This paper presents a modified fruit fly optimization algorithm(FOA). The proposed modified FOA establishes a balanced tradeoff between exploration and exploitation, and thus overcomes original FOA's drawbacks of premature convergence and easy trapping in a local optima. In the proposed modified FOA, firstly, the whole population performs a global search;Secondly, the whole population are sequenced in descending order by the individual fitness value;Thirdly, every n consecutive individuals are divided intoa meme group, then every meme group iteratively performs a deep search around the local optima;Finally, all the meme groups are mixed, and then the above process is implemented iteratively until meeting the end conditions. The modified FOA efficiently avoids relapsing intolocal optima and improves convergence precision. Finally, our modified algorithm was validated against the original by testing on six standard benchmark functions, and comparisons show that the performance of the proposed modified FOA is much better than original FOA.

Ant Colony Optimization Algorithms are the most successful and widely accepted algorithmic techniques based on the decentralized collaborative behavior of real ants when foraging for food. The initialization of pheromone in these algorithms is an important step because it dictates the speed of the system's convergence tothe optimal solution. All the proposed initialization techniques in the literature use a single value toinitialize the pheromone on all edges. In our paper, instead of using a constant or a pre-calculated value toinitialize the pheromone the edges, we propose a local pheromone initialization technique thatinvolves the ants initializing the edges, using local information, as they encounter the edges for the first time. We tested our proposed local initialization using the Ant Colony System algorithm tosolve the Travelling Salesman Problem. Our approach, when compared tothe standard initialization approaches, provided better results in more than 70% of the tested datasets. Also, our algorithm did not require an initialization for all edges. In general, our local pheromone initialization approach was successful in achieving a balance between the solution quality and the time required toconstruct that solution even in the cases in which it was not able tofind the optimal path.

The educational landscape continues to transform significantly in a way that it engages students' interest and improves learning processes. Such an example is the gradual use of educational games, which seem to be an exceptional means to motivate and engage students in ways that will make learning more challenging and interesting for them. However, although educational games are a very interesting tool that could be used in education, an interesting challenge that should be addressed is the identification of all the ways students' progress and results can be measured for examination. This way, there is a high demand for accountability regarding the measurement and analysis of enriched game based learning activities or game-based learning analytics (GBLA). This demand is especially highlighted in one of the most difficult areas of Computer Science, which is computer programming education. In this paper, we are proposing a framework that will guide the incorporation of learning analytics mechanisms in computer programming education. We demonstrate this process through the implementation of the framework in an educational Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game we have developed for the domain.

Warehousing is an important guarantee for well running materials supply and logistics. And warehousing process directly affects the normal operation of the business. Therefore, how toguarantee the optimal warehousing process and complete it on-demand has become a topic which is worth studying. There are many problems existing in the warehousing business. According tothe analysis of the current situation of traditional warehousing business process, the paper proposes a basic idea of reengineering warehousing business process based on the Internet of things technology. The Internet of Things technology can achieve timely and accurate information collection and sharing soit takes great advantages in the warehousing business process reengineering. From the analysis of storage, stock and release these three big chains of operations, the paper studies the business process reengineering solutions based on the Internet of things technology and makes a before and after comparison of the warehousing business process reengineering in the form of flow charts, then formulates the warehousing system framework based on the Internet of things environment, and then further analyzes, integrates and optimizes the warehousing business, finally reengineers the operation process.

A SDRAM like conventional memories can be affected by the occurrence of single event upsets(SEUs) which can lead toserious faults such as single-bit error. In order tocope with this effect of SEUs, a fault-tolerant SDRAM controller is proposed instead of previous approaches that required modifications tothe internal structure of the SDRAM itself. For one thing, an optimized encoder and decoder based the(40, 32) Hamming code are integrated toeliminate the problem of single-bit error. Moreover, in the context of error correction, a write request shift register chain is adopted toprefetch the subsequence write requests, and simultaneously a data correction shift register chain is applied tohide the delay of write-back intothe following accesses. Besides, with the dynamic combination of twochains, a reconfigurable new chain can be generated toachieve the goal that the burst read data, corrected data and requested write data can be issued seamlessly. Simulation results show that, the optimized encoder and decoder reduce 16.45% area overhead with the slight delay, and the proposed structure could alsoreduce 11.2% execution time of the test program.

