this paper concerns the design of smart homes and buildings using coordinating Internet of things (IoT). IoTs offer a variety of sensors and other smartness functions so that they can be deployed over a number of typical household scenarios and buildings to make them eco-friendly and intelligent. Such mechanisms include providing active management of energy, power generation, water, solid and liquid waste, bio-waste, garden and room space, besides offering earthquake monitoring and protection. this paper also presents a typical device model using a variant of UML, called C-COM used in energy industry. the devices are held over a private cloud based system, whose performance is also evaluated using parametric evaluation technique. the performance indices show that the system is viable even over typical households. It is also cautioned that while this system proposed a decent degree of security, privacy issues are matters yet to be addressed. © 2021, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

In the edge computing environment, in order to reduce the energy consumption of the entire network on the premise of meeting user needs, this paper proposes a low-energy edge computing resource deployment algorithm based on Particle Swarm. First, an edge computing service model based on SDN is designed, which includes three types of devices and three types of management processes. Secondly, the two requirements of user content service request and calculation service request are analyzed, and three energy consumption models of the entire network are constructed: storage energy consumption, calculation energy consumption, and transmission energy consumption. Finally, based on the main idea of the particle swarm optimization algorithm, the solution method is modeled, and a low-energy edge computing resource deployment algorithm based on particle swarm optimization is proposed. In the experimental part, the algorithm in this paper is compared with the traditional algorithm in different service request arrival rate environments. Low-quality software products are synonymous with small software companies, yet thousands of process tools and methods are available, although unfortunately, they remain unutilized. the utilization of these process tools are said to be very challenging to small software companies with the difficulty of adaptability tagged to the context in which the companies operate since the process tools are not designed to take care of the operational context of the small software companies. this survey study was undertaken to empirically investigate the implication of the organizational dynamics on using process tools in SSCs. A total of 115 respondents from Tanzania, Namibia, and Ghana were reached through a structured questionnaire. Our findings reveal that the ad-hoc behaviors and attitude breed a culture that inhibits procedural and process-intensive practices synonymous with most software engineering process tools. this finding is interesting because this area has been underestimated while looking at software practice, yet it is significant in understanding practice in relation to software process tools, significantly how small software companies can be helped to adopt the different tools and also provide a mechanism to help the designers of process tools make tools that are usable in the context of the practice of SSCs. © 2021 ACM.

the Coronavirus pandemic (COVID19) and the consequent situation of social isolation have affected research design, especially in fields working directly with people. While online tools enable communication and collaboration, some specific domains involving contemporary technology-based systems, such as Socioenactive systems, demand a deeper understanding of human embodied action in real-world scenarios with ubiquitous technology. this work addresses this issue by presenting a study in which a research team used the OpenDesign Platform to conduct a process of ideation and consolidation of a socioenactive system solution during pandemics and physical presence limitations. the contributions are twofold, addressing the demands of the research team working remotely and envisaging an interaction scenario for people in a socioenactive system, even without their copresence in the same physical space. Results have shown the strengths and weaknesses of the OpenDesign Platform and lessons learned towards supporting systems for teamwork in such systems' ideation context. © 2021 ACM.

Many of Internet users have been the victims of fraudulent e-commerce websites and the number grows. this paper presents an investigation on three types of features namely HTML tags, textual content and image of the website that could possibly contain some patterns that indicate it is fraudulent. Four machine learning algorithms were used to measure the accuracy of the fraudulent e-commerce websites detection. these techniques are Linear Regression, Decision Tree, Random Forest and XGBoost. 497 e-commerce websites were used as training and testing dataset. Testing was done in two phases. In phase one, each features was tested to see its discriminative capability. Meanwhile in phase two, these features were combined. the result shows that textual content has consistently outperformed the other two features especially when XGBoost was used as a classifier. With combined features, overall accuracy has improved and best result of accuracy recorded was 98.7% achieved when Linear Regression was used as a classifier. © the Editor(s) (if applicable) and the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2021.

