The paper is devoted to the problem of a Takagi-Sugeno(TS)-based robust simultaneous actuator and sensor faults estimator design for the purpose of the Fault Diagnosis (FD) of non-linear systems. The proposed methodology of designing a TS-based H∞ fault estimator is developed in this paper. The main novelty of the approach is associated with possibly of simultaneous sensor and actuator faults estimation. The developed approach guaranties a predefined disturbance attenuation level and convergence of the designed estimator. The illustrative part of the paper shows an example of the application of the developed approach in the task of the fault diagnosis of the multi-tank system. © 2017 ieee.

This paper presents the development of a single generator networked control system (NCS) to provide an experimental platform for cyber security studies on the power grid. The generator NCS is comprised of three main components: 1) a synchronous generator in a two-bus system, 2) a data acquisition (DAQ) unit, and 3) a controller connected in a local area network. The two-bus power grid consists of a LabVolt synchronous generator driven by a dynamometer serving as the prime mover, and the field circuit controlled by insulated gate bipolar junction transistor (IGBT) DC/DC chopper, transmission line, and load bank (resistor, capacitor, inductor). The DAQ unit is comprised of voltage and current transformers and op-amp circuits that are interfaced with an Arduino Uno microprocessor for analog-to-digital conversion (ADC) and further processing. The DAQ system sends the voltage and current data to the controller via the Ethernet link. The controller is implemented in software in a laptop and sends control signals to a separate Arduino which is then responsible for controlling the voltage applied to the field circuit of the synchronous generator. This is accomplished through the use of an IGBT chopper which is controlled by a pulse width modulated (PWM) voltage signal produced by the Arduino. Experimental results are presented that show the effects of cyber-attacks on a generator control system. A baseline for the behavior of the two-bus system is first established by operating the generator under various load conditions for which the controller maintains the desired terminal voltage. Then a series of data injection attacks (biasing and random data) and a Denial-of-Service attack were launched. With no attack prevention mechanism in place, the developed experimental platform provides a facility to observe and evaluate the impacts of various cyber-attacks on a real physical power generator. © American Society for engineering Education, 2017.

Aimed at the problem of large vehicle outline detect in the field of intelligent traffic, this paper proposes a vehicle stitching algorithm based on improved SIFT feature matching to reduce the requirements of the camera configuration and choose camera position easily. Firstly, the improved SIFT algorithm is used to extract and match feature point quickly. So the superior characteristics of SIFT algorithm is utilized to not only deal with the image's rotation, translation and illumination changes, the stability of visual change and affine transformation, but also ensure the processing speed of algorithm by reducing the complexity of the SIFT algorithm. In this paper, mismatched points are simply and quickly removed by limiting the matching line slope, which is proved to be a good result. After obtaining the stable matching points, we calculate the transformation matrix between two images. Finally, the image pyramid fusion is performed to perfect our stitching image and this pixel level processing has a good ability to eliminate fusion mosaic slot caused by camera position deviation, different light and other causes. Experiment results show that this algorithm reduces the rate of mismatching and improves the low efficiency in traditional image mosaic. The improved SIFT algorithm has distinct advantage in increasing speed, obtaining high resolution and completing vehicle images after mosaic.

Voltage sag is a serious power quality problem which has a profound effect on the electrical equipment and the users. Reliable data platform has been provided for real-time monitoring and scientific management of voltage sags by construction and development of on-line monitoring system. The valuable information extraction from massive data is an important problem that needs to be solved urgently. Sags classification and recognition by data mining are the effective means. The KFCM-SVM method proposed in this paper has the advantages as following: Firstly, reasonable classification and optimization of historical data can be realized by KFCM. Secondly, effective recognition of the voltage sag events is executed by SVM. Thirdly, the typical features are selected with high separability. The model, which is more suitable for online systems, is simple with small calculation. The effectiveness of this proposed method is verified by historical data modeling.

In this paper, it is presented that a spatial magnetic field measurement system for space magnetic field single dimension measurement and multi plane magnetic field synthesis. The system consists of a cylindrical electromagnetic field, a spatial device, a plane measuring ring, and a measuring circuit set. The cylindrical electromagnetic field spatial device is a hollow cylindrical structure. A plane measuring ring is arranged on the inner wall of the cylinder along the vertical cylinder wall, and the measuring ring can move up and down along the inner wall. A measuring rod with a ruler is arranged in the direction of the diameter of the measuring ring, and the measuring rod can rotate around the center of the measuring ring. A measuring circuit group is provided at intervals between the measuring rods. Used to obtain three one-dimensional magnetic field data in each direction of each measurement point covered by the measuring ring and then three dimensional magnetic field data are obtained. The measured data are analyzed, processed, and synthesized to form a magnetic field in which the measuring ring is located. The horizontal position of the measuring ring is adjusted, and the magnetic field of different planes is obtained. Finally, the distribution of the magnetic field is obtained. This method lays a solid foundation for further study of the spatial constant magnetic field and the fast pulsating magnetic field distribution.

