This paper presents a vehicle speed measurement method based on laser switch, due to the effects of laser switch emission frequency and mechanical structure, it exists large error for measured speed. To ensure the measuring system meet accuracy requirements, for example a fixed length of 10 m, the uncertainty of laser switch speedometer was effective analyzed. Through making the effects of laser switch frequency distance and mechanical error averaged, the influence from switch frequency, mechanical error and other aspects was evaluated. Selected laser switch of 10 kHz and debugged various parameters, experiment shows that speed measuring system can achieve accuracy ±0.2 km/h to ±0.3 km/h, which can meet the required accuracy to provide a vehicle speed basis for relevant departments. © 2014 Springer international Publishing Switzerland.

Today the need for renewable energy sources is on the rise because of the acute energy crisis in the world. India has planned to produce 20 Giga Watt of solar power by the year 2020 whereas it has only produced less than half a Giga Watt as on December 2013. Solar power plays an important role in our India. The main objective of this work is to reduce the utility power consumption by the way of sharing the two power supply system; one is utility (Grid power) and another one is solar power system. Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) is used to track the maximum power from solar panel. For home applications, we need AC supply and we use an inverter from which the load is fed by the AC supply. The supply to the load is shared depending on the availability of the solar power and the rest via utility. The analysis is carried out using MATLAB/Simulink software package and the results are evaluated.

As a generalization of the fuzzy set, the hesitant fuzzy set has developed quickly. While in practice and theory, it is observed that the modeling of the hesitant fuzzy set is unreasonable in some cases. In this paper, an improved concept-the possible-degree generalized hesitant fuzzy set-is introduced, which is very important to the hesitant information-based decision making because the new concept allows us to consider hesitant fuzzy information with possibility information together in decision making. Some fundamental operations of the possible-degree generalized hesitant fuzzy sets are discussed. Furthermore, series of the aggregation operators about the possible-degree generalized hesitant fuzzy information will be proposed. At last, a method to possible-degree generalized hesitant fuzzy information-based multi-attribute decision making problems is proposed, and a practical example is given to prove the feasibility of the new model and the concept.

An adaptive output feedback tracking controller for nonholonomic mobile robots is proposed to guarantee that the tracking errors are confined to an arbitrarily small ball. The major difficulties are caused by simultaneous existence of nonholonomic constraints, unknown system parameters and a quadratic term of unmeasurable states in the mobile robot dynamic system as well as their couplings. To overcome these difficulties, we propose a new adaptive control scheme including designing a new adaptive state feedback controller and two high-gain observers to estimate the unknown linear and angular velocities respectively. It is shown that the closed loop adaptive system is stable and the tracking errors are guaranteed to be within the pre-specified bounds which can be arbitrarily small. Simulation results also verify the effectiveness of the proposed scheme. © 2014 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Microfluidic devices are important for the single cell analysis such as cell mechanical and electrical characterization. Single cell characterization could be related to many significant applications including early disease diagnosis. However to perform the single cell manipulation, firstly a single cell have to be isolated and a platform for the cell manipulation have to be provided. One of the methods to trap a single cell is by using hydrodynamic trapping in the microfluidic channel. This study provides a finite element model for single cell trapping for a yeast cell model. The objectives of the simulations are to obtain the appropriate channels' geometry and optimized ratio of the fluid's inlet and suction flow rate to trap a single yeast cell. Trap channel was designed to trap a 5 mu m yeast cell with a suction hole placed in the end of the trap channel. Design geometry and ratio of fluid flow rates referring to the hydrodynamic concept were studied for the cell trapping model. The analysis was carried out using numerical solutions from the finite element ABAQUS-FEA software. Using the cell trapping model, a single yeast cell able to be trapped into the trap channel with optimized channel's suction hole's geometry and appropriate fluid's inlet and suction flow rate ratio.

Endovascular repair is a minimal invasive alternative to open surgical therapy. From a long term perspective, complications such as prostheses displacement or leaks inside the aneurysm sac (endoleaks) could appear influencing the evolution of treatment. The objective of this work is to develop a Computer-Aided Diagnosis system (CAD) for an automated classification of EndoVascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR) progression from Computed Tomography Angiography (CTA) images. The CAD system is based on the extraction of texture features from segmented thrombus aneurysm samples and a posterior classification. Image segmentation is produced by an interactive Active Learning procedure based on Random Forest (RF) classification. An initial set of labeled points are required to start training an RF. The human operator is presented with the most uncertain unlabeled voxels to select some of them for inclusion in the training set, retraining the RF classifier. Three texture-analysis methods such as the gray level co-occurrence matrix (GLCM), the gray level run length matrix (GLRLM), and the gray level difference method (GLDM), were applied to each ROI to obtain texture features. Classification of the ROI is carried out by an ensemble of SVM classifiers (ECs). The final decision is based on the application of a voting scheme across the outputs of the individual SVMs. The performance of the classifier was evaluated using 10-fold cross validation and the average of accuracy (93.84% ± 0.29), sensitivity (94.72 ± 0.23), and specificity (91.48 ± 0.35) results. © Springer international Publishing Switzerland 2014.

The author of this paper aims to highlight the basic design of a flexible manufacturing cell with parallel organization destined for the assembly of tires on AAV carcasses shafts, operation performed by a TRTR serial-modular industrial robot. The paper describes, in detail: the direct and inverse geometric modeling of the mechanical structure, the direct kinematic modeling of the industrial robot under study, by calculating and illustrating, by means of time development graphs, the column vectors of the generalized coordinates as well as the prehension device characteristic point trajectory that define, at a given moment, its position, orientation and movement within the flexible manufacturing cell proposed for implementation. The final part of the paper presents, based on several functional parameters mandatory for the building of the FMC, the calculus of economic indicators necessary for the optimum functioning of the cell as well as for determining the value of the robot included in its activity and of the overall flexible manufacturing system.

Continuous delivery is a set of practices and principles to release software faster and more frequently. While it helps to bridge the gap between developers and operations for software in production, it can also improve the communication between developers and customers in the development phase, i.e. before software is in production. It shortens the feedback cycle and developers ideally use it right from the beginning of a software development project. In this paper we describe the implementation of a customized continuous delivery workflow and its benefits in a multi-customer project course in summer 2013. Our workflow focuses on the ability to deliver software with only a few clicks to the customer in order to obtain feedback as early as possible. This helps developers to validate their understanding about requirements, which is especially helpful in agile projects where requirements might change often. We describe how we integrated this workflow and the role of the release manager into our project-based organization and how we introduced it using different teaching methods. Within three months 90 students worked in 10 different projects with real customers from industry and delivered 490 releases. After the project course we evaluated our approach in an online questionnaire and in personal interviews. Our findings and observations show that participating students understood and applied the concepts and are convinced about the benefits of continuous delivery.
