In our previous work, we presented WMN-GA (Wireless Mesh Networks-Genetic Algorithm) system. In this paper, we use WMN-GA and analyze the simulation results considering packet delivery ratio (PDR), throughput and delay metrics. For simulations, we used ns-3 simulator and Hybrid Wireless Mesh Protocol (HWMP). We evaluate the performance of WMN for Exponential and Weibull distributions by sending multiple constant bit rate (CBR) flows and different transmission rates in the network. From simulation results, we found that for 10, 20 and 30 number of connections, the PDR is less than 60% when the transmission rate is more than 1200 kbps for Exponential distribution. The PDR for Weibull distribution is higher than Exponential distribution. For different number of connections, the throughput is increased linearly with the increasing of the transmission rate. The throughput of Exponential distribution is higher than Weibull distribution. With increasing of the number of the connections and the transmission rate, the delay is increased. For 10 connections, the delay is very small until the transmission rate is 800 kbps. The delay of Exponential distribution is smaller than that of Weibull distribution.

An agent team with differentiated skill profiles of individual members, that performs a task in a dynamic environment which exhibits significant unpredictable changes, may need to adjust its work organization in order to maintain satisfactory performance. The uncertainty of long-term effects of such modifications favors reactive, incremental, and decentralized approaches. This paper explores the idea that such approaches should be based on flexible, dynamic combinations of complementary adjustment strategies. We investigate the effects of several strategies and their combinations on the performance of teamwork in a microworld setting. The strategies are represented by simple abstract models, whose impacts on team performance are studied experimentally using the Agent Interaction Model Simulator (AIMS) framework. The specific strategies include: independent replanning of individual subtasks;direct mutual help among teammates;and bilateral swapping of subtasks in progress among the team members. The results demonstrate that some of the component strategies are more adaptable and valuable than others, but that a well-formed combination regularly outperforms any single method. We also identify and discuss the challenges arising in the design and implementation of combined interaction protocols, formulate an improved version of the Requester-Initiated Action Mutual Assistance Protocol (RIAMAP), and introduce an interaction protocol for subtask swapping.

The proposed 6-Hop P2P(6-Hop) is an improved overlay network topology thatintends toenhance the current P2 P that houses a file sharing and media broadcasting(FSMB) application. A P2 P system provides a serverless platform for the current FSMB application. It allows media files in each peer tobe located by other peers in the network using any word in the file name. The current FSMB application is a closed system where only registered peers can join the overlay network. However, the current broadcasting system has shown some aspects of inefficiency. Twoprinciple weaknesses identified are as follow:query messages flood the overlay network which taking up the bandwidth of the network;and, the search service is not reliable. When a new peer joins the P2P-based FSMB system, registered peers will randomly join clusters in the network. When a peer queries a specific or part of a file name, the current P2 P examine all the peers and all the files in each peer. This has resulted in low recall rate and heavy query messages in the overlay network. The proposed 6-Hop P2 P is an overlay network that adopts smallworld characteristics attempting toimprove the recall rate and toreduce the amount of query messages. The proposed P2 P is designed using the "similarity interest" value toreduce unnecessary routing and tocut down the number of hops required by the search. It alsorewires peers base on recall-rate learning algorithm toform clusters relying on the 'interest' bit value of QRP table. This paper presents the proposed 6-Hop model and the work-in-progress results with a short discussion on its prototype.

A portable assessment system, PMEAS, based on the Pediatrics Milestone project, a joint initiative launched by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) to assess resident physicians, is presented in this paper. Using the cutting-edge mobile technology, such as iPad, as the system platform, simple and easy to use interface for teachers to specify the competency categories and provide evaluation of the residents and immediate feedback on their progress of learning after daily rounds, this system enables the implementation of the medical education assessment strategy.

The digital divide between urban and rural areas is now attracting active research. There are a host of reasons for this divide and this paper presents the work in progress about one proposed solution to a major technical problem causing this. It has been noted that the high frequency WiFi and similar signals are not well suited for the wilderness type of environment with dense foliage. Additionally, such terrains also impose stringent restriction on computational and electric power as well as in cost. This calls forth the need for a new type of signal that can work efficiently in such environments and a low cost, low bandwidth, low frequency signal that can possibly work is identified in the form of Sound. This paper presents a new network architecture that is designed to work with the low frequency, ubiquitous signals such as sound. The architecture can work in peer-to-peer ad-hoc networks mode, infrastructure mode, broadcast mode (for remote telemetry) etc. using wideband multi-channel transmission. However, since the proposed architecture uses low frequency signal, it is expected to deliver low throughput as well. Using an ubiquitous signal such as sound makes the entire process very cost effective as it eliminates the need of expensive transceivers.

