Genomic research involves a considerable amount of intensive computational and data management challenges including varying demand for computing resources, large data staging, management of complex workflows, and managing data and metadata across thousands of experiments and datasets. To address these challenges, researchers are typically forced to acquire and maintain experienced IT staff and informatics infrastructure. Increasingly researchers have explored cloud technologies, yet these lack key capabilities for data and workflow management. We introduce work to address these issues through use of federated cloud infrastructure coupled with data and workflow management technology. We present preliminary work toward the integration of three major technologies: ExoGENI, integrated Rule Oriented Data System (iRODS), and Pegasus/HTCondor, to develop a software infrastructure that better supports data- and workflow-centric genomic analysis.

Engineering informatics is an emerging engineering discipline combining information technology with a variety of engineering disciplines. It is a new interdisciplinary subject focusing on the application of computing technologies in a variety of engineering disciplines. Before the need for engineering informatics was formally presented in 2007 and the term "engineering informatics" was coined in 2007 and 2008, a scientific and engineering discipline called Industrial Information Integration Engineering (IIIE) was formally proposed and recognized by international organizations IFIP and ieee in 2005. The concept of IIIE emphasizes multiple aspects, including one of the major aspects that is completely overlapping with the scope of engineering informatics: engineering information integration. The advances in industrial information integration methods have spurred tremendous growth of a variety of techniques that have been used for probing industrial information integration including engineering information integration. These techniques include business process management, workflow management, EAI, SOA, and others. Such techniques are originated from different disciplines and have the potential for significantly improving the performance of engineering informatics. Many applications require a combination of the techniques. In particular, formal methods and systems methods are crucial for modeling complex engineering systems. This paper is focusing on one of the major aspects of IIIE that is completely overlapping with the scope of engineering informatics: engineering information integration.

Cloud computing is a hotly debated and researched topic amongst all group of users ranging from industry to academia. It has highly raised the expectations of small, medium and large enterprises beyond measure. Many organizations have migrated to cloud. The progressive use of cloud resources in the entire IT sector urged the need for better management of cloud infrastructure. Cloud infrastructure needs most efficient management techniques to cater to increasingly growing demands of users. Cloud computing has evolved tremendously and is still constantly undergoing changes. This paper gives the overview of cloud orchestration software along with their features.

In this work we describe pyEHR, a new toolkit for building scalable clinical/phenotypic data management systems for biomedical research applications. The toolkit uses openEHR formalisms to guarantee the decoupling of clinical data descriptions from implementation details, and NoSQL technologies, or next-generation SQL ones, to provide scalable storage back-ends.

Enterprises are looking forward to adopt cutting edge innovative technologies that could cut costs and maximize value. Cloud is getting into every Business, Industry and Enterprise applications ensuring economic and agility benefits. While Cloud seems to be disruptive, it's still a long way to go to completely materialize the Cloud. Cloud computing envisions that services, platforms and computing resources can be provided, on-demand, in a self-service fashion by a set of cooperating and/or competing providers to clients over the Internet. The emergence of cloud computing stems from the availability of numerous massive data centers, improvements in virtualization technologies and the availability and abundance of high speed networks. A large-scale computing infrastructure consumes enormous amounts of electrical power leading to operational costs not only exceed the cost of the infrastructure, also reflects on its carbon footprint. Green Cloud computing solution is needed that saves energy for the environment. This paper surveys techniques and solutions that aim to improve the energy efficiency of computing resources. It discusses methods to evaluate and model the energy consumed by these resources, and describes techniques that operate at a distributed system level, trying to improve aspects such as resource allocation. © 2014 ieee.

Collaborative autonomous vehicles will appear in the near future and will transform deeply road transportation systems, addressing in part many issues such as safety, traffic efficiency, etc. Validation and testing of complex scenarios involving sets of autonomous collaborative vehicles are becoming an important challenge. Each vehicle in the set is autonomous and acts asynchronously, receiving and processing huge amount of data in real time, coming from the environment and other vehicles. Simulation of such scenarios in real time require huge computing resources. This paper presents a simulation platform combining the real-time OPAL-RT Technologies for processing and parallel computing, and the Pro-SiVIC vehicular simulator from Civitec for realistic simulation of vehicles dynamic, road/environment, and sensors behaviors. The two platforms are complementary and their combining allow us to propose a real time simulator of collaborative autonomous systems.

Cloud computing is an emerging technology which has become today's blistering research area due to the advancement of increased connectivity and it is most interesting and attractable technology which offers the on demand services to the users over the internet. Since Cloud computing stores the user data and allows the user to work on the cloud system and so the security has become the main concern which creates threat and tries to deploy the Cloud environments. Even though the Cloud computing is efficient, there are many challenges for data security, which may take away the users from using the cloud computing. To ensure the security of data, we proposed a method by implementing Cramer - Shoup cryptosystem.

For building a recommendation system the eCommerce portal gathers the user's ratings on various items in order to determine his/her choice regarding its merchandise. The portal also collects metadata for the user when he/she signs up and becomes a part of the system;therefore the portal has access to information such as user's age, gender, occupation, location, etc. Till date almost all prior studies used the metadata for alleviating the cold-start problem;this information was not used for improving the recommendations. For the first time in this work, we propose a simple neighborhood selection technique by giving importance to the metadata groups for improving the recommendations.