With the popularity of social media, there has been a shift in the ways we gather and share news. Wikipedia uniquely brings together collective efforts to report on current events. While there is strong evidence of English Wikipedia attention to news events, it is not clear how does this effort exists across the different Wikipedia language communities. We study the collaboration process and the resulting content quality of the 6,730 Wikipedia articles related to 2,064 news events in English and three of the most spoken languages in the world: Arabic, Chinese, and Spanish. Our results provide evidence that while limited resources in smaller Wikipedia communities can lead to different collaboration patterns, their efforts lead to very comparable quality of contribution. However, this similar quality level is achieved with a delay corresponding to size of their Wikipedia and potential availability of resources. © 2021 ACM.

Recently, the emergence of the new malware has caused a major threat especially in finance sector in which many of the online banking data was stolen by the adversaries. the malware threats information needs to be collected immediately after its outbreak. Early detection can save others from being the victims. Unfortunately, there is time delay to get the new malware information into the Malware Database such as ExploitDB. A pre-emptive way needs to be taken to gather the first-hand information of the new malware as a preventive measure. One of the methods is by extracting information from open source data such as online news by using Named Entity recognition (NER). However, the existing NER system is incapable to extract the domain specific entities from the online news accurately. the aim of this paper is to extract the malware entities and its behaviour attributes using extended version of NER with HMM and CRF. A malware annotated corpus is produced in order to conduct the supervise learning for the machine learning approach of the name entity tagger. the results show CRF performs slightly better than HMM. Few experiments are performed in order to optimize the performance of CRF in terms of feature extraction. Finally, the malware behaviour information is visualized onto a dashboard by combining few statistical graphs using matplotlib. the purpose of visualizing the malware behaviour profile extracted from the online news is to help cyber security experts to better understand the malware behaviour. © the Editor(s) (if applicable) and the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2021.

CNN is basically utilized to tackle troublesome picture-driven pattern recognition tasks and with their exact yet straightforward construction, provide a untangle method for starting with ANNs.A new strategy for identification of diseases in plants using CNN is proposed in this paper. the dataset utilized contains around 70,000 images including training and testing dataset. this paper gives a short prologue to CNNs, discussing lately expressed documents and newly framed strategies in evolving these brilliantly tremendous picture recognition models.

Decision support clinical pathways are used to improve the performance of the health-care management system. An effective clinical pathway (CP) helps to know the optimal treatment route that patients will follow. the extent of the CP goes from the first contact in the health-center (or hospital) to the completion of the treatment until the patient is dismissed. Up to now, far too little attention has been paid to a systematic review, the research and the development of CPs in a low resource setting (LRS). the main focus has been primarily on data-intensive environments where there is no shortage of resources. A systematic search in PubMed and Web of Science was conducted for bundling and categorizing the relevant approaches for LRS. Of 45 full reviewed articles, 25/45(55.6%) and 20/45(44.4%) of the studies were conducted using knowledge-based and data-driven approaches respectively. Among the knowledge-based studies, 9/25(36%) were reporting a stand-alone applications, 10/25(40%) attempting to deliver a paper-based CP, and the remaining focus was on web-based applications. In the data-driven approaches, 15/20(75%) tried to integrate with the electronic health record. the paper identifies the approaches for executing CPs and highlights key considerations for building LRS-compatible CPs. Data-driven CPs do not only resolve the challenges of improving the quality of existing knowledge-based CPs, but also enable evidence-based practice, improve outcomes, and reduce cost and delay. © 2022, ICST Institute for Computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.

Human Activity recognition has gained tremendous drive in recent years. this is due to the increasing ubiquity of all types of sensors in commodity devices such as smartphones, smart watches, tablets, etc. this has made available to the normal user a continuous stream of data including visual data, inertial motion data, audio, etc. In this paper we focus on data streamed from inertial motion units (IMUs). Such units are currently embedded on almost all wearable devices including smart watches, wrist bands, etc. In many research works, as well as in many real applications, different specialized IMU units are mounted on different body parts. In the current work, we try to answer the following question: given the streamed inertial signals of a gait pattern, as well as some other activities, determine which sensor location on the subject's body generated this signal. We validate our work on several datasets that contain multi-dimensional measurements from a multitude of sensors mounted on different body parts. the main sensors used are the accelerometer and gyroscope. We use the Random Forest Classifier over the raw data without any prior feature extraction. this has proven yet very effective as evidenced by the results using different metrics including accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, etc. An important application of such research can be in data augmentation of timeseries inertial data. this can be used as well for healthcare applications, for example, in treatment assessment for people with motion disabilities.
