The ever increasing growth of technology has drastically increased the amount of 'information' that is getting generated and therefore caused an increase in necessary facilities and infrastructure to manage it. This has inevitably increased the energy consumption and demands along with the emission of greenhouse gases (GHGs) thereby posing a grave threat to the environment. Information computing technologies (ICTs) must adopt green computing - principals and strategies which aim at reducing the adverse impact on environment and minimizing the carbon footprint to increase environmental sustainability. Green computing is dealt with multimillion dollar organizations in relation to areas like data center optimization, renewable emery sources, optimization of process and many more. However this topic is overlooked when it comes to medium or small scale organizations or startup companies. And why just the ICT, green computing principles can be extended to others businesses as well. This paper defines the problems in different areas and presents with recent approaches towards overcoming the same. Also it presents a model that can be adopted to implement comprehensive green strategy within small businesses.

Conventional cloud computing architectures may seriously constrain computational throughput for high performance computing (HPC) and high-performance data (HPD) applications. The traditional approach to circumvent such problems has been to map these applications and problems onto other specialized hardware and coprocessor architectures. This is both time and resource expensive, and poses a challenge for rapidly rising demands for computation and data analytics. In this paper we report on progress to develop an alternative experimental software defined cloud implementation that virtualizes the topology of a standard HPC computational architecture. This software defined system re-arranges access to the nodes and dynamically customizes the features of the HPC hardware architecture so that they map to the specifics of the computation and data analysis application. This allows a cloud computing implementation to utilize the specialized infrastructure capabilities of an HPC system. We have created this type of user reconfigurable architecture on an IBM Blue Gene/P supercomputing environment at the Department of Energy's Argonne Leadership computing Facility (ALCF). This pilot configuration was implemented using both an open source cloud technology called VCL (Virtual computing Laboratory) in combination with a provisioning module called Kittyhawk. Cloud security is addressed by configuring and running a rootless version of the VCL cloud system on the ALCF's Blue Gene/P login node.

The Higher Education (HE) is recognized as one of the pillars of community development. In the spirit of Tri Dharma, HE is required to give maximum contribution to people's life. Nevertheless, sometimes these operations have impacts on big-funding requirements, so it is common for private HE with minimal funding tofind difficulties in the operation processes. The presence of cloud computing (CC) technology is a solution to support HE operations. The challenges faced by a HE nowadaysto adopt new technology such as CC will be related to the ITreadiness. Thus an eReadiness framework should be used to perform the measurement of IT readiness level, so the adoption process can run well. This paper discusses what enablers dimensions influence CC eReadiness in HE, and the HE eReadiness positions in West of Java. By using the enterprise enabler of IT governance COBIT 5, eReadiness framework will be designed with the goal to measure the readiness level based on maturity assessment model. © 2014 ieee.

This work shows a detailed description of the kNN method when using it for breast cancer diagnosis. We show the relation of the number of neighbors to the accuracy and also the change of accuracy with the change of the percentage of the data used for diagnosis. We also show details about the variation of the maximum and minimum values of the accuracy with the percentage of data used for diagnosis and with the number of neighbors.

Nth -Dimensional Truncated Polynomial Ring (NTRU) is a lattice-based public-key cryptosystem that offers encryption and digital signature solutions. It was designed by Silverman, Hoffstein and Pipher. The NTRU cryptosystem was patented by NTRU Cryptosystems Inc. (which was later acquired by Security Innovations) and available as ieee 1363.1 and X9.98 standards. NTRU is resistant to attacks based on Quantum computing, to which the standard RSA and ECC public-key cryptosystems are vulnerable to. In addition, NTRU has higher performance advantages over these cryptosystems. Considering this importance of NTRU, it is highly recommended to adopt NTRU as part of a cipher suite along with widely used cryptosystems for internet security protocols and applications. In this paper, we present our analytical study on the implementation of NTRU encryption scheme which serves as a guideline for security practitioners who are novice to lattice-based cryptography or even cryptography. In particular, we show some non-trivial issues that should be considered towards a secure and efficient NTRU implementation. © 2014 ieee.

This paper shows the potentials of Network Coding (NC) for improvement of Round Trip Time (RTT) in practical wireless Narrowband RF communications (for remote monitoring of broadcasting Television and radio FM station). We illustrate how RTT changes versus number of hops using narrow band radios modem & Routers ((RipEX unit), as a means of transmission between source and destination. As well as, we will illustrate the effect of Forward Error Correction (FEC) on the RTT. The measurements and simulations results show that the applying of NC significantly improves RTT. © 2014 ieee.

Optimizing sophisticated PDE-based filtering methods, such as the Anisotropic Nonlinear Diffusion (AND), to GPUs is complicated and time consuming. In this work, we expressed AND as iterative multiple 3D-stencils, where each 3D-stencil is implemented into one kernel, and then we analyzed all possible kernel fusions on the GPU. We experimentally found that fusing dependent stencils with similar concurrency and lower on-chip pressure makes the optimal combination run 1, 52× faster than the next better one. © 2014 ieee.

In this paper, we propose multi-objective differential evolution (DE) based feature selection and ensemble learning techniques for biomedical entity extraction. The algorithm operates in two layers, first step of which concerns with the problem of automatic feature selection for a machine learning algorithm, namely Conditional Random Field (CRF). The solutions of the final best population provides different feature combinations. The classifiers generated with these feature representations are combined together using a multi-objective differential based ensemble technique. We evaluate the proposed algorithm for named entity (NE) extraction in biomedical text. Experiments on the benchmark setup yield recall, precision and F-measure values of 73.50%, 77.02% and 75.22%, respectively.

Companies today interact in an increasingly competitive environment and seek to leverage the potentials of IT for generating new business models and for changing existing ones. For these business models, companies have to align the respective business and IT architectures. This task can be supported by using enterprise architecture management. In this paper, we first analyze the potentials for integrating enterprise architecture (management) and business model (management). Second, the components of different approaches for describing business models are compared to each other. Third, we present a concept for integrating business models into enterprise architectures. Fourth, we outline an integration of business model management and enterprise architecture management processes. © 2014 ieee.
