As the game industry matures, processing complex game logics in a timely manner is no longer an insurmountable problem. Many researchers are now trying to find ways to optimize the gaming system regarding the network usage, local resource utilization, and energy consumption. However, current cloud-based mobile gaming solutions are limited by their relatively high requirements on Internet resources. Also, they typically do not consider the geographical locations of nearby mobile users and thus ignore the potential cooperation among users. Therefore, inspired by existing cloud computing techniques and the concept of ad-hoc cloudlet computing, in this paper, we propose an ad-hoc cloudlet based gaming architecture. Two modules of the architecture are introduced: 1) progressive game resources download, by which mobile users can adaptively download gaming resources from cloud servers or nearby mobile users according to the gaming progress, and 2) ad-hoc cloudlet-based cooperative task allocation, by which gaming components can be executed dynamically over local devices, nearby devices, or cloud servers. We also formulate the mechanism for both modules as an optimization problem and propose several algorithms for both modules, which are later used for evaluation purposes. We carry out simulations based on real mobility traces, and the results show that our system's performance depends highly on the ad-hoc network environment (the more concurrent and balanced connections within the ad-hoc network, the lower the energy costs). Also, regardless of the network environment, our system has lower energy costs while utilizing resources of nearby devices, compared to the cloud-based gaming architecture.

Non-traditional scenarios for Business Process Management (BPM) are often knowledge-intensive and driven by user decisions making it difficult to specify them into a set of activities with precedence relations at design-time. Adaptive Case Management (ACM) is gaining interest among researchers and practitioners as an emerging paradigm to master situations in which adaptions have to be made at run-time by so called knowledge workers. In contrast to workflow management the ACM paradigm is not dictating knowledge workers a predefined course of action, but provides them with the required information at the right time and authorizes them to make decisions on their own. Understanding current research challenges imposed by ACM is of utmost importance for the future evolution of this discipline as well as for the maturity of the BPM field. In this paper we present 77 codes referring to research challenges in ACM that have been revealed from an extensive literature review with scientific publications and books. We aggregated these codes to 13 concepts and categorized them into five distinct areas for data integration, theoretical foundation, authorization and role management, knowledge worker empowerment as well as knowledge storage and extraction. Main goal of this paper is to provide a thorough basis for the discussion of future research activities in the community which are indispensable for ACM.

Literature pertaining to geriatric care contains rich information regarding the best practices related to geriatric health care issues. The publication domain of geriatric care is small as compared to other health related areas, however, there are over a million articles pertaining to different cases and case interventions capturing best practice outcomes. The knowledge extracted from these articles could be harvested and translated from research to practice in a quicker and more efficient manner. Geriatric literature contains multiple domains that contain information such as interventions, information on care for elderly, case studies and real life scenarios. These articles contain a variety of causal relationships such as the relationship between interventions and disorders. The goal of this study is to identify these causal relations from published abstracts. Natural language processing and statistical methods were adopted to identify and extract these causal relations with a precision of 79.54% and recall of 81%.

This paper proposes an obfuscation method against illegal analysis. The proposed method tries to build a fake call flow graph from debugging tools. The call flow graph represents relations among methods, and helps understanding of a program. The fake call flow graph leads misunderstanding of the program. We focus on a hook mechanism of the method call for changing a callee. We conduct two experiments to evaluate the proposed method. First experiment simulates attacks by existing tools: Soot, jad, Procyon, and Krakatau. The Procyon only succeeded decompilation, the others crashed. Second experiment evaluates understandability of the obfuscated program by the hand. Only one subject in the nine subjects answered the correct value. The experiments shows the proposed method has good tolerance against existing tools, and high difficulty of understanding even if the target program is tiny and simple program.

In the field of software engineering, a very old and important issue is how to understand the software. Understanding software means more than understanding the source code; it also refers to the other facts related to that particular software. Sometimes even experienced developers can be overwhelmed by a project's extensive development capabilities. In the development process, project leaders (PLs) have overall knowledge about the project and are keenly aware of its vision. Other members have only partial knowledge of the functions assigned to them. In this research, we propose a model to design ontology to support software comprehension and handle issues of knowledge management throughout the development process. By applying our methodology, understanding software and managing knowledge can become possible in a systematic way for open source and commercial projects. Furthermore, it will help beginners become more involved in a project and contribute to it in a productive way.

We propose WELCOME, an innovative integrated care platform using wearable sensors and smart cloud computing for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) patients with co-morbidities. WELCOME aims to bring about a change in the reactive nature of the management of chronic diseases and its comorbidities, in particular through the development of a patient centred and proactive approach to COPD management. The aim of WELCOME is to support healthcare services to give early detection of complications (potentially reducing hospitalisations) and the prevention and mitigation of comorbidities (Heart Failure, Diabetes, Anxiety and Depression). The system incorporates patient hub, where it interacts with the patient via a light vest including a large number of non-invasive chest sensors for monitoring various relevant parameters. In addition, interactive applications to monitor and manage diabetes, anxiety and lifestyle issues will be provided to the patient. Informal carers will also be supported in dealing with their patients. On the other hand, welcome smart cloud platform is the heart of the proposed system where all the medical records and the monitoring data are managed and processed via the decision support system. Healthcare professionals will be able to securely access the WELCOME applications to monitor and manage the patient's conditions and respond to alerts on personalized level.

Social media allows customers to easily create their own community. Using social identity theory, we are able to explain important characteristics of these communities. These characteristics can be both beneficial and harmful to a company, depends on a situation. We are particularly interested in a crisis situation when company's decisions are critical to its reputation and even its survival. Our case study is the project of the Japanese company that planned to organize the concert of the music band with an aim to promote its brand and increase its customers. We had been cooperating with this company to promote the concert to fan community in Twitter. As we deploy our communication strategies to the community, we encountered several problems. These problems are discussed based on social identity theory and are concluded as practices that are open for future development and investigation. We propose that an effect of perceived in-group and out-group membership generate a resistance from community members when the company, which is identified as an out-group, tries to promote the concert in the community. The company may reduce this resistance by creating a bridge between itself and the community. This bridge can be done by cooperating with some community members. We also found that many of community members create another account, separated from their personal account, only for communication with other fans. This fact helps the company reduces its budget and human resource required to monitor the community, and enable the company to define more effective strategies. Finally, using all practices that are presented, the company can finally achieve its goals. From our case study, we suggest several points for future systematic studies.
