This paper presents a fast and robust control system for a three-phase quasi-Z-source inverter (qZSI) connected to the grid. The topology combines two quasi-Z-source networks with a T-type inverter allowing to obtain AC voltages with multilevel characteristics and properties of the referred networks. To control this system a closed-loop current controller for the AC currents is proposed. The controller is based on a vectorial modulator associated to the shoot-through states. The DC-link voltage is maintained stable at the reference value by adjusting the shoot-through duty cycle. The controller is characterized by fast transient response and robustness to parameter and load variations. In order to confirm the desired characteristics and performance of the converter and control system several simulation tests were performed.

Purpose of this paper is to model, simulate and control wheeled mobile robotic systems integrated into an assembly mechatronics line for making it reversible, i.e. have the capacity to deal disassembly using mobile platforms equipped with a manipulator. For this purpose, synchronised hybrid Petri nets (SHPN) models will be used to simulate and control an assembly/disassembly (A/D) mechatronics line (A/DML), with a fixed number of workstations. Two cases are presented: to the first one, A/DML is served by a wheeled mobile robots (WMR) equipped with robotic manipulator (RM). To the second case, A/DML is served by two WMRs, collaborative or parallel working. The SHPN models are hybrid type, where A/DML is the discrete part, and WMRs are the continuous part. Moreover, the model operates in synchronised mode with signals from sensors. Disassembly starts after the assembly process and if the assembled piece fails the quality test, to recover disassembled parts. The WMRs are used only during disassembly, to transport parts from the disassembling locations to the storage locations.

As for state estimation inconsistency in standard EKF-SLAM (Extended Kalman Filter, Simultaneous Localization and Mapping), a new algorithm that increasing observability constraint condition is represented in order to improve the consistency of standard EKF-SLAM. The observability constraint condition is first added and the compensation matrix U is constructed for standard EKF-SLAM algorithm in order to keep the rank of local observability matrix of EKF-SLAM consistent with non-linear SLAM system. Then we use data fusion based state delay estimation to improve the accuracy of the initial landmark position. Next, a new linear point is calculated through solving the constrained optimization problem and computing Jacobi matrix of state model and observation model of the linear error status system for improving system observation matrix. Finally, the simulation results illustrate that the proposed algorithm is superior to the standard EKF-SLAM algorithm in terms of state estimation accuracy and consistency.

Detection of occupancy in the elevator car is becoming increasingly important because the elevator control system relies the real-time data on occupancy to avoid overload, improve comfort and reduce energy consumption. This paper focuses on detection of occupancy of elevator car in the video scenes in oblique views. We propose an occupancy detection method fusing analysis of dual synchronous videos captured by two cameras installed inside and outside the elevator, respectively. One video is used to detect the absolute value of occupancy by the duration of full opening state of the elevator door. The other video is used to solve the coefficient of the occupancy by the change of foreground areas before and after the elevator door is opened. The absolute value and the coefficient jointly determines occupancy measurement. The experimental result verifies the effectiveness of our method and the correctness reaches up to 91.7%, exceeding that of the traditional method based on pixel statistics in the connected area. This method may contribute to the elevator control system after it is integrated with the video surveillance system.

Many important data management and analytics tasks cannot be completely addressed by automated processes. These tasks, such as entity resolution, sentiment analysis, and image recognition can be enhanced through the use of human cognitive ability. Crowdsouring is an effective way to harness the capabilities of people (i.e., the crowd) to apply human computation for such tasks. Thus, crowdsourced data management has become an area of increasing interest in research and industry. We identify three important problems in crowdsourced data management. (1) Quality control: Workers may return noisy or incorrect results so effective techniques are required to achieve high quality;(2) Cost control: The crowd is not free, and cost control aims to reduce the monetary cost;(3) Latency control: The human workers can be slow, particularly compared to automated computing time scales, so latency-control techniques are required. There has been significant work addressing these three factors for designing crowdsourced tasks, developing crowdsourced data manipulation operators, and optimizing plans consisting of multiple operators. We survey and synthesize a wide spectrum of existing studies on crowdsourced data management.

This paper presents the Power system Stabilizer (PSS) for the variable speed wind turbine generator of the Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG). The mathematical model for DFIG is developed in the synchronous reference by using stator voltage orientation vector control for current and voltage controller and is discretized in time domain. The current controller has two components namely d and q-axis. The d-axis component controls the active power and q-axis component controls the reactive power. The voltage controller converts the dq into ABC-reference frame for rotor and grid side converter. In the proposed control scheme, PSS is designed to improve the performance and efficiency of the system. The proposed two PSSs are (a) Active power stabilizer (b) Reactive power stabilizer. The control strategy with stabilizing parameter of PSS not only improves the dynamic performance but also maintains almost unity power factor to the grid. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by developing the simulation model of 1.5 MW, 575 V, and 50 Hz DFIG based wind turbine in MATLAB/SIMULINK-2013b. In order to explore the robustness of the without and with PSS, simulations are carried out for rapid variation of wind speed and three-phase fault generated in the system. The simulation results show that the proposed PSS have better power control, faster oscillation damping, more accurate regulation, considerably reduced settling time and has fewer ripples in comparison without PSS.

This paper gives comparative analysis of parallel morphological filter with previously designed morphological filters. In this paper, implementation is done for gray image using various structuring elements. In past, multiple systems have been developed that have huge latency and fewer throughputs. This system reduced latency and improved through by using parallel approach. It provides a programmable and efficient implementation of basic morphological operators such as Dilation and Erosion using efficient parallel technique for different applications. It reduces processing time with respect to image dimension. Here performance analysis is based on different shape and size of structuring elements which support parallelism. MATLAB R2013a and Xilinx Design Suite 13.1 ISE are used for synthesizing this architecture that is verified by using Xilinx ISIM Simulator and prototyped on Spartan 3E FPGA Board. The proposed architecture is examined on different gray scale images.

In this paper, the main purpose is to design the model of a given mechatronics line, composed by several workstations and serviced during the recovery, transport and return of a work piece by a Wheeled Mobile Robot (WMR) which has mounted a Robotic Manipulator (RM). The work piece to be transported has been initially tested and did not pass the quality test. In this context, the Processing/Reprocessing Mechatronics Line (P/RML) model will be given by a combination between Synchronized Hybrid Petri Nets (SHPN), visual servoing system for work piece recovery and return and sliding-mode controller for WMR movement. The hybrid aspect of the model is given by the mechatronics line model, that is the discrete part and the continuous part represented by the WMR. The synchronization of the two parts is ensured by sensors and video cameras. Transport of work pieces is a random event which starts when the quality test is not passed. Combining SHPN model with visual servoing systems from two cameras the real-time control structure is defined and implemented in order to achieve processing and reprocessing without human interference. © 2017 ieee.
