Developing Digital Instrumentation and control system for Experimental Power Reactor by Following ieee Std 1012 −2004 to be Verified and Validated

We will develop the Experimental Power Reactor of Indonesia (RDE), by adopting the HTR-10 type from Tsinghua University-China. The–Instrumentation and control (I&C) for RDE will developed with digital system technology which in the development process will have verification, validation, design and implementation, reviews, and audits for digital computer software activities. Software design for I&C system of Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) should be started by developing software requirement specification (SRS) to meet the requirement that systems and components should be designed, fabricated, erected, tested, and inspected. In the regulatory structure of developing nuclear power plant in Indonesia, BAPETEN also concern for the design development of important to safety with computer based system for nuclear power plant (NPP) by PERKA BAPETEN No.6 in 2012. Since BAPETEN did not state which standards should be use, we can refer to the standards that are commonly used globally. ieee Std 1012™-2004 is recommended by the latest US. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Guide 1.168 in 2013 about verification, validation, reviews, and audits for digital computer software used in safety systems of NPP. This guide also recommends ieee Std 279, 'Criteria for Protection systems for Nuclear Power Generating Stations,' or in ieee Std 603-1991, 'Criteria for Safety systems for Nuclear Power Generating Stations. In this research we will examine the recommendation activity that should be follow to meet the requirement of the regulatory body which is also covered in ieee Std 1012-2004. Developing traceability analysis in the first activity will help the designer to trace the requirement to meet the design criteria and reach the effectiveness and performance of the I&C system. By tracing from the top tier recommendation, it will help the development I&C system of RDE to be verified and validate as the design criteria for HTR-10

This paper present a comparative study of speed control DC motor by using two different artificial intelligent controllers which are fuzzy logic controller (FLC) and artificial neural network (ANN). Intelligent controllers have gained wide popularity in the application of controlling system including DC motor speed control. The type of motor used in this project is separately excited DC motor. DC chopper is used to control the speed of DC motor by controlling their armature voltage of the motor. The switching of the DC chopper is control by using pulse width modulation (PWM) technique. This paper consists of two parts which are software development and hardware implementation. The software part is the development of the DC motor model with the controller to achieve the desired speed by using MATLAB/Simulink. In the hardware part, DC chopper is used to convert fixed DC voltage from power supply to variable DC voltage. IGBT is used to control the variable DC voltage and hence, achieve the target speed of the DC motor. DSPACE controller board is used for real-time interface of Simulink model and hardware development. In summary, this paper demonstrated the efficiency of both controllers designed for the DC motor in term of speed control in both simulation and hardware implementation.

Based on predictive control theory and transparent control structure, this paper presents that Dynamic Matrix control (DMC) is used in temperature control system of chromatograph to deal with the time delay problem. Firstly, the principle of DMC algorithm is introduced. Then, the temperature control system of chromatograph is constructed in the form of multilayer hierarchical structure, including sectional PID and DMC. According to the MATLAB simulation research and experimentation results on the chromatograph, this method can effectively obtain a better tracking performance, compared with the PID control system, and is valuable in industry control field.

In the coming decades, a new round of scientific and technological revolution is expected in the world. A person will be surrounded by artificial intellectual systems based on knowledge - cognitive systems. The existing education system is focused on giving knowledge about previous generations of intelligent systems - IoT, CPS, and should be transformed. The required amount of knowledge can no longer be transferred to a trained specialist within the framework of existing teaching technologies. Therefore, skills of using, extracting and transforming knowledge become the basis of promising technologies of continuous self-education. To determine a direction of studying cognitive control systems, a model of a structure of such system is proposed, based on control levels. Each level of this model corresponds to procedures for transforming forms of knowledge that need to be studied by a future engineer. To favour the development of students' self-education skills, it is suggested to sharply increase the amount of research assignments in the practice of teaching almost all technical curricula studied at universities. Examples of such tasks in physics, electrical engineering and other disciplines are given. Some of these examples are about "black box" objects;another need the application of a non-standard approach to ADC. Besides, a way of using ternary logic and logical inference to assess the quality of knowledge obtained by the cognitive control system is considered.

This project aimed to construct and operate a vehicle capable of movement on land while planting seeds at equal spacing. The project used an optical flow sensor, Optical Flow V1.0, for tracking distance movement, and an electronic compass, LSM9DS0 for tracking the vehicle heading. The vehicle made use of a differential drive system to move and navigate itself through a field. A seed-planting mechanism was mounted on the vehicle which enabled it to plant seeds. This mechanism included a garden seeder with a motor coupled to it. The system was controlled by a dsPIC30f4013 microcontroller board, and PID control was implemented for the motor control of the vehicle. Results show that the vehicle was able to move in its desired path, but the path tracked by the system may differ from the actual physical path due to inaccuracies of the sensors. © 2017 ieee.