Visualization of large-scale data is the first step to acquire preliminary insight into complex biological data. In recent years, many statistical visualization methods have been designed to support data visualization. Stochastic Neighbor Embedding (SNE) is one of these efficient approaches, which uses the probabilistic distance to model differences among data points within the data space. SNE and its variants (e.g. t-SNE) have demonstrated superiority over other methods in exploring complex data. By using these methods, however, similar data points tend to group together, which prevents the identification of subtle differences. A good visualization method should not only present clear data structure, but distinguish subtle differences. In this paper, we propose a novel extension of SNE. The approach has three innovations: (1) we replaced the Gaussian distribution in SNE with a Laplacian distribution on both high dimensional space and low dimensional space. The Laplace distribution has wider tails than the Gaussian distribution, and thus it can be used to overcome the over-crowding problem noted in SNE and its variants. (2) We used a symmetric modification of Kullback-Leibler divergence measure as the objective function which provides more flexibility to the model. (3) We add a graph Laplacian regularization terms to the objective function which have an advantage to preserve the manifold structure among data points. Experiments on simulation data and human microbiome data indicate that it has better visualization performance than other methods in distinguishing crowding data points.

The Coco-Cloud (Confidential and Compliant Cloud) project is under the scope of the 7th Framework Programme of the European Commission and its main objective is to allow users to share data in the Cloud, guaranteeing its privacy and security in the case of sensitive information, ensuring that the current legislation in the involved countries is enforced. In this context, information regarding patients' health is one of the most important examples of sensitive data. During the diagnostic imaging routine and the subsequent processing, several documents with sensitive information related to the patient are generated. These data are only available either within our healthcare centers' intranet or in some storage device that the patient keeps. The Coco Cloud e-health pilot is driven by our private hospital network in which a Cloud-based radiological patient portal will be developed. Its aim is to allow patient access to their radiological information in a delocalized manner, providing medical images and personalized reports. This system will eliminate patient's need to return to his reference hospital to physically collect the results of imaging acquisitions and/or post-processing, facilitating access to relevant content for any medical specialist authorized by the patient, as well as share images and reports with other users and physicians of different specialties involved in the patient's healthcare. This goal is achieved through a cloud-based system which introduces important advantages such as the flexibility to allocate or remove resources, the data security and the document control mechanism, or the capability to work from anywhere, are just a few reasons which allow cloud-based systems increase the efficiency and decrease the costs of the daily work.

The medial axis(or a topological skeleton) is a thinner version of a geometric object. The medial axis was firstintroduced by Blum as a description of shape. Its classical definitions include grass-fire model and maximal disk model. The grass-fire model means that an object's boundary is taken as an initial fire front that propagates within the object's interior region. Points where the fire front folds or interacts with itself are retained as the skeleton *** maximal disk model means that the medial axis of a planar domain is the locus of the center of a maximal disc, which touches the boundary in at least twopoints. The medial axis has been used within various scientific and engineering areas,including geographical information systems, face recognition,path-finding, image processing, computer vision, collision detection mesh-generation, and machining applications, etc. Usually,because of the noise on the boundary contours of a shape, the traditional algorithms of constructing medial axis produce the redundant branches of medial axis. This paper analyses the reason for the redundant branches of medial axis using the circumcenter method based on constraint Delaunay triangulation, and then presents a new method toprune the redundant branches of the medial axis. Several experiments demonstrate that the proposed method can remove the redundant medial axis branches effectively and efficiently. Obviously this method is an optimization for the circumcenter method based on constraint Delaunay *** the one hand, it makes medial axis more accurate;on the other hand, it can eliminate the byproduct –medial axis branches.

Most traditional Wikipedia based methods use only article contentinformation. By organizing Wikipedia articles as a graph, multi-information such as category and structure information can be utilized in our method. In this paper, we propose a novel method todoclassification by using knowledge from a conceptual graph which is built from Wikipedia. First, we build a conceptual graph from Wikipedia. Each article is considered as a concept node. Titles, hyperlinks, texts and category information are used as edges tomeasure the relationship between those concepts. Each textis mapped toits respective set of nodes and Personalized PageR ank(random walk) is then used togenerate a set of mostimportant node which can represent the text best. Finally the twosets are scored with a measure of vector similarity. We evaluate our techniques on the standard text classification dataset(20newsgroup), the results show the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
