This paper focuses on facial emotion recognition with the help of a 2-channel convolution neural network. The first channel in the CNN model contains a standard network and the other layer is made up of local features of the images. Information from both channels is connected to a fully connected layer which is used for classification using a log loss function. The designed scheme is tested on FER2013 dataset. The results obtained from the designed system are compared with standard CNN and SVM using accuracy, precision and Fl score. The results reveal that the 2-channel CNN is far better than the other models in terms of recognizing emotions correctly. It also revealed that providing local feature descriptors of images using CNN helps in improving classification by a significant margin in low-resolution images. © 2021 ieee

Airborne Wind Energy (AWE) systems represent an innovative method for capturing wind energy at high altitudes, where wind conditions are typically stronger and more consistent. These systems utilize flying devices tethered to a ground station to harness wind energy. An AWE system comprises a tether connecting the flying device to a base station, a control system for maneuvering the device, and a mechanism for converting kinetic energy into electricity. Researchers are exploring various materials, designs, and control methods to enhance the efficiency and reliability of AWE systems. Over the past decade, interest in AWE has surged, leading to a substantial increase in scholarly publications on the topic. This research conducts an in-depth bibliometric analysis. This analysis highlights emerging topics, allowing researchers to identify new trends and areas of interest within a field. By emphasizing these emerging topics, researchers and stakeholders can better align their efforts with the latest developments and opportunities in their area of study. Findings reveal that research on control techniques in AWE has grown at an average annual rate of 16% since 2013. Additionally, the study identifies the most influential aspects of the literature, including key topics, articles, authors, and keywords. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Emotions in human is an effective medium to study the mindset of a person. Since, expression on the face of human is significant approach to understand the condition and communicate with him to release the pressure or stress of person. The emotions and behavior have a strong relationship and is noteworthy in non-verbal form of communication. The advancement in medical science and use of image processing tools like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), can be helpful to recognize emotion, detect stress and depression level of a person. Thus, in this research work emotion recognition system is developed using Convolution Neural Networks (CNNs) with increased depth and width. CNNs have been shown to enhance prediction accuracy. In terms of proper emotion categorization and accurate prediction, the suggested ensemble technique is effective. In this paper Xception CNN architecture is proposed for accurate facial emotions prediction along with an ensemble model, using Max Voting ensemble technique, mainly contributes in accurate classification. In proposed technique trained CNN models were loaded and for each trained model prediction probabilities were generated. Furthermore, it is then used for Max Voting to generate final emotion prediction. The CNN models are trained and evaluated on FER-2013 dataset.

In this paper, a hard real time and optimized multi-level 3D MRI volume voxel-based Fractional Order Darwinian Particle Swarm Optimization (FODPSO) Segmentation algorithm system has been developed. It is an improved hardware design based on Fractional Order PSO to ensure non-convergence to an erroneous desired threshold. The Darwinian variant is used to guarantee a more faithful multi-level segmentation (3-levels for this work). The hardware design was proposed based on the Vivado system Generator (VSG) tool. Co-simulation and experimental results validate the performance of the proposed system based on the BraTS 2013 dataset. Also, resource utilization, execution time, power consumption, efficiency, specificity, and sensitivity prove the quality of the proposed system in terms of architecture and in terms of the performance of the multi-level segmentation of voxel-based 3D MRI volumes.

We will develop the Experimental Power Reactor of Indonesia (RDE), by adopting the HTR-10 type from Tsinghua University-China. The-Instrumentation and control (I&C) for RDE will developed with digital system technology which in the development process will have verification, validation, design and implementation, reviews, and audits for digital computer software activities. Software design for I&C system of Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) should be started by developing software requirement specification (SRS) to meet the requirement that systems and components should be designed, fabricated, erected, tested, and inspected. In the regulatory structure of developing nuclear power plant in Indonesia, BAPETEN also concern for the design development of important to safety with computer based system for nuclear power plant (NPP) by PERKA BAPETEN No.6 in 2012. Since BAPETEN did not state which standards should be use, we can refer to the standards that are commonly used globally. ieee Std 1012™-2004 is recommended by the latest US. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Guide 1.168 in 2013 about verification, validation, reviews, and audits for digital computer software used in safety systems of NPP. This guide also recommends ieee Std 279, "Criteria for Protection systems for Nuclear Power Generating Stations,"or in ieee Std 603-1991, "Criteria for Safety systems for Nuclear Power Generating Stations. In this research we will examine the recommendation activity that should be follow to meet the requirement of the regulatory body which is also covered in ieee Std 1012-2004. Developing traceability analysis in the first activity will help the designer to trace the requirement to meet the design criteria and reach the effectiveness and performance of the I&C system. By tracing from the top tier recommendation, it will help the development I&C system of RDE to be verified and validate as the design criteria for HTR-10 © 2021 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

In this paper, an observer-based control system is presented for the regulation of biomass concentration in bioreactors. The importance of the observer is highlighted by the dependency of the feedback linearising controller on the measurements of biomass concentration. Further, the discrete nature of output substrate concentration is considered and the performance of the system proposed is analysed through a simulation study using Matlab/Simulink. This study is also used to determine the limit on the sampling partition diameter for which the observer and controller designed give satisfactory performance. The implemented observer-based control system showed satisfactory performance both in terms of stability and convergence for given values of sampling partition diameters.

This paper presents a design and implementation of virtual process using LabVIEW in combination with Modbus TCP protocol for fieldbus control system (FCS). A level virtual process has been simulated in LabVIEW supported by NI input/output broad (NI - myDAQ), providing the 0-5V analog input and output signals. It is used to control actuators and to read data from sensors of the simulated process. Arduino broads incorporated with Ethernet shields are the Modbus TCP/voltage converter, communicating the data between programmable logic controller (PLC) that acts like a client and Arduino servers. Therefore, the virtual process can be controlled by the real PLC, and can be monitored by the real monitoring system over TCP/IP network. The experimental results show that the data communication among all devices works well. The mean absolute percentage error between both processes is less than 5.24%. In addition, the proposed model is very flexible and low cost. Hence, it is suitable for teaching and training. © 2019 ieee.

In practical motion control systems, high fidelity model of the system is fundamental for design, analysis and implementation of control algorithm. Linear Time Invariant (LTI) model approaches provide simplify approach to classical controller design and simulation. However, such approach usually leads to poor real-time performance on the actual system. On the other hand, obtaining nonlinear parametric model has been an arduous task. This paper presents non-parametric modeling approach using an optimized Nonlinear Autoregressive with eXogenous inputs network (NARX-network) with Multiobjective Differential Evolution (MODE). The hybrid algorithm, MODE-NARX addresses challenges of network parameters determination in the conventional NARX network, while providing optimal performance. A laboratory scale motion control systems is used to evaluate the performance of the algorithm. Based on simulation and comparative results analysis performed the proposed hybrid technique outperformed the common well-known PEM-ARMA model with up to 80% better accuracy, and better generalization performance across varying datasets. © 2019 ieee.
