In this work an optimized approach of power control during soft handoff in downlink direction of WCDMA systems is proposed which is based on unbalanced power control scheme in which in the downlink direction all base stations in the active set transmit with different power to the MS based on the level of attenuation to the MS. Compared to balanced and unbalanced power control schemes adopted by 3rd Generation Partnership Program (3GPP) in downlink direction proposed power control scheme during soft handoff reduces the additional interference caused by multiple site transmission and minimizes the overall transmitted power, thus increases the downlink capacity but compromises in the macro-diversity gain due to soft handoff. The proposed scheme is particularly suitable in the environments which face poor propagation attenuation.

Scheduling enables the cloud in balancing the large amount of load present in the system for faster computation. It plays a vital and significant part in the execution of the load in the various heterogeneous systems. The scheduling portrays a selection of resources for the tasks for better resource utilization. This paper differentiates the various load scheduling algorithms applied in the various heterogeneous systems in detail. It plays a key role in larger resource utilization and handling. This paper defines the basic cloud computing fundamentals and the concept of load balancing i.e., scheduling of load in cloud. The applied load scheduling algorithms are elaborated and surveyed extensively.

With rise in the use of internet in various fields like banking, military and government sector, the security and privacy of the data has been the main concern. Today, most of the data handling and electronic transactions are done on the internet. When the information is transferred from the sender to the receiver over the internet, it may be eavesdropped by an intruder and thus is a continuous threat to the secrecy or confidentiality of the data. The popular technique that protects the confidentiality of the data is cryptography which converts the plain text into unreadable form and then receiver applies reverse mechanism to decrypt the unreadable form of data to readable form. This mechanism is called as encryption-decryption process. Thus to secure the data over the internet, it is important to find out which algorithm performs better than the other algorithms. In this paper, the different symmetric encryption algorithms like DES, 3DES, AES have been analyzed with respect to different parameters and data types (like text files, image) on i7 processor.

Three practical meteorological applications with different characteristics are used to highlight the usability of a computer science workflow middleware called ASKALON by allowing easy access to distributed computing for atmospheric scientists. Utilizing Cloud and grid computing, this paper shows use case scenarios fitting a wide range of applications from operational to research studies with real world examples from meteorological research. The paper concludes that distributed computing is easily usable for meteorological problems using ASKALON. This powerful tool allows simple and cost effective access to computing capacity from grid and Cloud environments.

Today many applications are developed using distributed technologies such as cluster, cloud and grid computing. These applications demand more resources for computation and storage. They demand flexible scaling and improved performance. Application now days can make use of multiple nodes (machines) to get the tasks completed. In this paper we discuss the, implementation details of a grid computing framework known as gridSys. This framework provides a fast and easy way to program a grid. It can easily help the application break the problem to compute intensive tasks. The framework distributes these tasks to different nodes of the grid efficiently and easily aggregate the results of these tasks provide fault tolerance and reliability.

Recent advances in computational power, memory, display etc. have propelled mobile and hand held devices as a platform to display and execute a variety of applications. Popular platform vendors like Nokia S60, iPhone, Samsung and Android offer extensive middleware support which helps in developers' port and in packaging of different application modules in a suitable format. These devices have several features like processing power, memory, energy, which exhibit the ability of these devices for performing complex tasks. Nowadays multi core processor architecture like Quad-Core Processor up to 3.0 GHz and Java enabled Android operating systems mobile devices are coming into the market which have potential for support and enhancements for an enterprise. In a complex and critical real time production support enterprise environment, a middleware production support analyst is primarily responsible to access, analyze the performance and control the middleware production application servers in a faster and precise manner. Production support analyst may or may not be available to Unix Production servers at all times due to many reasons. In this work a novel approach, Performance Analysis of Middleware distributed and clustered Systems (PAMS), is proposed using Android application by which a production support analyst can still support all critical real time web based application servers while he is away from the Unix based Middleware application server and can ensure that the same is available and accessible to their customers. An Android based application is proposed which will communicate to higher production layers installed in secure network of an organization and gather the data for performance monitoring and analysis. With the proposed concept production support analyst can easily login and open the console of middleware application servers using VPN (Virtual Private Network) and take immediate necessary actions so that business flow should not be impacted and enterpri

With depleting fossil reserves, increasing cost and global focus on reducing emissions, efforts for increasing participation of renewable energy sources have gained momentum. The smart micro grid technology is therefore growing very fast with the aim of improving efficiency and reliability and facilitating integration of distributed energy resources (DER). The economical operation of smart grid is a very big challenge for operators in the deregulated power sector. Decision making with multiple conflicting objectives is a complex task and traditional methods do not work well in practical uncertain environment. This paper presents a technique based on time-varying differential evolution (TVDE) for optimal scheduling of DERs in a micro-grid. A fuzzy decision making is carried out to rank the different solutions in order of their merit, considering both, cost and emission reduction objectives. Pareto optimal solution set is generated to cover the full operating range of DERs. The proposed approach is validated on a 4-distributed Energy Resources and 14-Bus radial micro network and the results are found to be promising.

Current state-of-the-art infrastructure-centric deployment and management of distributed web-scale applications cannot scale and meet the demands of changing workloads and increasing demands on application availability, mobility and security. The DIME network architecture has matured during the last four years to offer an alternative to provide a post-Hyper visor, Hyper-Cloud network of applications spanning across physical or virtual servers with self-management properties. The first paper presented in this conference, addresses a new computing architecture. A second paper describes an implementation showing its usefulness in addressing fault, configuration, accounting, performance, as well security of service transactions spanning across data enters and multiple clouds with or without virtualization. In addition, infrastructure optimization strategies for Cloud computing continue to provide a fertile ground for research and five papers address these topics. Two papers address scheduling and optimization issues in grid computing while three more papers address various aspects of content management, distributed and parallel computing. The remaining papers embrace interesting topics related to applications of Cloud computing in different areas of scientific Cloud computing, collaborative platforms, and big data analysis. © 2014 ieee.
