Real-world data processing problems often involve multiple data modalities, e.g., panchromatic and multispectral images, positron emission tomography (PET) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) images. As these modalities capture information associated with the same phenomenon, they must necessarily be correlated, although the precise relation is rarely known. In this paper, we propose a coupled dictionary learning (CDL) framework to automatically learn these relations. In particular, we propose a new data model to characterize both similarities and discrepancies between multimodal signals in terms of common and unique sparse representations with respect to a group of coupled dictionaries. However, learning these coupled dictionaries involves solving a highly non-convex structural dictionary learning problem. To address this problem, we design a coupled dictionary learning algorithm, referred to sequential recursive optimization (SRO) algorithm, to sequentially learn these dictionaries in a recursive manner. By capitalizing on our model and algorithm, we conceive a CDL based multimodal image super-resolution (SR) approach. Practical multispectral image SR experiments demonstrate that our SR approach outperforms the bicubic interpolation and the state-of-the-art dictionary learning based image SR approach, with Peak-SNR (PSNR) gains of up to 8.2 dB and 5.1 dB, respectively.

In this paper, the STM32 chip with high performance, low cost and low power consumption is selected as the control unit. A highly efficient and portable image acquisition system is designed. The system uses OV7670 camera as the sensor to collect image signal, and the collected image signal is converted into digital signals and is stored temporarily in FIFO chips. Then the digital code which is stored in the FIFO chip is extracted by the STM32. The data will be displayed on the TFT-LCD color screen after processing. The image acquisition system can effectively collect the image signal, and display it.

signal processing subsystem is the core of a radar system, the performance and the design cycle of which could directly influence the implementation of the whole system Therefore, how to realize a high-performance flexible universa real-time SAR signal processing system is one of the main challenges nowadays. The paper proposes the design architecture and implementation of a high-performance real-time SAR signa processing system with the TI's latest multi-core DSP TMS320C6678 based on the VPX 3U standard. It shows the strong computation ability, stability, easy reconstruction and good adaptability to a variety of imaging algorithms. By the successful application cases of the multi-mode, multi-polarization multi-resolution space-borne and airborne real-time SAR imaging systems, its flexibility and high-performance could be adequately proved. Moreover, our experiment result indicates that a SAR RD algorithm takes only 21.55 s for a 0.2m*0.2m resolution 4GB(16K×32K complex points) image, achieving realtime performance.

Palm reading is a traditional practice in China for a few thousand years to tell ones' fortune. Currently, there is a lack of mobile applications that allow palm reading to be done automatically and efficiently. This study aimed at developing an effective palm reading algorithm which can run in an Android platform efficiently. OpenCV and Java were used for the implementation. Our palm reading algorithm uses an adaptive thresholding approach to segment the palm image from the background, extract the fingers and calculate their length, extract the three principal palm lines in which regression is applied to produce connected and continuous palm lines. The algorithm was implemented as an Android application. Results showed that the algorithm can be run within 2 to 4 seconds, and the automatic palm reading can be done on mobile platforms accurately. The study enriched existing market of mobile applications that aim at palm reading. With successful implementation of such platform, and by collecting more personal information of the users, such as personality and health status, this application can be applied for future research on the prediction of personality and health.

In this simulation study, the proposed Inshore object detection model has been investigated to detect the objects in the oceanic images in order to reduce the human effort to shortlist the images containing the useful information. The simulative analysis focus on the design and implementation to use the hybrid combination of the color and shape based analysis to detect the objects precisely. The MATLAB based simulation is performed on various kinds of images obtained from satellite, and the performance investigation has been performed on the basis of various performance parameters. The aim of the proposed model is helping the rescue operations by creating the shortlisted oceanographic imagery data containing the useful objects, in order to match the required object defined in the visible template.

Recognition of dynamic gesture is one of the most challenging tasks in the computer vision. This paper deals with dynamic hand gesture (digits) recognition. The method consist of three fold novel contributions: firstly finding the flow of hand, secondly recognition technique of signs (Dynamic digits) and thirdly classification of gesture. We worked on 11 to 20 (digits) gestures. Spatiotemporal volume is not always sufficient to grasp the flow of hand movement. We proposed new method to find flow of hand for special signs. Features are extracted using proposed feature extraction algorithm and gestures are recognized. Proposed algorithm shows recognition efficiency of 94% for dynamic gestures. Time complexity of the given method is less as compared to some traditional methods.

