The paper investigates the problem of stability analysis of differential linear repetitive processes with norm-bounded uncertainties. By applying a version of the Kalman-Yakubovich-Popov (KYP) Lemma, relaxed conditions for stability along the pass are proposed in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), which can be easily solved via standard numerical software. In particular, the conservatism of the resulting condition for stability along the pass can be significantly reduced by dividing the entire frequency domain into several sub-intervals and by applying KYP Lemma to each frequency sub-interval. Moreover, the obtained stability result is suitable for extension to robust control law design for processes with norm bounded uncertainty. Finally, a numerical example is provided to illustrate the application of the developed results.

This paper addresses the problem of predicting machine failures in an industrial manufacturing process based on multivariate time series data. A workflow is presented for cleaning and preprocessing the data, and for training and evaluating a predictive model. Its implementation is modular and extensible to support changes in the underlying production processes and the gathered data. Two predictive models are presented, based on Convolutional Neural Networks and Recurrent Neural Networks, and evaluated on data from an advanced machining process used for cutting complex shapes into metal pieces.

This research is dedicated to the examination of collaboration problems in industrial enterprise content management (ECM) systems. In the article we try to define how collaboration is organized during simultaneous use of documents, files and other securable objects and how the well-known problems of access control are solved. In the first part of the article several popular ECM systems are analyzed and classified by the storage methods for object versions and special issues of access control. It was found out that the existing systems do not allow to simultaneously grant permissions to every version of an object and to provide a user-friendly centralized access control with consideration to the relation with processes and tasks in ECM. Then the model which solves this problem and which is implemented in Evfrat system is described. In the end the relevance of this model to the general requirements for collaborative environments is disputed and the model is compared to other models.

computer science tecniques, methodologies, and approaches, are directly applied to improve other enginnering disciplines. Construction is no exception, where software and data analysis are used to improve the processes of control and monitoring of construction projects. Most of the analysis are based on a key-value perspective analysis of the data. However, an emerging Process Mining discipline has proven to be able to capture a different process perspective. This interdisciplinary work is a step on this direction, proposing the Constraint Bag Process Model (CBPM), a novel use of Process Mining for answering process-oriented questions on construction projects.

We describe four algorithms for state estimation of stochastic differential-algebraic equations. We consider the extended Kalman filter, the unscented Kalman filter, the particle filter, and the ensemble Kalman filter. The differential-algebraic equations that we consider are in a semi-explicit index-l form. models of dynamic UV flash processes are in such a form. The UV flash is relevant to rigorous models of many chemical phase equilibrium processes because it is a mathematical representation of the second law of thermodynamics. State estimation is relevant to model predictive control, model identification, fault detection, monitoring, and prediction. State estimation of UV flash processes is therefore important to safe and economical operation of processes such as flash separation, distillation, multiphase flow in pipelines, and oil production. We compare the accuracy and efficiency of the four filters using a numerical example that involves a UV flash separation process. Furthermore, we demonstrate that the filters can be used as soft sensors that estimate the vapor-liquid composition of the separation process based on temperature and pressure measurements.

Hazard analysis is critical for safety assurance of smart systems which is usually controlled by software. As a novel causality model, Systems-Theoretic Accident Modeling and processes (STAMP) has been used in various areas to obtain more causal factors during hazard analysis. However, the application of STAMP thus far is ad-hoc with no rigorous procedure to analyze the system hazards effectively, and the quality of the analysis results can't be guaranteed. Furthermore, the temporal factor as an important cause of hazards has been paid little attention in STAMP based analysis. With the purpose of overcoming these limitations, this paper presents a systematic method for hazard analysis based on STAMP. And the Hazardous control Action Tree (HCAT) is proposed to model and analyze all the situations should be considered for hazard analysis. Also, several rules are given to guide the hazard analysis of temporal conditions in the control processes. Finally, a case study is used to illustrate the feasibility and availability of proposed method.

Evolution of process-aware information systems necessitates several modifications to business process models with time. To be able to trace the evolving process models, there is a crucial need of systematic and modular enhancements of processes driven by functional and non-functional requirements. Hence, it is beneficial to record the history of modifications through versions of process models for unforeseen situations. In this paper, we present patterns for process edification that ensures systematic modifications to process models establishing traceability. We introduce process edification through the notion of edification cuts based on patterns applied on process models that results in an enhancement of the model into one of its improved version. The changes over process models occurring in a trace are quantified using various metrics. The approach is applied on different evolving industrial process models and the results are discussed.

Stochastic Gradient Descent (SGD) is a preferred optimization method for training large-scale deep learning models. To accelerate the training process, asynchronous SGD (ASGD) has been widely used in a distributed environment, where parameters of the model are maintained by a parameter server called master, and there exist multiple edges known as workers that locally process data in parallel and report the results back to the server. This is also known as edge computing. We propose a new variance reduced ASGD algorithm that reduces the variance of gradient update using the control variate method, and adaptively adjusts the momentum term based on the estimated gradient staleness. We perform experiments on a variety of real datasets to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed algorithm.
