Robotic manipulation of a flexible object is a challenging task due to the complexity in modeling and control. Moreover, at high speed, manipulation becomes a more difficult task. Using high-speed sensors and actuators can make such manipulation more easily achievable, thereby increasing a robot's usefulness. In this paper, we use a button spinner as an example. The objective is to observe and control the twisting of flexible threads at high speed. Our contributions are as follows: First, we develop an extended twisting model for a pair of threads. Second, we propose a practical method to measure the twist of the threads via angular position of a rotor. This method works even when the thread is being twisted at very high speed, more than sixteen thousands revolutions per minute, theoretically. Finally, we show the validity of our model using simulation. In our method, control of the button spinner is considered to be performed without any force feedback, only with visual feedback.

Topic modeling is a powerful tool to model documents to find their underlying topics. However, the unstructured nature of the raw text makes it hard to model the semantic relationship between the text units, which may be the words, phrases or sentences, and thus even harder to model their corresponding underlying topics. In our work, we try to examine the pairwise relationship of the underlying topics through relation extraction. We first extract the entity pairs within one relation tuple out of the raw text. Then, we model the relationship between the entity pairs by adding the dependencies between entities and their corresponding topics. We propose six different versions of Pairwise Topic Model (PTM) to simultaneously discover the latent topics and their pairwise relationship. The experiment on four data sets (AP news articles, DUC 2004 task2, Clinical Notes and Neuroscience Papers) shows the PTM models are better-structured language model than the traditional topic model Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA). Also, empirical results show that the proposed Pairwise Topic Models (PTMs) can explicitly explain how two topics are related.

There are numerous challenges for sustainable agriculture. One of them is to provide an inventory of natural resources, to allow their evaluation for a sustainable use in production systems for food, fiber, essences and energy. The generation and maintenance of this inventory requires efforts of strategic innovation management in order to reduce errors, inconsistencies and unpredictability, replacing them with precise diagnosis, monitoring, early exploration of problems, needs and requirements. Then, it should act as a guide for investment in organization of knowledge and generation of technology flows. This requires an easier access to organized and integrated data about natural resources of different biomes. however, this access is often hampered by a number of reasons, mainly due to their volume and heterogeneity. This paper describes the NatData platform, which is under development at the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa). It intends to overcome the challenges, aiming to integrate data from Brazilian natural resources, preserving their semantic and allowing different users to access the data.

Wireless multihop access network is an appropriate approach to providing Internet access to applications such as last-mile and rural area communications, disaster recovery, etc. However, the realization of the existing wireless access networks is still limited. The main reasons are that they require particular hardware and software to be installed at pre-defined locations, or it is costly to deploy enough density nodes in a vast area for network formation. This paper proposes a novel approach to automatically set up multihop access networks, bringing Internet connectivity to users by leveraging their commodity mobile devices. In this work, a single Wifi interface equipped mobile device is transformed into a virtual access point (VAP) using wireless virtualization. As a result, each node works in both the station (STA) and the VAP modes to connect with each other forming tree-based networks which extend the Internet connectivity. Users can access Internet through the proposed network easily as if they are connected to the conventional access points (APs) and unconsciously contribute to the network extension. A prototype has been implemented and evaluated to confirm the feasibility as well as the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Since 1998, the Spanish and Portuguese Administrations began toshare a common path in building the Iberian Electricity Market(MIBEL). This cooperation has been very successful, not only for its contribution tothe existence of an electricity market on an Iberian level, but alsoon a European scale, as a significant step in building the Internal Energy *** price of electricity in the MIBEL is very changeable. This creates a lot of uncertainty and risk in market actors. Due tocontinuous changes in demand and marginal price adjustment,buyers and sellers can not know in advance the evolution of prices. Our interestis tostudy of this uncertainty since the perspective of the buyer and not the seller's perspective. The aim of this work is todevelop a graphical analysis of the variables involved in the Spanish Energy Marketin order toexplain the electric price and provide tosmall traders, that could be interested in participating in that market, better knowledge of the schedule. On the other hand, large industrial consumers use this information todesign strategies tooptimize its production capacity and improve their production costs. In this article the variable of interestis the marginal price instead of *** paper provides a graphical analysis by means of an easily reproducible automatization with the R project for statistical computing that allows toexplore, visualize and understand the key variables that define its final value. Mibel 2011 and 2012 data are used for ilustrations. The results show the importance of the calendar effect, seasonality and trend as principal factors totake intoaccount for posterior fases:modeling and forecasting.

