If a dynamic system is influenced by uncertain factors, it can be described by an uncertain differential equation. Uncertain optimal control problem is an optimization problem based on uncertain differential equations. For an uncertain optimal control model, if the switching function that determines the values of the control function is consistently zero within a time interval, then the model belongs to a singular case. Inspired by Johnson and Gibson's work, this paper establishes an approach for the solutions of a singular uncertain optimal control model. For a class of uncertain optimal control model where the drift term of the uncertain system and objective function are both linear in control variables, the singular optimal control function may be solved by making use of the fact that the optimal value of the Hamiltonian function is zero in a singular control interval. An example is used to show that the proposed method is efficient.

Surgical site infection (SSI) is a long-term issue in the hospital and contributes to patient deaths and disability. Also healthcare-associated SSI (HASSI) increases healthcare costs and extend hospitalization stay, so prevention of HASSI is one of the most important points in infection control. However, the current manual surveillance method is error prone and time-consuming. To increase the efficiency of healthcare-associated SSI surveillance and evaluate different detection rule using different data sources (antibiotic prescription, microbiology laboratory, discharge diagnosis codes, surgical report, and symptoms & physical examination), the HASSI surveillance system was developed. According to the preliminary results, the rule-based SSI systems of antibiotic prescription and microbiology laboratory acquires 89% and 85% sensitivity, respectively. Electronic medical records from September 2013 through December 2013 of 7849 inpatients were detected by different defined rules of HASSI. The performance analysis of this surveillance system was calculated by comparing the manual reviewed HASSIs. Hence, The HASSI system decreases the number of patients need to evaluate by infection control personnel (ICP) and significantly improves the efficiency of HASSI detection.

This paper presents the tuning of PID control parameters for position feedback control of motor and the position reference design for grasping task by a 7-degree of freedom (DOF) three-fingered robotic hand. The system of the robotic hand consists of DC-motors, magnetic encoder and a motion controller unit. The robotic hand has three fingers where each finger has two joints and two links made of perspective plastic material. The PID tuning is implemented to all six motors that are used to move all joints of the three fingers. Trial and error method is used for tuning the parameter of PID control to improve the transient response performance of the motors. For the position reference design, a set of position data is identified to produce the grasping trajectory for all finger joints. The trajectory for the robotic hand performs two types of finger configuration for grasping two different shapes of household solid objects. Both works were implemented via programming in Motion Manager Application. It has been observed that the robot hand has performed well with the tuned PID parameters by reducing the overshoot, rise time (T r ), peak time (T p ), settling time (T s ) and steady state error (e ss ). Besides, the robot hand has also succeeded the grasping task with the proposed position reference trajectory.

In view of the high-power laser could make the temperature rise on the samples, this paper proposes a controller based on parameters self-tuning fuzzy PID algorithm. The controller can be not only applied to the single control object based on Fuzzy empirical formula according to the PID parameters online correcting, but also can effectively deal with the temperature control model of LTDS uncertainly, nonlinear, time-varying, hysteresis, and so on. And in this paper, we make a simulation comparative experiment between the traditional PID control and the fuzzy adaptive PID control by using Matlab Simulink toolbox. The experiment result shows that fuzzy adaptive PID is better than the traditional control algorithm on overshoot, settling time and other performance indicators, and it can effectively improve control accuracy of the temperature controlsystem.

This paper presents the simulation and the implementation of a model of a neural network applied to a multiagent system by using the Neuroph framework. This tool enables several tests to be carried out and verify which structure is the best structure of our neural network for a specific application. In our case, we simulated the neural network for a sun-tracking controlsystem in a solar farm. Initial implementation shows good results in performance, thereby providing an alternative to traditional solar-tracking systems.

Fuzzy systems have been successfully applied in classification, modeling, control, signal processing, and communications applications. Unfortunately, there is little work on the performance analysis of fuzzy systems, which yet is an important aspect for the systems. In this paper, we propose a method to conduct performance analysis for rule-based fuzzy systems. We first map the rules to a fuzzy Petri net, then build a set of fuzzy differential equations based on this net, and finally analyze the performance using the solutions of the equations. An airport controlsystem has been employed to illustrate our method. The performance metrics include taxi-out speeds, runway utilization, and departure throughput.

The main aim of optimal schedule of traditional water distribution system is to reduce energy consumption, without consideration of minimizing network leakage. This research is on the premise of meeting water demand, pressure and quality, at same time taking the minimization of network leakage and power consumption as the optimization objectives, taking pump and valve opening and closing as decision variables, to build leakage control model of multi-source water distribution system by optimal pump schedule. On the basis of this model, the partition scheme and pump scheduling of water supply system are determined;the NSGA-algorithm is used for solving the optimisation problem. By applying it to practical water supply network in HD city, the results showed thatthis method can simultaneously reduce power consumption and network leakage.

This paper deals with the mooring control of tri-floater support structures for wind turbines by means of a numerical parametric study;both catenary and vertical tensioned mooring lines are considered. Operational and extreme climate conditions are examined, in particular wave, wind and current parameters with return periods of 5 and 50 years are determined for three different locations in Southern Mediterranean Sea. Mooring system is dimensioned in such a way that the offset due to environmental actions is restrained within allowable limits. The response of the platform is assessed in terms of: static forces due to turbine thrusts, wind and current drag forces and steady drift forces;the wave frequency motion RAO curves;the low frequency second order wave motions. Finally, assuming the Dutch tri-floater structure as a test case, a parametric study is carried out to identify the most suitable mooring configurations, varying the water depth in the range between 50 and 200 m.
