The study of static friction in controlengineering is the subject of many researches due to its impact on degradation of performance of the control loops. Mathematical model of systems with static friction is not straight forward. Precise and proper model of this phenomenon is a key factor in model-based control to mitigate its effect. By increasing number of smart valve in industry, demand for identification of such valves is rising. In these valves, identification of process is limited to control signal (OP) and valve position (MV). By taking advantage of Hammerstein approach, identification is divided in two parts, linear dynamic part and nonlinear static part. In this paper, adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) is used for identification of nonlinear static part of the plant. The linear dynamic part can be identified using linear identification methods. Results reveal that ANFIS which integrates both neural networks and fuzzy logic principles and has potential to capture the benefits of both in a single framework can capture well the key model of the systems with smart valves involved in static friction.

Aiming at the performance evaluation of mixed-mode sensing interface of the integrated-sensor RFID system, an integrated-sensor RFID system was constructed. Then the mechanism of performance evaluation of mixed-mode interface was analyzed. According to the validity and reliability principle, a mixed-mode interface performance testing model was established. Moreover, a Plug-and-Play performance testing method was presented. Finally, the physical platform was set up to test the reading speed and the recognition rate indicator in Plug-and-Play process. Results showed the reading speeds of two STIM maintained at around 656.56ms and 645.24ms steadily during Plug-and-Play process whose Bit Error Rate was 10(-9). Experiments indicate that effective transverse comparison of performance of similar products could be implemented by the proposed method in static environment as well as dynamic environment.

In this paper we address a problem arising from the classification of breast cancer malignancy data. Due to the fact that there is much smaller number of patients which are diagnosed with high malignancy, data sets are prone to have a high imbalance between malignancy classes. To overcome this problem we have applied state-of-the-art methods for imbalanced classification to our data set and demonstrate an improvement in the classification sensitivity. The achieved sensitivity for our data set was recorded at 92.34%.

This paper describes an ENERGY CONSERVATION & MONITORING system, designed to avoid usage of extra energy consumption and monitor the usage of energy. Energy crises have caused economic halts to many countries, causing hindrance in development of developing nations. This project is a small effort to solve this problem. The testing and demonstration of this project was conducted in Faculty of engineering Sciences and Technology, Hamdard University, Karachi, Pakistan. In first stage of the project, load calculation was done in which load of whole campus was determined. After that, implementation of this project was done in defined area. In which motion sensors were used to detect the presence of body in a certain range. The appliances were controlled by motion sensor in that area and this was logged in software connected with computer through serial port. The simulation results show that after implementation of this project around 20-30% energy was saved.

We have designed and fabricated electrodes microtluidics system for microbio object analysis. Two parallel plate electrodes were fabricated using soft lithography technique integrated with PDMS microtluidics channel. Gold (Au) material was decomposed to fabricate the electrodes. Voltage response through charging and discharging of the electrodes were observed using oscilloscope. For a constant dc voltage of 5 V we have obtained the time constant of the electrodes as 3.6 ms. On the other hand, it requires 850 ms to discharge completely without an external load. We have measured the capacitance of the electrodes as 0.37 pF in air (room environment) medium, on the other hand in distilled water medium electrodes capacitance is 0.77 pF. This is because of the high dielectric constant of distilled water (80.1). We have also measured electrodes capacitance by changing the medium to microbio objects such as;yeast cells (5 pF) and live bacteria cells (30 pF). Results showed that, bacteria have a higher electrical capacitance rather than yeast.
