This paper presents a test case for KhronoSim, a platform for testing Cyber-Physical Systems in closed loop. The test case consists of a satellite in a sun-synchronous orbit. Dynamic physics models have been implemented to simulate the positions and orientation of the different astronomical bodies, as well as the effects of the actuators. These are capable of controlling the satellite's and solar panels' attitudes, currently measured by coarse sun sensors. The test case is implemented under a proof-of-concept of KhronoSim in the form of eleven distributed modules, each containing models of the environment and satellite components which are simulated by means of solving ordinary differential equations via the Runge-Kutta method.

Engineering informatics is an emerging engineering discipline combining information technology with a variety of engineering disciplines. It is a new interdisciplinary subject focusing on the application of computing technologies in a variety of engineering disciplines. Before the need for engineering informatics was formally presented in 2007 and the term "engineering informatics" was coined in 2007 and 2008, a scientific and engineering discipline called Industrial Information Integration Engineering (IIIE) was formally proposed and recognized by international organizations IFIP and ieee in 2005. The concept of IIIE emphasizes multiple aspects, including one of the major aspects that is completely overlapping with the scope of engineering informatics: engineering information integration. The advances in industrial information integration methods have spurred tremendous growth of a variety of techniques that have been used for probing industrial information integration including engineering information integration. These techniques include business process management, workflow management, EAI, SOA, and others. Such techniques are originated from different disciplines and have the potential for significantly improving the performance of engineering informatics. Many applications require a combination of the techniques. In particular, formal methods and systems methods are crucial for modeling complex engineering systems. This paper is focusing on one of the major aspects of IIIE that is completely overlapping with the scope of engineering informatics: engineering information integration.

Cloud computing provides simplicity to its consumers by saving them the efforts to deal with their own infrastructure, environments or software. This simplicity relies on the shifting of problems from the client to the provider, introducing new paradigms (virtualization, scalability, flexibility, pay-per-use, etc.). This simplicity comes with a price for the consumer that may accurately, or not, reflect the costs of the provider. In this paper we propose to identify the different points, in the Cloud computing architecture, where the costs are generated, how their reduction/optimization are considered, and finally we point-out which of these key points need to be further investigated, according to their foreseeable efficiency. © 2014 ieee.

One of the traditional ways for detecting dynamic communities is to find the communities at each interval through the static community detection ***,it usually leads to high computation *** this paper,a novel algorithm based on the Map Reduce model and the label propagation progress with the strategy of incremental related vertices is proposed,which is called PLPIRV(Parallel Label Propagation and Incremental Related Vertices).Based on the communities found at the previous interval,the new algorithm adjusts the communities the incremental related vertices belong *** clustering of the whole network can be avoided by incrementally analyzing the variation of the networks,so that the time cost can be greatly *** on artificial and real datasets show that the proposed algorithm performs well on dynamic community detection.

The capabilities of Cyber-Physical Systems (CPSs) are increasingly being extended towards new composite services deployed across a range of smart sensing and controlling devices. These services enable the emergence of multiple end-to-end cyber-physical scenarios, formed dynamically based on their demands, e.g., disaster recovery systems. In such scenarios, each cyber-physical flow may be composed of a large number of physical services with composition challenges such as high dynamism of CPS platforms, rapid development and scalability, and real-time and reliable processing and controlling tasks. Cloud computing enables new perspectives in the design and operation of CPSs, including consolidating and sharing physical services among different applications, auto-scaling computing and communication, and designing and maintaining multiple in-Cloud CPSs dynamically at the same time. In this paper, we present a new architectural approach to address the key concerns of a new generation of CPS services whose functionalities reside in-Cloud (cyber), and on devices and systems (physical). In particular, this design space is focused on principles that allow in-Cloud evolution of CPS services, including dynamic in-Cloud service composition and distribution, virtualization of physical services and devices, and the dynamic creation of CPS ecosystems. In this design model, the in-Cloud cyber part may evolve independently, while the on-device cyber and physical platform still work closely together and provide the basic CPS services. © 2014 ieee.

