By using folding transformation we can determine the control circuits in digital signal processing (DSP) architectures where multiple algorithm operations are time multiplexed or folded to a single functional unit. In this paper we are focusing on reduced area, less power consumption and increased the speed of the circuit. In DSP architecture it is important to minimize silicon area so we apply folding on digital filters. The hierarchical folding transformation performs folding or synthesis only on one substructure and then completes the folding process by changing the number of switching instances and delays in the folded structure. Analytical and experimental results shows that it reduces the area and increase run time in folded architecture and hierarchical folding than original structure.

MIPI Alliance has developed C-PHY specification which with a higher rate and application level than the past version, such as the current market Camera CMOS image sensors, Display Driver ICs, Application processor for Mobile devices;all need to use this protocol in the future. MIPI C-PHY has a high potential in signal transmission applications. It utilizes three lines of two highly coupled to achieve the same anti-noise capability as traditional differential signals, and uses back-end processing to significantly increase signal transmission rate to 2.28 times the D-PHY. C-PHY must be designed to strict conditions : 3-wire, any two to 100 ohms;each line of 50 ohm, so the layout will be a big challenge, how to design PCB stack up and arrange trace layout is testing layout team and PCB manufacturers design capacity. This paper explores how to develop a C-PHY layout rule and implement it on a PCB board, followed by simulation software to compare the bandwidth and eye diagrams of various layout ways to find the most appropriate design approach. Theoretically: the perfect C-PHY is equidistant to each other, and each 50 ohms, two for the 100 ohm height coupling, so keep the traditional differential pair anti-noise ability. In fact: it is difficult to equidistant with each other and precise control of the impedance, and the upper and lower layers of the amount of noise received is different, so the ability to resist noise slightly worse than the traditional differential pair, but the difference is not too large. In order to achieve the three-wire coupling structure on the PCB board, it is important to ensure that the PCB manufacturer can make it. To achieve a highly coupled triangular C-PHY structure, how to choose between process feasibility and signal integrity is the focus of this article.

This paper reports investigation of modified two-dimensional(2-D) to three-dimensional(3-D) beam forming algorithm for breast cancer detection. A Graphical User Interface(GUI) based on Matrix Laboratory(MATLAB) was developed to integrate measurement task and image reconstruction, thus simplify the process. A prototype of a cylindrical radome was designed and printed using 3-D printing technology. The radome serves the purpose of holding the antenna and breast tissue-mimicking medium in position. Tumour target with few breast mimicking medium were placed in a Bi-conical Ultra-Wide Band(UWB) cylindrical antenna array arrangement. In this project, the performances of various type of medium with different algorithm were analysed. As results with breast phantom, EDAS produces 36%, 28% and 27% improvements in signal to clutter ratio as compared to DAS, DMAS and CF DAS, respectively.

The aim of this work is to design, implement and validate a primary communication system based on a brain-computer interface. There are people who for various reasons - are affected in their ability to externalize their communication, however, they receive and process information from different sources. This system would allow basic communication - allowing the user to answer closed questions - through thought. The system was implemented by analyzing and interpreting electrical signals from brain activity, collected through electrodes attached to the scalp. The analog electrical signals were received by a data acquisition system and digitized for computer analysis. We implemented different signal processing techniques, pattern analysis, and classification and discrimination methods. By analyzing these signals and interpreting the electrical patterns, was achieved understand answers to simple questions. The system has been validated testing with healthy volunteers in the laboratory, obtaining good results.

Cognitive impairment is a noteworthy problem in the healthcare domain due to an aging population. The existing methods to assess mild cognitive impairment such as Visual Reproduction experiment is via paper and pen, and the results are read and diagnosed by doctors. This classic method only collects static characteristics of visual memory and loses details of human behavior in testing. In this paper, we design a novel interactive system coupled with a digital pen and paper. The system records the dynamics information of drawing behavior during the experiments without changing the consistence of tester experience. Thus these dynamic data can be used to show a correlation with the quality of test completion based on the previous Visual Reproduction research. Meanwhile, functions such as real-time recording and offline management highly improve the efficiency and accuracy of medical judgment. Additionally, new matrixes obtained by calculating dynamic data may be important consideration for future phenotype and human behavior association studies. This human-interactive system reveals the dynamic information which can assist speculation of quality of drawing scripts and also can benefit medical researchers on effective evaluation of the Visual Reproduction experiment results.

The main problems of complex-scene understanding and semantic scene segmentation are caused by mismatched relationships, confusion categories, and inconspicuous classes. Towards above issues, we propose a global refinement atrous convolutional neural network (GRANet) for semantic scene segmentation. To enlarge the receptive field of filters, we use atrous convolution instead of the downsampling opera tors. To handle the challenge caused by the existence of objects at multiple scales in a scene, we adopt multiple rates atrous convolution structure. And to overcome the problem that the current semantic segmentation architecture can not make good use of global information, we propose a multiple pooling module schemes to utilize the global context information to boost the performance of our GRANet. The pro posed GRANet achieves state-of-the-art performance on the SiftFlow Dataset and attains comparable performance with other state-of-the-art works on Cityscapes dataset.

In realm of optical SETI, searches for pulsed laser signals have historically been preferred over those for continuous wave beacons. There are many valid reasons for this, namely the near elimination of false positives and simple experimental components. However, due to significant improvements in laser technologies and light-detection systems since the mid-20th century, as well as new data from the recent Kepler mission, continuous wave searches should no longer be ignored. In this paper we propose a search for continuous wave laser beacons from an intelligent civilization in the Andromeda galaxy. Using only a 0.8 meter telescope, a standard photometric system, and an image processing pipeline, we expect to be able to detect any CW laser signal directed at us from an extraterrestrial civilization in M31, as long as the civilization is operating at a wavelength we can "see" and has left the beacon on long enough for us to detect it here on Earth. The search target is M31 due to its high stellar density relative to our own Milky Way galaxy. Andromeda is home to at least one trillion stars, and thus at least one trillion planets. As a result, in surveying M31, we are surveying one trillion planets, and consequently one trillion possible locations of intelligent life. This is an unprecedented number of targets relative to other past SETI searches. We call this the TPS or Trillion Planet Survey.
