This study investigates automatic assessment of the left ventricular (LV) diastolic function using cine cardiac magnetic resonance (MR) imaging. Most of the existing LV assessment algorithms addressed the systolic function, which essentially pertains to the analysis of regional wall motion abnormalities or the estimation of the ejection fraction. However, several recent clinical studies suggested that evaluating the diastolic function is essential. The diastolic function plays an important role in assessing cardiovascular abnormalities, particularly in the case of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. The assessments of LV relaxation and stiffness abnormalities can be achieved with cardiac MR imaging. Unlike with transthoracic echocardiography, MR is not limited by an acoustic window, and allows exhaustive myocardial imaging with excellent spatial resolution. We propose an algorithm that evaluates the LV relaxation from short-axis cine MR images. The method is based on three main steps: (1) non-rigid registration, which yields a sequence of points over time, given a user-provided contour on the first frame; (2) computations of the LV filling rate and volume over the cardiac cycle; and (3) automatic detection of the maxima of the E and A waves. We report comprehensive experimental evaluations over MR data sets acquired from 53 subjects, including comparisons with independent reports for the same subjects from echocar-diography. The proposed algorithm yielded a Kappa measure of 0.66, a substantial agreement with the echocardiography results.

The Coco-Cloud (Confidential and Compliant Cloud) project is under the scope of the 7th Framework Programme of the European Commission and its main objective is to allow users to share data in the Cloud, guaranteeing its privacy and security in the case of sensitive information, ensuring that the current legislation in the involved countries is enforced. In this context, information regarding patients' health is one of the most important examples of sensitive data. During the diagnostic imaging routine and the subsequent processing, several documents with sensitive information related to the patient are generated. These data are only available either within our healthcare centers' intranet or in some storage device that the patient keeps. The Coco Cloud e-health pilot is driven by our private hospital network in which a Cloud-based radiological patient portal will be developed. Its aim is to allow patient access to their radiological information in a delocalized manner, providing medical images and personalized reports. This system will eliminate patient's need to return to his reference hospital to physically collect the results of imaging acquisitions and/or post-processing, facilitating access to relevant content for any medical specialist authorized by the patient, as well as share images and reports with other users and physicians of different specialties involved in the patient's healthcare. This goal is achieved through a cloud-based system which introduces important advantages such as the flexibility to allocate or remove resources, the data security and the document control mechanism, or the capability to work from anywhere, are just a few reasons which allow cloud-based systems increase the efficiency and decrease the costs of the daily work.

There has been extensive research on active safety systems in the ITS community in recent years that has significantly contributed to reducing traffic accidents. However, further reduction is needed, especially on residential roads, where the reduction rate of traffic accidents is still quite small. On residential roads, traffic accidents are caused primarily by pedestrians suddenly running in front of cars and by the inattention of drivers to such risks. Automatic emergency braking systems activated by pedestrian detection are not always reliable on residential roads due to physical limitations such as too short a braking distance. To overcome the limitations of current active safety management systems, we focus on risk anticipation and defensive driving, key ideas to ensure safety on residential roads. Since defensive driving requires careful deceleration in advance of barrier lines and the corners of streets, long-term driver behavior prediction is needed. In this work, we provide a new framework of modeling risk anticipation and defensive driving with inverse reinforcement learning (IRL). In contrast to conventional driver behavior models such as hidden Markov models and maximum-entropy Markov models, our framework using IRL ensures accurate long-term prediction of driver maneuvers since the IRL is based on the Markov decision process (MDP), a goal-oriented path planning framework. Because the predicted defensive driver behaviors obtained by an MDP are appropriate only when the reward functions are carefully designed, we use inverse reinforcement learning, where the normative behavior of expert drivers is leveraged to optimize the reward functions. In addition to the proposed formulation of defensive driving with IRL, we provide new feature descriptors for computing reward functions to represent risk factors on residential roads such as corners, barrier lines, and speed limitations. The color interpolation method of Bayer CFA used in most digital cameras plays an important role in imaging system. In Bayer pattern,the green components are the twice as much as red or blue and contain more image information,which can be used to compensate the interpolations of red and *** to the high correlation among the three color channels,color mutation is prevented by the fixed color *** on these principles,the proposed interpolation algorithm estimates green component firstly with adapted color plane interpolation algorithm,then computes the color difference image(R-G and B-G) to interpolate the full resolution difference image with the compensation of interpolated G and edge adaptive method. Edge blurring problem is addressed by using edge judgment to estimate *** distortion is reduced using color difference interpolation *** results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms existing typical interpolation methods in terms of image quality and peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR),and also computational complexity is low.

The forward kinematics(FK) problem for robotic manipulators has a mathematically analytical solution, while the inverse kinematics(IK) problem is computationally expensive,and the closed-form expression of the solution does not always exist. In recent years, many approaches have been proposed tosolve such a complicated IK problem, such as the traditional pseudoinverse based solution. However, there are many limitations when using the pseudo-inverse based solution. Therefore, how toeffectively avoid the Jacobian pseudo-inversion is very important and meaningful. Motivated by this, an important branch of dynamics methods, i.e., the gradient dynamics(GD) method, is thus applied todeveloping a novel inverse-free D1G1 solution at the joint-acceleration level for solving the IK problem of redundant robot manipulators. Furthermore, simulation results based on a three-link redundant robot manipulator substantiate the effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed inverse-free D1G1 solution.