As traditional Canny operator is manually determined in the threshold for edge detection, we presented an improved Canny algorithm based on adaptive two-dimensional Otsu and Newton Iterative. The algorithm bases on gray distribution characteristics of underwater suspended particles, it uses inter-class variance (Otsu) adaptive algorithm to determine the optimal threshold to connect and trace edge. To reduce computational complexity and traversal cycle, improve real-time capability in Otsu, we employ the Newton iteration method to quickly converge to the optimal high and low threshold of Canny Algorithm. The experimental results show that it can solve the contradiction between the noise filtering and edge maintenance. Therefore, it has strong robustness and adaptability. © 2017 ieee.

In this paper, we propose a 3D indoor map building method based on Monte Carlo localization in 2D map. The traditional 3D SLAM mainly adopts the visual odometry technology for robot localization. However, the visual localization has a poor real-time performance. Besides, in some special scenarios, such as corridors, the visual localization may generate matching errors, resulting in cumulative errors. These errors will lead to a wrong robot localization. The Monte Carlo localization based on lidar in 2D map can achieve a higher localization accuracy. Therefore, we use the above method to replace the visual localization while using a kinect to collect 3D environment information. To study the performance of the proposed method, we make some experiments and compare with the popular open source RGB-D SLAM system based on visual localization provided by Felix Endres et al. in 2014. The experimental results demonstrate that our method has better effect in the indoor corridor environment with less features.

This paper is carried out to critically examine and evaluate the implementation of offline data transfer, most commonly known as sneakernet. This work reviews the details of the available information of the current and proposes possible future deployment of sneakernet. The idea of the concept theory is based on the available and future advancement of the technology. The expensive data transfer for delay-tolerant applications is solved in this work by employing massive sneakernet in various range utilization. This concept is able to reduce the burden of backbone networks and still be able to bring the information from source to destination securely. Another advantages of the proposed concept are the introduction of the security layer during information in transit. The viability of the concept is assessed based on the use-cases and the standard sneakernet procedure. © 2020 ieee.

Here a work in progress is reported on within research that aims to obtain knowledge about variables which may influence a hospital emergency department's performance and quality of service. Knowledge discovery will be achieved through the analysis of intensive data generated by the simulation of any possible scenario in the real system. The challenge is to provide knowledge of critical, non-usual or extreme situations. Simulation is the only way to obtain information about these kinds of situations, as it is not possible to test such scenarios in the real system. We show how simulation of the real system through advanced computing is a source of big data, as it allows rapid and massive data generation. The potential of high performance computing makes it possible to generate a very large amount of data within a reasonable time, store this data, then process and analyze it to obtain knowledge. We describe the methodology proposed for this goal, which is based on the use of the simulator as a sensor of the real system, and so as the main source of data. The application of data mining techniques will open the doors to knowledge. To verify that the proposed methodology works, we propose a case study in which the aim is to obtain knowledge from a set of data already available, obtained from the simulation of a reduced set of scenarios of the real system.

For the longest time, translation was a labor-intensive process that required just human effort. While human translation remains the most reliable method of textual content translation, it takes longer and is more expensive if done for each individual piece of information. Several Machine Translation (MT) approaches have recently emerged to facilitate the migration of any content across languages, especially for the low resource languages such as the Arabic Language. Given that Arabic is one of the world's most widely spoken languages, the task of Arabic machine translation has recently gotten a lot of interest from the scientific community. Indeed, the amount of study devoted to these low resources languages has resulted in some significant accomplishments;however, the status of Arabic MT systems falls short of the quality obtained for other languages. As a result, this survey examines the origins and main development timeline of MT approaches, investigates the significant branches, and categorizes different study orientations. In addition, it gives a comprehensive overview of the key research works that have been completed in the field of Arabic Neural MT (ANMT) and discusses possible future research prospects in this discipline. © 2022 ieee.
