The focus of this work is to take an approaching step, or rather, try to create a stronger connection than those existing between jurisprudence and mathematics. In line with the priorities outlined in the 20th Party Congress report, which emphasizes enhancing financial supervision and mitigating systemic risks, this paper introduces a Bayesian-optimized LightGBM model for improving the accuracy of financial fraud detection in listed companies. The proposed model integrates a hybrid set of indicators, including executive attributes, ESG performance, and innovation capabilities. Using publicly available firm data from 2014 to 2023, the model performs risk identification with a balanced dataset achieved through the KMeans-SMOTE technique to address data skewness. Bayesian optimization is employed to fine-tune the model’s hyperparameters, significantly enhancing its predictive accuracy. Experimental results demonstrate a prediction accuracy exceeding 95%, underscoring the model’s potential in detecting financial fraud, mitigating risks, and contributing to the stability and sustainable growth of financial markets. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

In the midst of the swift advance of informatization, digital twin technology has garnered escalating attention. Synthesizing the current research landscape and cutting-edge developments in digital twin technology is crucial for propelling its scholarly exploration. This study employs a methodological fusion of scientometrics and knowledge graph analysis to comprehensively encapsulate the research accomplishments of digital twin technology across extant scientific domains. It visually dissects 4, 954 articles pertaining to digital twins within the Web of science core dataset, spanning the decade from 2014 to 2024. Leveraging keyword cluster analysis, the research identifies the focal areas that have captivated researchers in recent years, along with the prevailing research trends. Building upon this foundation, the paper delineates the pivotal technologies underpinning digital twins. Ultimately, the study offers strategic recommendations for the evolutionary trajectory of digital twin technology, aspiring to furnish a scientific touchstone for global digital twin research endeavors. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s). While the European Commission encourages the use of tap water in our diets as an environmental and economic priority in the logic of plastic-free strategy, the tap water does not always meet several quality requirements compromising the confidence of the consumers. The contamination of drinking water is linked to organic, inorganic and biological pollutants from various sources, which can have serious effects on human health. The unbalanced level of solutes (i.e., chlorine), the presence of persistent organic and inorganic pollutants, the residual amount of disinfection by-products drastically impact on the organoleptic properties of tap water. These aspects have stimulated the development of Point of Entry (POE), installed at the entrance to individual buildings, or Point of Use (POU), installed in the home, filtration systems to improve the tap water quality. The commercially available systems are often based on activated carbon and Reverse Osmosis. The serious drawback of these systems is the lack in terms of ion selectivity leading to a drastic abatement of the concentration of solutes without considering their key role for the mineral balance in our diets and the organoleptic properties of drinking water. In this paper the main aspects and parameters to be optimized in the design of tap water treatment solutions with well-established and innovative approaches are analyzed. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

The paper carries out research into the financial performance of construction companies in four European countries over the 2014-2023 period, i.e. over a 10-year horizon. Specifically, it represents a group of 4 Central European countries creating the Visegrad Four (V4)-the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and the Slovak Republic. Selected methods of financial analysis were used to measure performance, i.e. elementary methods such as horizontal analysis and other ratio indicators-debt to assets ratio, return on total assets ratio and value added productivity ratio. Moreover, the ORBIS Europe database, which contains information on more than 110 million companies in Europe, was used as a source of information. In total, the research worked with 9,972 V4 construction companies and analysed more than 40,000 values to calculate the various financial analysis indicators. 1,845 samples represented the Czech Republic, 859 samples represented the Slovak Republic, 5,861 samples represented Poland and 1,407 samples represented Hungary. The aim of the research described in the article is to determine the financial performance of construction companies on the basis of selected financial analysis indicators and to assess the development of the financial performance of these companies in the Czech Republic for the 2014-2023 period in comparison with the financial performance of other V4 countries by means of description and analysis. The research showed that the V4 states show a very similar development trend in all indicators. © 2025 The Authors.

