This paper introduces the concept of the Logistics Service Map, a modular service construction system with an inherent catalog function. Specialized service providers, so called logistics integrators are to use this concept to integrate subsidiary service providers into logistics networks. The main purpose of the Service Map is to enable and to foster the development of atomic as well as composite logistics services used by the integrator to fulfill customers' requirements. As more and more domains are incorporating cognitive computing tools to develop models to process and understand data in a cohesive, yet effective manner, the medical domain is also seeking advancements aided by artificial intelligence. While the amount of research available to any individual increases regularly, the ability to keep up with new information becomes a challenge due to the sheer quantity of information. The use of artificial intelligence to help process large amounts of information can overcome those barriers. However, progress in this field is hindered by several challenges including: incomplete medical data sets, the confidential nature of data as it holds private information of individuals, the complexity and nuances of natural language (within medicine), and even the unwillingness of health-care providers to adopt newer techniques. As a NP-hard problem, it is always baffling to figure out a scheduling strategy to arrange the interconnected tasks of a workflow on the infinite number of resources in the cloud environment so that the workflow can be addressed efficiently and robustly. This paper focuses on scheduling the workflow's tasks on the cloud resources with less rental cost of resources while the whole schedule length (makespan) will not exceed the given deadline. As one of the most popular evolutionary algorithms, particle swarm optimization (PSO) has been successfully applied for the workflow scheduling problem. Inspired by the idea of multiple groups and the distributed parallel computing, we develop an enhanced PSO algorithm for the workflow scheduling problem in clouds. Besides, a pretreatment strategy is adopted to simplify the workflow's structure. The experimental results demonstrate that our proposal has good performance on improving the algorithm's searching ability and finding better solutions.

The computer-based education is the most popular teaching method in universities. Maintaining an all-purpose experiment environment based on physical computers is hard because different courses need different environments. Meanwhile, hardware-related experiment is suffering from the restriction of equipment location. This paper presents a work in progress on the development of a cloud-based experiment platform. We customize an IaaS cloud for the experiment context and propose solutions for software-based experiment and hardware-related simulation respectively. For a prototype system, the virtualization efficiency and user experience are discussed. In contrast with the traditional experiment environment, the cloud-based approach is more extensible for software-based experiments and it can extend the applicable scope of laboratory equipments.

We propose a new knowledge sharing scheme to effectively support networked cooperative works in this paper. Our scheme controls information flow from Real Space (RS) to Digital Space (DS) and reverse direction, based on the concept of "Symbiotic computing". In practice, our scheme controls the availability of shared workspace in DS for cooperative works, according to the situation of tasks and users in RS, in order to accelerate the progress of the works. Using this scheme, advanced support to improve quality of intellectual cooperative works can be realized. In this paper, we apply our proposed scheme to a group learning domain. This is an educational activity domain where group members, including a teacher and several students cooperatively solve given problems. From experimental results, we found that the cooperative problem solving by the teacher and students were accelerated. We also confirmed that the learning outcomes were improved. Finally, we verified that our system can enhance the group learning effects by controlling the availability of the shared workspace based on the progress of the group learning process.