Cyber-attacks are increasing at an alarming rate and the attackers have progressively improved in devising attacks towards specific targets. To further develop the area of cyber-attack communication, we propose an ontology based issue resolution system used to identify and defend against cyber-attacks. The issue resolution system (IRS) facilitates attack discovery and suggestive defenses for a small to medium sized organizations. We validate our IRS Ontology using qualitative study of security expert professionals and highlight future work intended to simulate the IRS in a virtual attack test environment.

For the network environment with the limited transmission capacity, a multi-nodes image retrieval method based on visual words is proposed. Firstly, the visual words of query image are built by using the K-means clustering method after the color features and SIFT features of query image are extracted. Then the visual-words histogram of the query image is carried by the mobile Agent. The image similarity in each node is measured with the Euclidean distance. The results of image retrieval are returned tothe user. Finally the weight-based relevance feedback method is utilized tooptimize the retrieved results. Experimental results show that the proposed method can improve the speed and the accuracy of the image retrieval.

With the proliferation of WiFi-enabled devices, people expect to be able to use them everywhere, be it at work, while commuting, or when visiting friends. In the latter case, home owners are confronted with the burden of controlling the access to their WiFi router, and usually resort to simply sharing the password. Although convenient, this solution breaches basic security principles, and puts the burden on the friends who have to enter the password in each and every of their devices. The use of social networks, specifying the trust relations between people and devices, provides for a more secure and more friendly authentication mechanism. In this paper, we progress the state-of-the-art by abandoning the centralized solution to embed social networks in WiFi authentication; we introduce EAP-SocTLS, a decentralized approach for authentication and authorization of WiFi access points and other devices, exploiting the embedded trust relations. In particular, we address the (quadratic) search complexity when indirect trust relations, like the smartphone of a friend's kid, are involved. We show that the simple heuristic of limiting the search to friends and devices in physical proximity makes for a scalable solution. Our prototype implementation, which is based on WebID and EAP-TLS, uses WiFi probe requests to determine the pool of neighboring devices and was shown to reduce the search time from 1 minute for the naive policy down to 11 seconds in the case of granting access over an indirect friend.

Clustering is a semi-supervised or unsupervised algorithm for classifying a set of data according tounderlying characteristics or similarity. There are many different algorithms for different applications. Each algorithm has its advantages tosome special fields. As tothe data obtained from an automotive LUX- LIDAR, the existing algorithms are failed tocluster them accurately or efficiently. Itis because that the distances between points are non-uniform and the number of objects is unknown and the object's shape and size are arbitrary. Then, we propose a new clustering algorithm for this kind of LIDAR's sparse data. In the algorithm we introduce a variant described as adaptive attractor. The adaptive attractor is determined by the datasetitself. It determines which class the point belongs to. Compared tothe existing clustering algorithm, the advantage of the algorithm lies in the following:i) itis able toclassify object with arbitrarily shape and size;ii) the object's number in the ROI is unknown;iii) similarities between data features of different objects are not fixed;iv) its time complexity is low;v) itis simple.

In this paper, we present PlantC AD, a graphic toolkit for the creation, simulation and analysis of 3D virtual plants. This C++-based geometric toolkit allows easy generation of plant organs including leaves, fruits, branches, petioles and even nonbotanical things which makes it a powerful userinteractive platform for plant modeling in various biological application. Based on the basic geometric components dedicated todifferent organs, PlantC AD provides several methods tocreate plant structure from either real measured data or procedural models. Realistic appearance of the generated 3D plants is improved by using texture mapping and including hairs that cover many plant organs. Several examples from different modelling applications illustrate how Plant CAD can be used toconstruct, analyse or manipulate geometric models at different scales ranging from organs toplant communities.