The speed of the boat is greatly affected by different parameters considered in the environment. A boat without speed control system can be hazardous for it can lead to undesirable events such as engine breakdown or an accident. To mitigate these undesired incidents, a control system is proposed to sustain the boat's speed by automatically controlling the output power of the engine depending on varying factors such as wind speed, water current, and the total weight of the boat and payload. First, the needed variables are to be gathered thru instrumentation and research of the boat's specifications. Second, to find the relation boat between the variables on how they affect the speed of the boat and formulating a working equation that can determine the output power needed to maintain the speed of the boat. Third, is to implement the proposed control system by using the formulated equation in Laboratory Virtual Instrument engineering Workbench (LabVIEW) software and last, to evaluate the resulting control system. © 2017 ieee.

This paper addresses the problem of finding the best Brain Emotional Learning (BEL) controller parameters in order to improve the response of a single degree-of-freedom (SDOF) structural system under an earthquake excitation. The control paradigm considered is based on a semi-active system to control the dynamics of a lumped mass-damper-spring model, being carried out by changing the damping force of a magneto-rheological (MR) damper. A typical BEL based controller requires the definition of several parameters which can be proved difficult and non-intuitive to obtain. For this reason, an evolutionary based search technique has been added to the current problem framework in order to automate the controller design. In particular, the particle swarm optimization (PSO) method was chosen as the evolutionary based technique to be integrated within the current control paradigm. The obtained results suggest that, indeed, it is possible to parametrize a BEL controller using an evolutionary based algorithm. Moreover, simulation shows that the obtained results can outperform the ones obtained by manual tuning each controller parameter individually.

In many of the marine applications, the availability of an accurate system to localize underwater targets using a group of surface vehicles equipped with acoustic sensors is of paramount importance. In this context, the surface vehicles must keep a well-de fined formation with respect to the targets so as to maximize the range-based information available for target localization. In this paper, a target position estimation algorithm together with a simple formation control law to maintain an optimal configuration that maximizes range-related information for target localization and tracking are presented. The setup studied consists of a group of surface vehicles moving in formation and a target performing a predefined mission. The optimal formation is computed by maximizing the determinant of an appropriately defined Fisher information matrix (FIM), subject to inter-vehicle collision avoidance and vehicle manoeuvring constraints. A centralized approach for the formation control is considered, where the trajectory planning is carried out by a supervisor that computes the control actions for each agent. The formation control is complemented with a collision avoidance logic based on a discrete event law. Simulations show that this strategy leads to an interesting and well defined behavior of the formation for localization and tracking.

In this study, an optimization problem is proposed for improving the flexibility of a distribution system including shared energy storage systems (ESSs) and residential consumers with elastic heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) units. To this end, a direct compressor control mechanism (DCCM) is used for meeting the load reduction target of load serving entities (LSEs) by controlling the HVACs, and an optimal management strategy is presented for exploiting the benefits of shared ESSs during critical peak periods. Furthermore, an additional objective is included in the problem structure, which leads to a bi-level optimization problem, in order to reduce the possible consumers' discomfort caused by frequent HVAC interruptions. The effectiveness of the proposed bi-level optimization problem is demonstrated by comparing various performance metrics with those of two benchmark methods.

In any developing economy, long term forecasting of energy demand and supply is important for planning the power projects. China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a burning topic of fundamental research in energy projects due to reliance on energy imports and of sustainable development. This paper presents progress on the CPEC energy policies and an overview of energy demands & supplies to CPEC energy projects. An outline of the past developments in the energy projects in the Pakistan has been explained. Finally, Long-range Energy Alternatives Planning system (LEAP) model has been used for CPEC energy projects. In this paper, modeling and analysis of existing energy power projects and CPEC energy projects are performed using LEAP model and the results are compared. We have presented three scenarios that are Reference Scenario (RE), Coal Scenario (COA) and Renewable Scenario (REN) to forecast CPEC energy projects in LEAP that was performed from 2013 to 2030. Results indicated that Coal scenario is better while considering environmental and economic effects. This research is beneficial to the forecasting of the role of CPEC energy projects in order to meet high electrical energy in future here in Pakistan. Expected barriers to the change in the energy mix are discussed and are presented from predictable sources of renewable energy sources. © 2018 ieee.