Alternative form of text entry is a tremendous benefit for a subset of physically challenged people, spurning the development of many assistive technologies. However, speed of text entry with these methods is still a critical problem. Eye gaze technologies have potential for text entry, but still tend to relatively slow. Recently dwell-free eye-typing systems have been proposed, but can be vulnerable to some common text entry problems, such as selection of the wrong character. In this paper, we propose a recognition approach for inferring the words which the user intends to type. The method is robust to missing letters and even when a neighboring character on the keyboard is incorrectly selected. Simulation and experiments results suggest that our proposed approach has better accuracy and more resilience to text entry errors than currently proposed dwell-free systems.

To mitigate the significant main memory access latency in modern chip multiprocessors, multi-level on-chip caches are used to bridge the gap by retaining frequently used data closer to the processor cores. Such dependence on the last-level cache (LLC) has motivated numerous innovations in cache management schemes. However, most prior works focus their efforts on optimizing cache miss counts experienced by applications, irrespective of the interactions between the LLC and other components in the memory hierarchy such as the main memory. This results in sub-optimal performance improvements, since reducing miss rates does not directly translate to increased IPC performance. In this paper, we show that in addition to the recency information provided by the cache replacement policy, post eviction reuse distance (PERD) and main memory access latency cost are useful to make better-informed eviction decisions at the LLC. We propose ReMAP, Reuse and Memory Access Cost aware eviction policy, that takes reuse characteristics and memory access behavior into consideration when making eviction decisions. ReMAP achieves higher performance compared to prior works. Our full-system simulation results show that ReMAP reduces the number of misses of SPEC2006 applications by as much as 13% over the baseline LRU replacement and by an average of 6.5% while MLP-aware replacement and DRRIP reduce the miss counts by -0.7% and 5% respectively. More importantly, ReMAP achieves an average of 4.6% IPC performance gain across the SPEC2006 applications while MLP-aware replacement and DRRIP see only 1.8% and 2.3% respectively.

With ra pid development of internet, more and more consumers choose toshop from different channels, such as offline channel and online channel. Some consumers prefer shopping through offline channel because they want toexperience the products' quality in person, while other consumers would like toshop online because the y care more about the efficiency of shopping. There are several factors that can affect consumers' channel choice, such as channel factors, situational factors, consumers' own factors. This paper aims toanalyze consumers' channel choice for electronic products from consumers' own factors. We develop a structural equation model tostudy consumers' channel choice and investigate the relationships among the indexes via data from questionnaire s. We find that(i) both perceived time pressure and perceived channel convenience have positive effects on the attitude towards purchasing electronic products via the internet;(ii) the attitude towards purchasing electronic products via the internetis positively related tothe intention of online channel, and negatively related tothe intention of offline channel. However, price sensitivity and perceived risk have nosignificant causal relationships with attitude towards purchasing electronic products via the internet. Further, we divide the sample intotwosubgroups by gender, using the same method toconduct empirical research. We obtain some valuable resul ts and give some related policies. Then we alsodivide the sample intotwosubgroups by ca reer, and we get some useful conclusions.

Disease-causing genes prioritization is very important for understanding mechanisms of diseases and biomedical applications, such as drug design. Previous studies have shown that promising candidate genes are mostly ranked according to their relatedness to known disease genes or closely related disease processes. Therefore, a dangling gene (isolated gene) with no edges in the network can not be effectively prioritized. These approaches tend to prioritize those genes that are highly connected in the PPI network and perform poorly when they are applied to loosely connected disease genes. Motivated by this observation, we propose a new disease-causing genes prioritization method that based on network diffusion and rank concordance (NDRC). The method is evaluated by leave-one-out cross validation on 1931 diseases in which at least one gene is known to be involved, and it is able to rank the true causal gene first in 849 of all 2542 cases, and as the experimental results suggest that NDRC significantly outperforms other existing methods such as RWR, VAVIEN, DADA and PRINCE on identifying loosely connected disease genes and which successfully put dangling genes as potential candidate disease genes. Furthermore, we apply NDRC method to study two representative diseases, Meckel syndrome 1 and Peroxisome biogenesis disorder 1A (Zellweger). Our study has also found that the complex disease-causing genes are divided into several modules that are closely associated with different disease phenotype.

Mobile cloud computing, which comes up in recent years, is a new computing paradigm. In mobile cloud, mobile users can access and schedule the resources or services in remote clouds via wireless networks, which we call mobile cloud task scheduling. They even can build mobile micro-cloud(MuC loud) with mobile device toprovide lightweight service. However, unreliable wireless connection and dynamic join and quit of MuC loud make task scheduling in mobile cloud face more challenges than in wired cloud. Moreover, from both the users and service providers' perspective, task scheduling is a multiobjective optimization problem. Small makespan and load balancing are pursued by mobile users and cloud service providers respectively. In this paper, we advance a demanddriven task scheduling model and introduce an estimate method topredict warranty complete time of tasks in wireless network. An improved genetic algorithm using 2D chromosome(2DCGA) is presented totackle multi-objective task scheduling. Simulation experiments show:1) compared with Markov model, our estimate method has higher accuracy of prediction and more reasonable prediction results of probability of task scheduling failure;2) 2DCGA has good performance for task scheduling. When compared with IGA, it has smaller makespan and lower deviation of load;3) objective priority can be adjusted exactly by weights of fitness functions. It makes 2DCGA suitable for multiobjective optimization.
