In order to solve the practical problems of improving the support for operational safety and maintenance management in the construction and monitoring application of highway bridge data platforms, and to meet the functional requirements of industry macro decision-making assistance, real-time operation monitoring, and emergency event supervision, this article proposes the construction method of the national highway bridge data platform, and proposes the overall framework, business framework, functional framework, and technical framework of the platform. On this basis, the application of highway bridge technical condition monitoring was studied, and the highway bridge technical condition forecasting technology based on long and short memory neural network and highway bridge safety assessment technology based on deep confidence network were proposed. Combining with the engineering application of the National Highway and Bridge Data Platform, the proposed technology for monitoring the technical condition of highway bridges has been validated with high accuracy and reliability, and has high application value. It provides a strong starting point for the supervision of highway bridge maintenance industry, and significantly improves the safety level of highway bridge maintenance and operation. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

An effective Human Computer Interaction (HCI) for recognizing human emotions automatically is known to as affective computing. Affective computing is achieved through programming, which is meant to detect emotions from facial expressions or verbal utterances. These detected emotions can be further used in many applications. Speech emotion recognition (SER) is one such affective computing application where the detected emotions can be used effectively, particularly in online education. Such an application would allow for the teaching strategies to be tailored for the students, on the basis of their understanding of the ongoing class, which is reflected in their verbal feedback. This valuable application of technology will enhance and support education for all, especially the educators who have issues with hearing verbal feedback from students. The main objective of this study is to find out from educators (with and without hearing impairment) on the necessity of knowing student emotions to enhance teaching outcomes for effective teaching and also the benefits of having an automatic detection system which would display student emotions in an online classroom setting. The outcome of this research clearly indicated how a preliminary user requirement study highlights the need and benefits of implementing a SER system. © 2024 IEEE.

This study aims to advance image repair technology. By introducing an algorithm based on improved GAN, we design a novel generator network structure and an improved discriminator network to improve the clarity of generated results, the accuracy of edge structures, and reduce the time consumption of the repair process. The experimental results show that our algorithm significantly improves performance in a variety of image restoration tasks. Although the model performs well in handling classic paintings with different levels of damage and artistic styles, there are still challenges in handling special textures and severe damage. The improvements we suggest include experimenting with more advanced optimization algorithms and adding diverse training data. This study provides a valuable reference for researchers in the field of computer vision and image processing. We look forward to continuing to optimize algorithms and expand application scenarios in the future to make greater contributions to the development of image restoration technology. © 2024 IEEE.

This study systematically reviews the feasibility of dialogue learning based on generative AI. Research on mixed reality and generative AI in enhancing teaching effectiveness is increasingly in-depth both domestically and internationally. The development and application of mixed reality and generative AI are accelerating, evolving classroom structures and methods. In the context of rapid social, economic, and technological development, students require more personalized and innovative education, which dialogue learning interventions based on generative AI can effectively address. Through a systematic literature review method, 128 relevant studies from the past decade were systematically analyzed to explore the feasibility of dialogue learning in the context of generative AI. The study finds that the application of generative AI in dialogue learning not only enhances learning outcomes but also excels in personalized learning and timely feedback. However, the diversity and operability of technological implementation and application scenarios require further exploration. This research provides references and insights for future studies by related scholars. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

Learning disabilities are neurological conditions that impair an individual’s ability to process, comprehend, or utilize sensory information. Over the past decade, various assistive technologies (AT) have been developed to help children with Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) like dyslexia, which severely affects reading and writing skills. This paper discusses the development of an Android application tailored to support dyslexic children, aiming to bridge existing gaps. The application enhances their learning experience, improves educational opportunities, and boosts self-confidence using cutting-edge technology and a user-centric approach. Developed with Android Studio, this Java-based application promotes inclusivity in education, contributing to a more progressive and accessible educational system. ©2024 IEEE.

This paper presents sophisticated methods for picture dehazing, focusing on an optimized filtering approach called LIF paired with GGIF. The proposed Low-pass Infinite Impulse Response (LIF) technique provides a reliable method for enhancing the image by reducing noise while retaining significant features such as edges and intricate patterns. LIF, unlike traditional methods, employs adaptive techniques for enhancing both gray-scale and colour images. It achieves this by utilizing Gaussian-weighted proximity and intensity modifications, resulting in improved detail clarity and reduced noise. The incorporation of LIF (Local Intensity Filtering) with GGIF (Global Guided Image Filtering) resulted in significant enhancement in performance for the dehazing application, showcasing a noticeable increase in the perceptual fog density metric throughout the test images. The experimental results validate that the approach significantly enhances image quality by reducing fog density, with an average enhancement of 41.33%. © 2025 IEEE.

The importance of language translation becomes evident when two individuals, each speaking a different mother tongue and lacking a common language, seek to communicate effectively. This article presents the development and evaluation of a mobile application for voice-to-voice translation over the Internet. The application employs three main technologies: speech recognition, machine translation, and speech synthesis. Google APIs (speech-to-text API, text-to-text-translator API, and text-to-speech synthesizer API) were used to implement the system. The evaluation showed that the system achieved an overall accuracy of 85% in recognizing and translating speech input from users. However, the accuracy varied across different languages. The system was also found to be effective in facilitating communication between users who speak different languages. The limitations of the system were identified in its performance in noisy or crowded environments and the handling of regional accents and dialects. Overall, the developed system has the potential to bridge language barriers and facilitate communication among people speaking different languages. © 2024 IEEE.

With the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence and computer vision, sentiment analysis is becoming increasingly significant in domains like natural language processing, computer vision, and human-computer interaction. As a result, understanding how to effectively extract and fuse multimodal data to improve the accuracy of emotion identification and make use of more high-performance and robust algorithms is a critical and demanding topic. This article reviews the essential techniques for multimodal emotion recognition, explains the four major fusion strategies - - early, intermediate, late, and hybrid, and algorithm performance. Multimodal fusion strategy dramatically improves emotional recognition performance, particularly well when dealing with complex and diverse data sets. In addition, deep learning-based approaches not only demonstrate obvious advantages in terms of accuracy and adaptability, but also achieve more effective feature fusion. However, the development still faces many challenges, such as the diversity and complexity of feature extraction, data scarcity, and the selection of fusion methods. In the future, researchers can consider further optimizing the feature fusion method, explore the application prospects of multimodal emotional recognition in emerging fields like virtual reality and intelligent human-machine interaction, and promote the wide application and development of technology. © The Institution of engineering & technology 2024.

The abstract discusses the importance of using environmentally friendly energy and the increasing use of electric vehicles. It emphasizes the significance of a battery management system (BMS) in ensuring safe and dependable battery operation in electric cars. The thesis proposes designing and implementing a lithium-ion battery management system for automotive applications, which includes defining system requirements, designing the system's architecture, designing hardware, and implementing a sample test component of the system to evaluate its functionality. The BMS will calculate state of charge (SOC) and state of health (SOH) using various algorithms, which can be used to predict battery lifespan and maintenance schedules. A Bluetooth module will be installed to establish a connection between the battery and a mobile application that displays battery parameters, including SOC and SOH, and navigates the rider to the nearest charging station. Safety measures will be incorporated to protect the battery from potential issues. The rider can also use a navigation app to locate the closest charging station and feel less anxious when the battery drops below the charging limit. © 2024 IEEE.
