Inverted Pendulum system is a controlengineering project as it is a highly nonlinear and unstable system. The aim of the study is to stabilize the inverted pendulum upright always during disturbances such that the position of the cart on the track is controlled quickly and accurately Thus this system is chosen as an ideal platform for verifying the effectiveness of many control algorithms. In this work, Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) controllers are developed for controlling the Inverted Pendulum system. LQR controller is controlling the Linear Inverted Pendulum, whose weight matrices, Q and R are optimized using simulated annealing optimization technique. Nonlinear Inverted Pendulum system is controlled by ANN, whose weights and bias are optimized using Simulated Annealing optimization technique. Robustness of the controllers are also checked.

This paper addresses the issue of real-time optimal trajectory generation of a micro Air Vehicle (MAV) in unknown urban environments. The MAV is required to navigate from an initial and outdoor position to a final position inside a building. To achieve this objective, we develop a safe path planning method using the information provided by the GPS and a consumer depth camera. With the purpose to develop a safe path planning with obstacle avoidance capabilities, a model predictive control approach is developed, which uses the environment information acquired by the navigation system.

This paper refers to two aspects on using the Virtual Reference Feedback Tuning (VRFT) method on process controlengineering. The first issue concerns the extent to which the spectral model uncertainties of the process input affects the quality of the process controlsystem resulted from the VRFT method. The second issue concerns the selection of the reference model and of the dynamic compensator order from the controller structure. Such a working scenario calls for novel safety systems capable of combining productivity with workers' safety. In this paper, a method for the definition of a task-consistent collision avoidance safety strategy is presented. A classification of task constraints based on relevance for task completion is introduced. control of task constraints enforcement is performed through a state machine. A template for such state machine is proposed. Experimental validation of the proposed safety system on a dual-arm industrial robot prototype is presented.

In the distributed computing environments like cloud computing or service computing, users access various services and shared resources hosted by the service providers, to achieve their tasks done efficiently. Authentication and authorization are the two important functions to be performed in this context, to make sure that unauthorized users do not access the distributed system components. In this paper, we analyse the various distributed access control approaches already adopted in this area, considering the advantages and the disadvantages. We propose a distributed access control architecture for the cloud computing paradigm considering the present day requirements of the service consumers and service providers. We also give the workflow model for the proposed distributed access controlsystem in the cloud. A few open issues in the area of distributed access control are also discussed.

Operating system (OS) noise refers to the interference experienced by an application due to activities inside an operating system. OS noise can significantly hurt the performance of applications, especially parallel applications. We implemented a tool, noisetest, to study the characteristics of OS noise on the Godson-3A shared-memory multicore platform running Linux. We found that OS noise was balanced among cores under uniform memory access (UMA) but not under non-uniform memory access (NUMA). We then implemented another tool, quietcpu, to control OS noise. Tests showed the tool could be used to effectively reduce the maximum noise durations by around 50% and the average noise duration by around 5% on our experiment platform.

Business process reengineering frequently occurs in complex service systems because of its dynamic,random and varied running *** solve the problem,we proposed a novel SOA portfolio optimization algorithm based on value model and graph ***,in order to strengthen the QoS analytical capacity of SOA,the value model is introduced into the SOA system to describe customer's service requirements of both function and non-function ***,a directed graph of SOA services and a value dependence graph of services are provided,as well as a service portfolio optimization algorithm designed based on the ***,the simulated data case is used to analyze and verify the methods proposed in this *** result shows that introducing the value model and graph algorithm into the SOA-based service system can effectively improve the quality of service portfolio.