Green roofs present several advantages at multiple scales. However, the applications are still not spread enough, which could be mainly due to the uncertainty about some factors such as water consumption in the dry season, the usage of the roof for other purposes like solar panels, and construction issues such as initial and maintenance costs. Thus, this study aims to develop an optimization method for an independent green roof system disconnected from the urban water network. It means the optimized size of a green roof, in which the precipitation, runoff, atmospheric water harvesting (AWH), and greywater could be enough for the green roof's water requirements without further irrigation. In this regard, a mathematical model is developed that can be verified based on experimental data of a green roof and determine the optimized area according to determined scenarios. The developed model is used in a Mediterranean climate, considering different scenarios. The results showed that for a house with a roof area of 100m2 and three inhabitants, an independent green roof, unconventional-based water resources, is possible in 75% of the roof area. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Despite growing efforts to prioritize user experience in product development, software organizations often perform little or no usability engineering activities. Therefore, it is crucial to develop strategies to integrate them effectively into software development processes. The rapid advances in Artificial Intelligence have significantly influenced various aspects of daily life, particularly with the emergence of Large Language Models (LLMs), which can serve as promising tools to support activities to enhance the usability of software products. This paper presents a study investigating the potential of LLMs to assist practitioners in conducting usability tests. Specifically, we conducted an experiment where LLMs generate usability test tasks. Our goal is to assess whether AI can effectively support evaluators by comparing tasks generated by LLMs to those defined by usability experts. The findings indicate that while LLMs can provide valuable support, effective usability testing still requires human oversight and expert intervention. © 2025 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

In this research, a low-profile metamaterial-inspired dual-band antenna is proposed for 5G communication which covers n78 band of Laptop and Mobile Terminal applications and 5G IOT Wireless Avionics Intra Communication (WAIC) applications. The designed antenna consists of rectangular Split Ring Resonator (SRR) as radiating element and partial rectangular ground plane with defected ground structure (DGS) is achieved by Complementary Split Ring Resonator (CSRR). It has been designed on Rogers RO4350 substrate which has a thickness of 0.8 mm, with the relative dielectric constant value Ɛr = 3.66 and with the loss tangent value tan δ = 0.004. The results indicate that metamaterial structure improves the gain, bandwidth and radiation efficiency of the antenna. The simulated 10 dB impedance bandwidth covers 5G-n78 band with the center frequency of 3.5 GHz and WAIC band with the center frequency of 4.3 GHz. The proposed antenna operates with high radiation efficiency, better gain and covered required bandwidth with linear polarisation. A reduced dimension of 0.25λ0 × 0.35λ0 × 0.009λ0 is achieved. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Different studies show the advantages of atmospheric water harvesting (AWH) in different climates for irrigation purposes, especially in dry periods. Moreover, we used the advantages of multi-objective optimization to reformulation of support vector machines (SVMs) classification. Therefore, the main purpose of this study is to develop a multi-objective support vector machine classification algorithm for the estimation of the potential AWH using major geographic and topographic indicators. In this regard, in this study, the dataset of AWH in different climates and regions has been used for training the classification learning algorithm. The test of the model has been done by using data from 10 case studies and three features, including climate type, elevation, and distance to the coastline. The results of the developed model could estimate the potential and suitability of AWH, and the verification of the results confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed method. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

We investigate the effectiveness of Machine Learning (ML) as a complementary tool in enhancing the accuracy of precipitation forecasting in the Calabria region (southern Italy), a Mediterranean area frequently affected by extreme rainfall events, with significant material damage and potential loss of human lives. The operational weather forecasting system developed at the University of Calabria, based on the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model, is considered to this end. We test two ML models, namely an artificial neural network and a random forest, to improve the accuracy of WRF forecasting. We provide several WRF output variables to the ML models. After a proper calibration (learning and test phases) over a two-year-long extended dataset, we assess the results to the original WRF outcomes (validation phase). Preliminary experiments resulted in a significant improvement by the WRF-ML coupled systems. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.
