This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed proceedings of the internationalworkshops on behavior and socialinformatics and computing, bsic 2013, held as collocated event of IJCAI 2013, in Beijing, China in August 2013 and the internationalworkshop on behavior and socialinformatics, BSI 2013, held as satellite workshop of PAKDD 2013, in Gold Coast, Australia, in April 2013. The 23 papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 58 submissions. The papers study a wide range of techniques and methods for behavior/social-oriented analyses including behavioral and social interaction and network, behavioral/social patterns, behavioral/social impacts, the formation of behavioral/social-oriented groups and collective intelligence and behavioral/social intelligence emergence.
The proceedings contain 22 papers. The topics discussed include: mining frequent sequences using itemset-based extension;network flow based collective behavior analysis;design, conduct and analysis of a biased voting ...

The proceedings contain 22 papers. The topics discussed include: mining frequent sequences using itemset-based extension;network flow based collective behavior analysis;design, conduct and analysis of a biased voting experiment on human behavior;using mobile phone location data for urban activity analysis;dynamic user behavior-based piracy propagation monitoring in wireless peer-to-peer networks;semantic change computation: a successive approach;a connectionist model-based approach to centrality discovery in social networks;the influence in twitter: are they really influenced?;micro-blog post topic drift detection based on LDA model;a network-based approach for collaborative filtering recommendation;a novel framework for improving recommender diversity;RNRank: network-based ranking on relational tuples;and interaction-based social relationship type identification in microblog.
Identifying key nodes in networks, in terms of centrality measurement, is one of the popular research topics in network analysis. Various methods have been proposed with different interpretations of centrality. This p...

Online social networks have been evolving at a rate much greater than expected. One of the prominent features of social networks is the evolution of communities which can be characterized as a group of people who share a common relationship or tie among themselves. As the penetration of social network is increasing in our lives, so is the interest of researchers in this field. Earlier studies on social network analysis mainly focused on static network structures rather than dynamic processes, however with the passage of time, the networks have also evolved and the researchers have started to focus on the aspect of studying dynamic behavior of networks. The paper discusses the main elements in social network analysis from network perspective to community detection and presents experimental results of analysis of our Facebook network.
