In the field of software engineering, a very old and important issue is how to understand the software. Understanding software means more than understanding the source code;it also refers to the other facts related to that particular software. Sometimes even experienced developers can be overwhelmed by a project's extensive development capabilities. In the development process, project leaders (PLs) have overall knowledge about the project and are keenly aware of its vision. Other members have only partial knowledge of the functions assigned to them. In this research, we propose a model to design ontology to support software comprehension and handle issues of knowledge management throughout the development process. By applying our methodology, understanding software and managing knowledge can become possible in a systematic way for open source and commercial projects. Furthermore, it will help beginners become more involved in a project and contribute to it in a productive way. © 2014 ieee.

In the field of pattern recognition, the study of the gene expression profiles for different tissue samples over different experimental conditions has became feasible with the arrival of micro-array based technology. In cancer research, classification of tissue samples is necessary for cancer diagnosis, which can be done with the help of micro-array technology. In this article we have presented a multi-objective optimization (MOO) based clustering technique utilizing AMOSA (Archived Multi-Objective Simulated Annealing) as the underlying optimization strategy for classification of tissue samples from cancer data sets. As objective functions three cluster validity indices namely, XB, PBM, and FCM indices are optimized simultaneously to form more accurate clusters of tissue samples. The presented clustering technique is evaluated for two open source benchmark cancer data sets, which are Brain tumor data set and Adult Malignancy data set. In order to evaluate the quality or goodness of produced clusters two cluster quality measures viz, Adjusted Rand Index (ARI) and Classification Accuracy (% CoA) are calculated for each data set. Comparative results of the presented clustering algorithm with 10 state-of-the-art existing single-objective, multi-objective based clustering algorithms are shown for two benchmark data sets.

Cloud computing provides simplicity to its consumers by saving them the efforts to deal with their own infrastructure, environments or software. This simplicity relies on the shifting of problems from the client to the provider, introducing new paradigms (virtualization, scalability, flexibility, pay-per-use, etc.). This simplicity comes with a price for the consumer that may accurately, or not, reflect the costs of the provider. In this paper we propose to identify the different points, in the Cloud computing architecture, where the costs are generated, how their reduction/optimization are considered, and finally we point-out which of these key points need to be further investigated, according to their foreseeable efficiency. © 2014 ieee.

A concept of smart society emphasizes the importance of ICT infrastructures investments to improve the quality of life and competitiveness of the society member. In order to implement this concept, it is necessary to assess the progress of the cities in effort towards Smart City. A research is held to 28 SMEs in Bandung to gather information about this topic. The main question of this research is to identify determinant factors which influence the social media adoption and to analyze adopters category based on their innovativeness. This research is based on a theory about diffusion of innovation and TOE Framework. The research result shows that most of the SMEs in Bandung are categorized as Early Majority. This research also depicts the social media usage by SMEs in Bandung and identifies some factors which influence is divided into 3 scales;high, medium, and low. © 2014 ieee.

Interactions among the scientific community implicitly and explicitly reflects technological and scientific progress in any industry. Direct interactions can be found in the scientific publications and are evident from various affiliations in such publications. In this work, important finding about Information technology for engineering is revealed using the analyses of affiliations networks. The largest contributors (actors like authors, journals etc.) to industry in volume and the most sought research field related to the industry is identified using affiliations network. Evidences for interdisciplinary interactions in the industry during last 15 years are also exposed. Some of the existing challenges (ANRP and PWP) in network analysis for huge affiliations networks (especially in citations analysis) are also identified. © 2014 ieee.

In this paper we work on noise analysis on blocks of images. We introduced a technique through which we are observing the effect of noise on various blocks of an image. Finally we are resultant the maximum and minimum effect of noise. For the proposed work we are considering only Gaussian noise. PSNR and SNR values are calculated for images with and without blocks. Proposed work has been implemented on many images of same format. This paper is highly beneficial for reducing the noise to only those blocks which are highly affected instead of applying the process of noise removal on whole image. This can reduce the processing time highly on the cost of small considerable noise. Also, the another advantage of this approach is that in the real time system, the blocks of image having high value of noise can be determined and can be processed further leaving the blocks with the low values of noise. This can effectively reduce the processing time without applying an extra effort.

Body-in-the-Cloud (BitC) is a cloud-integrated architecture for body sensor networks (BSNs). This paper studies an evolutionary game theoretic algorithm to configure BSNs in an adaptive and stable manner. BitC allows BSNs to adapt their configurations (sensing intervals and sampling as well as data transmission intervals) to operational conditions (e.g., data request patterns) with respect to multiple performance objectives such as resource consumption and data yield. BitC theoretically guarantees that each BSN performs an evolutionarily stable configuration strategy, which is an equilibrium solution under given operational conditions. Simulation results verify this theoretical analysis;BSNs seek equilibria to perform adaptive and evolutionarily stable configuration strategies. © 2014 ieee.

We present the results of the third phase in a three part study developing an application to reduce obesity levels in adolescents with a mobile fitness application that encourages youth to engage in fitness activity by providing social networking tools to facilitate motivation. In the first phase, we studied effecting positive attitudinal changes towards fitness. The second phase studied physical improvements with the application in our target group. This third phase tests the efficacy of the socialization tools in our application for motivating both positive attitudinal changes and physical improvements towards fitness. The application contained thirteen distinct exercises that subjects could engage in using sensors on the mobile devices to unbiasedly measure progress. The socialization tools to encourage fitness engagement allowed for such activities as friending, sharing progress and collaboratively exercising with friends either in person or remotely. The study participants were adolescents age 14 to 15 with 20 subjects in an experimental group that used the fitness application and 15 control subjects that did not. The study ran for eight weeks with the results indicating both positive attitude changes towards fitness exercises and body-mass index (BMI) improvements in fitness levels correlated to socialization interests/activities for the subjects using the application, while the control group showed no such correlation of fitness level improvement.

This paper provides an approach to evaluating Quality of Context (QoC) parameters in a ubiquitous Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) environment. Lack of quality can lead assisted systems to respond inappropriately, resulting in errors related to assistance or support, or putting the user at risk. QoC assessments can improve these systems and set them to perform specific actions whenever lapses in quality occur. Initially, the study presents a literature review of QoC, then it introduces the context management architecture used. The proposal is verified with the Siafu simulator in an AAL scenario where the user's health is monitored with information about blood pressure, heart rate and body temperature. Considering some parameters, the proposed QoC assessment allows verifying the extent to which the context information is up-to-date, valid, accurate, complete and significant. The implementation of this proposal might mean a big social impact and a technological innovation applied to AAL, at the disposal and support of a significant number of individuals such as elderly or sick people, and with a more precise technology. © 2014 ieee.
