In competitive electricity market, congestion is a serious economic and reliability concern. Congestion is a common problem that an independent system operator faces in open access electricity market. This project presents a reliable and efficient meta-heuristic based approach to solve congestion problem. The proposed approach of the present work employs Firefly algorithm (FFA) for alleviation of transmission network congestion in a pool based electricity market via active power rescheduling of generators. FFA is a new meta-heuristic approach based on flashing patterns and behaviour of fireflies. Various important security constraints such as load bus voltage and line loading have been taken into account while dealing with congestion problem. The proposed methodology may help in removing the congestion of line with minimum rescheduling cost. The numerical results of modified ieee 30-bus test power systems are illustrated. © 2018 ieee.

In this paper, artificial neural network (ANN) is proposed to estimate d and q-Axis rotor fluxes for rotor resistance estimation. Accurate value of rotor resistance is essential for good performance of vector controlled IM drive. The rotor resistance can be estimated from state synthesis equations. The state synthesis equations (SSE) demand the need of flux components. Conventional Voltage model (VM) used for flux computation fails due to low speed problems. Hence, ANN is proposed for flux computation. The proposed ANN based flux estimator is shown to perform well for various test conditions for rotor resistance estimation and overcome the low problems. © 2018 ieee.

The concept is demonstrated through a wireless power transfer (WPT) system for electric vehicle battery charging, namely Z-source resonant converter (ZSRC). Due to the Z-source network (ZSN), the ZSRC inherently performs PFC and regulate the system output voltage simultaneously, without adding extra semiconductor devices and control circuitry to the conventional WPT system such as conventional PFC converters do. In other words, the ZSN can be categorized as a family of the single stage PFC converters. As a result of establishment of Automatic Identification system(AIS) networks, maritime vessel trajectories are becoming increasingly available. Finding outliers in a collection of patterns among AIS trajectories is critical for real time applications ranging from military surveillance to transportation management. In this paper we present a distance-based approach for trajectory outlier detection on trajectory data. First, we apply Density Based Spatial Clustering of Applications with Noise(DBSCAN) to generate patterns from original trajectories. Second, we extract gravity vectors and sample stop points from clusters to retain stop and move information and to reduce the further computation cost. To measure the similarity between trajectory points and clusters, cluster relative distance and cluster angular distance are proposed. Finally, we present experiments on real AIS data at Chinese QiongZhou strait. The experiment results show that our methods can detect distance anomaly and speed/ heading anomaly effectively and greatly reduces computation cost.

Development of systems for Human-Robot Interaction (HRI) has been a subject of intense interest to many researchers in recent years. Communication, reflecting intent or emotional state, is a central issue in such systems. This paper propose the use of bodily movement for robotic expression of emotional states. To realize such expression a robot must be equipped with a set of articulators for head, trunk and arms. Normal human movements have been taken as a model. Observations of human upper-body motions were recorded by a depth camera. The visual data thus obtained was analyzed by means of the Laban Movement Analysis (LMA) method to elicit critical parameters for generating corresponding robotic movement. Experiments were conducted with the upper-body of a Seamless robot to verify and evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed system.