In this paper, we use hypergraph model topredict the stock trends. Sometimes, itis hard toknow what a certain stock will dotomorrow. But here we make each stock as a vertex of a hypergraph and the relations, going up or down of stocks, are abstracted as hyperedges. If some stocks have the same actions, going up or down together, during k days, we can build a hyperedge among these stocks. According tothe actions of stocks in the last several months, the hypergraph for these stocks is established. Furthermore, the problem of stocks trends prediction is translated intothe clustering of the hypergraph. The stocks in the same cluster set always have the same trends. Then the trend of one stock can be predicted by the rest stocks in the same set. And, of course, what the stock did during the last several days should be alsotaken intoaccount for the prediction. In order toget an accurate prediction, we set a new optimization index for the segmentation of a hypergraph, which is called modularity. Through the definition of modularity, itis not necessary for us topreset the partitioning number any more. When the modularity is immediately below the critical value, the partitioning is stopped automatically. Experiment result shows that our proposed scheme achieves fine stock trend prediction.

Feeds are user-generated contents or actions i online social network(OSN). Users generate feeds for sel expression and view feeds generated by friends. In this paper, w try toanalyze activities of users in one OSN by exploring tw aspects:whether users are becoming inactive in generating feed and how these inactive users affect the feeds received by othe users and thus cause collapse of the whole social network. W study the life cycle and feed inter-event time of users in community of RenR en, and find that more and more users ar decreasing the activity in generating feeds and as a resultit cause the decrease of velocity and diversity of feeds received by user Our simulation shows when 30% of users become inactive i generating feeds, the whole community will be affected an collapse in a short time.

This paper is built upon prior research on enterprise knowledge sharing. Our objective is toexplore the role of affect among knowledge workers on adoption of knowledge sharing tools(KST). We examine twodifferent constructs:positive affect and negative affect and their relationships. These affective constructs will be added intoTAM(Technology Adoption Model) developed by Davis. Positive affect like joy, happiness, contentment, interest and enthusiasm have been largely neglected in both basic and applied disciplines that deal with affect. A lot of researchers pay attention tostudy on negative affect;this is because positive affect poses more difficulties in information systems research. Hence a lot of models on affect that were developed neglected the role of positive affectin these studies. As more research works focus on different states of affect by Information Systems researchers, this provides us with strong basis tojustify and rationalize the need toconsider states of affectin our research works. This study uses survey toconduct an empirical investigation. Our instruments are designed based on the Technology Affect Scale developed by Perlusz [23]. The data collected will be analyzed toensure internal consistency and reliability of variables is achieved. This research study was among the first touse Technology Acceptance model embedding the role of affectin the context of enterprise knowledge sharing using knowledge tools.

The technology of vehicle videodetecting and tracking has been playing an important role in the ITS(Intelligent Transportation Systems) field during recent years. The occlusion phenomenon among vehicles is one of the most difficult problems related tovehicle tracking. In order tohandle occlusion, this paper proposes an effective solution that applied Markov Random Field(MRF) tothe traffic images. The contour of the vehicle is firstly detected by using background subtraction, then numbers of blocks with vehicle's texture and motion information are filled inside each vehicle. We extract several kinds of information of each block toprocess the following tracking. As for each occlusive block, twogroups of clique functions in MRF model are defined, which represents spatial correlation and motion coherence respectively. By calculating each occlusive block's total energy function, we finally solve the attribution problem of occlusive blocks. The experimental results show that our method can handle occlusion problems effectively and track each vehicle continuously.

Cardiac output(CO) is the key indicator of the state of cardiac function. Torealize noninvasive, continuous, portable reproducible cardiac output monitoring, we design a cardiac output monitoring system based on photoplethysmography(PPG)which is stable, non-invasive and convenient tocollect. Kcalibration algorithm is used in the software part of this system The main idea of K-calibration algorithm is tocalibrate the constant K value on the basis of the relationship between the stroke volume(SV) and PPG from invasive SV, then combine the K value and the noninvasive PPG tocalculate the SV, and calculate CO from SV. We collect the invasive SV by FloT rac / Vigileomonitor, and at the same time collect the PPG signals and some other parameters, then combine the calibrated K value and PPG tocalculate SV. After making a correlation analysis with the calculated SV and the invasive SV, the result shows that they have a good correlation with each other. Making a comparison between the continuous CO collected by our designed monitoring system in real time and the invasive CO collected by the FloT rac Vigileomonitoring system will be our follow-up job. And the achievement can be used in mobile or wearable instrument.
