Segmentation of cellular structures with high accuracy has a crucial importance for the detection of cancerous regions in histopathologic images. The proper segmentation of cellular structures is one of the most important issues to be considered when making a diagnosis by pathologists. In this study, the contribution of the superpixel method to the segmentation of high-resolution histopathologic images of renal cell carcinoma from the TCGA (The Cancer Genome Atlas) data set was investigated. The superpixel method performs clustering based on color similarities and spatial proximity of the pixels in histopathologic images. When the results are evaluated, it has been observed that the superpixel method has a positive contribution to both the segmentation success and the running time.

In this study, a simple and efficient airport detection method is presented. The method is performed uses both the geometric and texture features. The method that use RASAT satellite images is carried out in two stages as coarse and fine stage. In the first stage, line segments are detected with line segment detector (LSD) and the short length of lines are filtered. Remaining line segments are grouped using breadth first search (BFS) to extract airport candidate locations. In the second stage, texture features are calculated using texture around line segments and parallel density feature that is extracted from line segment groups are merged. Finally merged features arc classified with support vector machine (SVM) to make detection airport.

The location imaging of reinforced concrete in building structure is studied. An imaging system for detecting concrete cross sections with ultra-wideband stepping frequency conversion radar is designed. According to the requirement of imaging system, a wideband double ridged horn antenna is used as the sensor of the imaging system by using electromagnetic simulation software HFSS and the average of voltage standing-wave ratio (VSWR) is less than 2.5. The transmitted signal is changed in step frequency, and the echo signals of different groups at different positions are collected. The internal structure of concrete is reconstructed by using the omega-k algorithm in the synthetic aperture microwave imaging method. A diameter of 1cm of steel in the concrete at different depth is reconstructed successfully by using this imaging system.

A real-time MTFC algorithm of space remote-sensing camera based on FPGA was designed. Backward compatibility to the existing 8-bit displays for HDR image and video compression is an essential requirement for the wide acceptance of HDR technology by the users. While these previous methods mainly focus on the rate-distortion optimization of base layer, the encoding of the residue in the enhancement layer comparatively has received less attention. In this paper, we investigate whether HDR image coding residue exhibits also local anisotropic characteristics or not as in the case of motion compensated LDR video coding residue. The verification of existence of such characteristics, as an essential initial stage in such a research, form a base for the development of directional encoding methods for HDR residue as well. For this purpose, statistical auto-covariance analysis on HDR image coding residue is performed in this paper. Specifically, we first interpret the resulting auto-covariance model parameters for HDR images and then the behavior of these parameters is analyzed with respect to bitrate, spatial activity and dynamic range as the main variables in HDR image coding. The experiments indicate that the HDR residue exhibits local anisotropic characteristics, which enables the use of directional methods for the encoding of enhancement layer in HDR coding.

In this paper, we propose an algorithm for tracking of moving objects in video sequences. Our method uses Kalman filter to predict the location of target and exploits superpixel based tracking algorithm to find the real position of target in a search region surrounding the predicted location. The motion dynamics and equations from mechanics physics are used to design a Kalman filter with assumption of constant acceleration motion. Using this Kalman filter makes our method able to handle long lasting occlusions. We have also devised a scheme that helps the tracker to find the target after long lasting occlusions.