In the distribution system, harmonic problem has become one of the major power quality (PQ) issues in recent time. In modern smart grid scenario, it is required to fix the responsibilities for the harmonic problem in the power supply. In this paper, a technique has been presented for harmonic source identification, which is based on total harmonic power (THP) method using estimation of signal parameters via signal rotational invariance technique (ESPRIT). Simulation results have been presented for radial and nonradial distribution system, which shows that the proposed method can identify harmonic source in a better way. © 2017 ieee.

DC-DC converter is an important part of solar microgrid system since it not only boost the output voltage to a level which can be integrated with the distribution grid, but it also smoothens the ripple in the output waveform. In the literature numerous techniques are available to design a DC-DC converter. This paper presents a noble converter topology based on Heuristic method of simulation to design a DC converter which maximizes the output voltage such that it can be easily integrated with the grid. To extract the Maximum output from Solar Photovoltaic system a new Teaching Learning Based Optimization method has been implemented for fast convergence of the optimal parameters to design a suitable MPPT technique. A comparative analysis has been presented between conventional PO, IC and the proposed MPPT technique. The research has been done on Matlab Simulink software version 2013. © 2017 ieee.

Distribution networks have, in general, the electrical energy flow unidirectional from substation to customers. With high levels of distributed energy resources integration, the energy may flow backwards which creates challenges with legacy circuit designs and control techniques. The Distribution system Operator fixes a set-point and prepares scenarios and ranges based on seasonal load curves. However, the growing of distributed energy resources, distributed storage, flexible load and plug-in-electrical vehicles brings to the distribution systems substantial challenges. On one hand, the uncontrolled charging load may occur coincidentally with the peak hours. On the other hand the photovoltaic and wind generation may occur coincidentally with the off-peak hours and will affect or even deteriorate the operation performance of distribution systems dramatically. In both cases, the voltage regulators need to have their settings previously evaluated for these different operating conditions. From these considerations, this paper presents an innovative methodology to distributed voltage control developed to a Brazilian power utility (CEEE-D) from the project named Intelligent Dynamic control for Voltage Regulators and Supervisory systems in a Smart Grid Environment Code ANEEL PD-5707-4301/2015. The methodology is not restricted to voltage regulators settings. It acts also evaluating the hierarchy between the voltage regulators, adjusting the delay time, based on the network topology. The results are provided using a typical utility distribution circuit from Electrical Energy State Company-CEEE-D. Moreover, the authors discuss further opportunities and challenges in this field of research. © 2017 ieee.

Water supply networks (WSNs) represent an important part of urban technical infrastructure. Recently, the resilience of water distribution networks facing different physical and cyber threats has gained increasing attention. In order to improve the operation of complex water distribution systems under both, extreme and normal hydraulic conditions, mathematical simulation models are indispensable tools for engineers, network planners, network operators and decision makers. Especially, in the case of extremely disruptive events that might be caused by natural hazards or deliberate malevolent attacks by humans, the proper operation of the system for maintaining the supply of drinking water to at least parts of the population is a very challenging task. Resilient behaviour can be reached only by adaptive system operation including isolation of parts of the network and control of pressure and flows in the system. For that purpose, different kinds of control devices are used that may be remotely controlled or which are operated in the field. Existing hydraulic simulation software often fails to calculate reliable results for systems under control and pressure insufficiency. A mathematical framework for the simulation of the steady-state flow in reticulation water supply networks with special consideration of feedback control devices and pressure dependent demands is proposed in this paper. First, the importance of the steady-state calculation in the face of disruptive events is stressed and a brief review of synthetic and analytical methods for the hydraulic steadystate calculation is given. In this paper, the well-known content model is extended by the content of pressure dependent outflows. The nonlinear consumption functions in combination with linear inequality constraints (box constraints) replace the constant demands of demand driven analysis. It is also shown that the range of solvable problems in combination with flow control devices is enlarged by the relaxation