Nowadays, motorized vehicles are essential in our daily lives. Therefore, fuel supply services should be efficient and easily accessible. Fuel supplying may encounter some difficulties, such as queues, non-continuous availability of fuel, and fraud. The problems of long waiting queues and non-continuous availability of fuel can be solved by going to another near fuel station. However, fraud is a more serious issue that is more difficult to solve. We developed, by research, an intelligent system for fuel supply management to solve this problem. For safety reasons, we must avoid the risk of causing a spark in the fueling environment. In particular, an electric system close to the pump, the hose, or the vehicle fuel tank may be a risk. We opted for the RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) technology and the use of passive tags, since semi-passive or active tags involve a battery, on one hand, and are significantly more expensive, on the other hand. A motorized vehicle is identified by a passive RFID tag; two other passive RFID tags are used for the fueling nozzle of each fuel pump. Our work consists of the design, by research, of the required system and focuses on the optimization of the topology of antennas and tags so that frauds are prevented. The technique is based on the alignment of tags.

We investigate the problem of line detection in digital image processing and in special how state of the art algorithms behave in the presence of noise and whether CPU efficiency can be improved by the combination of a Monte Carlo Tree Search, hierarchical space decomposition, and parallel computing. The starting point of the investigation is the method introduced in 1962 by Paul Hough for detecting lines in binary images. Extended in the 1970s to the detection of space forms, what came to be known as Hough Transform (HT) has been proposed, for example, in the context of track fitting in the LHC ATLAS and CMS projects. The Hough Transform transfers the problem of line detection, for example, into one of optimization of the peak in a vote counting process for cells which contain the possible points of candidate lines. The detection algorithm can be computationally expensive both in the demands made upon the processor and on memory. Additionally, it can have a reduced effectiveness in detection in the presence of noise. Our first contribution consists in an evaluation of the use of a variation of the Radon Transform as a form of improving theeffectiveness of line detection in the presence of noise. Then, parallel algorithms for variations of the Hough Transform and the Radon Transform for line detection are introduced. An algorithm for Parallel Monte Carlo Search applied to line detection is also introduced. Their algorithmic complexities are discussed. Finally, implementations on multi-GPU and multicore architectures are discussed. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Traditional computers data processing is limited by computer data input, output, storage, display. Further computing needs repeated binary-decimal conversions. With the expansion of data intensive computing needs of distributed computing, decimal computing of mass data is widely applied in banking, financial, signal processing, bio-medical, astronomy, geography, data acquisition and image compression and other fields. Independent decimal floating point unit is becoming important in these areas. A floating point unit is a part of a computer system specially designed to carry out operations on floating point numbers. Floating point unit have been implemented as a coprocessor rather than as an integrated unit in various systems. Today's floating point arithmetic operations are very important in the design of Digital signal processing and application-specific systems. As Fixed-Point arithmetic logics are faster and more area efficient, but sometimes it is desirable to implement calculation using Floating-Point numbers. In most of the digital signal processing applications addition and multiplication is done frequently. This paper presents a review of the Floating Point unit for a signal processing applications, which has faster rate of operations.

Now a day's digital signal processing applications such as biometric trait images, satellite imaging, medical imaging, mainly depends on the multipliers to improve quality of image. But existing Logarithmic multiplier techniques produces error in the output and also they require more time for calculation. Hence it is necessary to nullify the error and increase the speed of operation. To nullify the error and increase the speed delay. of the operation of the Logarithmic Multiplier, 16×16 “Mitchell Log Multiplier” (MLM) using “Karastuba Ofman Multiplier” is implemented. In this project Mitchell Log Multiplier with zero error is implemented for image filters. The higher order 16×16, 8×8 Multipliers are designed using KOM. The higher order KOM multipliers are divided into number of lower order multipliers using till basic block of order 4×4 is obtained using radix 2. 4×4 Mitchell Log Multiplier is designed with zero error by introducing error correction circuit. Further the 8×8 “Mitchell Log Multiplier” is tested for Gaussian filter to remove noise in image. The project model is simulated using Xilinx 14.5 and synthesized using Spartan 6 FPGA family kit. The performance parameters such as speed, error area utilization and PSNR are evaluated. It is observed that using Mitchell log multiplier zero error is obtained for multiplication operation and PSNR of 25.11 DB and delay of 6.629ns is obtained.
