In this work we study a problem which has been bothering both passengers and operators in the public transportation system long enough - the Bus Bunching Problem. It typically means two or more buses of the same service route getting too close together so that they "bunch" each other. It is undesired because it usually increases the waiting time of passengers before and after the arrival of the bunched buses. We analyze the cause of the bus bunching problem, and propose a new solution, namely the FlaxiFare Bus System, to reduce the problem. It is different from existing solution because it works on fixing the demand of passengers from the passenger's side, instead of solely on the supply side of bus operators and drivers.

Mobile cloud computing, which comes up in recent years, is a new computing paradigm. In mobile cloud, mobile users can access and schedule the resources or services in remote clouds via wireless networks, which we call mobile cloud task scheduling. They even can build mobile micro-cloud (MuCloud) with mobile device to provide lightweight service. However, unreliable wireless connection and dynamic join and quit of MuCloud make task scheduling in mobile cloud face more challenges than in wired cloud. Moreover, from both the users and service providers' perspective, task scheduling is a multi-objective optimization problem. Small makespan and load balancing are pursued by mobile users and cloud service providers respectively. In this paper, we advance a demand-driven task scheduling model and introduce an estimate method to predict warranty complete time of tasks in wireless network. An improved genetic algorithm using 2D chromosome (2DCGA) is presented to tackle multi-objective task scheduling. Simulation experiments show: 1) compared with Markov model, our estimate method has higher accuracy of prediction and more reasonable prediction results of probability of task scheduling failure;2) 2DCGA has good performance for task scheduling. When compared with IGA, it has smaller makespan and lower deviation of load;3) objective priority can be adjusted exactly by weights of fitness functions. It makes 2DCGA suitable for multi-objective optimization.

The proposed 6-Hop P2P (6-Hop) is an improved overlay network topology that intends to enhance the current P2P that houses a file sharing and media broadcasting (FSMB) application. A P2P system provides a serverless platform for the current FSMB application. It allows media files in each peer to be located by other peers in the network using any word in the file name. The current FSMB application is a closed system where only registered peers can join the overlay network. However, the current broadcasting system has shown some aspects of inefficiency. Two principle weaknesses identified are as follow: query messages flood the overlay network which taking up the bandwidth of the network;and, the search service is not reliable. When a new peer joins the P2P-based FSMB system, registered peers will randomly join clusters in the network. When a peer queries a specific or part of a file name, the current P2P examine all the peers and all the files in each peer. This has resulted in low recall rate and heavy query messages in the overlay network. The proposed 6-Hop P2P is an overlay network that adopts small-world characteristics attempting to improve the recall rate and to reduce the amount of query messages. The proposed P2P is designed using the "similarity interest" value to reduce unnecessary routing and to cut down the number of hops required by the search. It also rewires peers base on recall-rate learning algorithm to form clusters relying on the 'interest' bit value of QRP table. This paper presents the proposed 6-Hop model and the work-in-progress results with a short discussion on its prototype.

English grammatical error correction has become a hot topic in natural language processing domain in recent years. Since CoNLL-2014 Shared Task, Scholars have proposed new architectures, designed optimization algorithm, and implemented models whose performance were greatly enhanced. In this paper, we introduce a novel GEC model called PNS2E. By introducing a pre-correction checker and a post-selection language model, a better evaluation result than the baseline on the test set of the CoNLL-2014 Shared Task is achieved. © 2020 ieee.

Game refinement idea is a unique theory that has been proposed based on the uncertainty of game outcome. A game refinement measure was derived from the game information progress model and has been applied in the domains such as board games and sports games. The present challenge is to apply the game refinement theory in the domain of RTS games. To do so, we use StarCraft II as a testbed and introduce a concept of strategy tree in order to construct a game tree of a RTS game. Then, game refinement values are calculated and compared with other type of games. It is found that StarCraft II has a zone value of game refinement.

One of the modern directions of unconventional computing is presented by biological computing. The new branch of this direction deals with computing on Physarum polycephalum, the one-cell organism building intelligent networks. In this paper, first, we propose the design method of reversible logic gates by using attractants and repellents as outer stimuli for Physarum polycephalum. This method is based on the theory of permutation groups which allows to define logic gates combinations as multiplication of permutation matrices. Reversible logic gates on Physarum polycephalum are exemplified by the NOT and CNOT gates. Second, we propose the new design method to construct reversible logic gates without repellents. In this way, we should appeal to the so-called non-linear permutation groups. These groups contain non-well-founded objects such as infinite streams and their families. The theory of non-linear permutation groups proposed in this paper for the first time can be used for designing reversible logic gates on any behavioral systems.

This paper describes a top-down approach to design a Sigma-Delta based modulator for analog to digital conversion. The primary focus is on designing an ADC for audio application, thus, the conversion is done on a 22.05 kHz bandwidth with a 16-bit resolution (CD quality). The behavioural code of the modulator is created first to check the signal ranges on internal nodes. Next, the circuit non-idealities, such as, finite Op-Amp gain, finite latency of Op-Amp and comparator offset are introduced to derive the tolerable limits and the specification of sub-blocks. Later, the individual blocks are carefully designed in 0.35 μm CMOS technology and are integrated. SpicE-based simulation is carried out on the entire circuit and the results are validated with MATLAB. © 2014 ieee.

An evolving design approach to fuzzy logic controllers (FLCs) is proposed. The FLC to be evolved is composed of a set of univariate fuzzy control rules, allowing to have a better understanding of the influence of each input variable on the controller's behavior. The criterion to add new control rules is based on a novelty detection criterion allowing to detect data which are considered new, unknown, or badly representative, with respect to the learned FLC. The proposed approach is tested on a Two-Tank process controlled in a networked environment under a proof-of-concept platform, named KhronoSim, for testing cyberphysical systems in closed-loop. The proposed approach has successfully evolved/designed the FLC, controlling the process on unknown (for the controller) regions of operation.
