For the location of emergency material storage in emergency service of power field, most of the existing studies are based on general logistics, do not select the location according to the actual situation of the region, and do not take into account time constraints, costs, coverage and other factors. There are also loopholes in the construction of emergency system. Therefore, this article analyzes the urban power emergency service points by the classification of demand points, establishes a multi-objective hierarchical coverage model with the maximum coverage and the minimum total loss, and introduces the traffic weighting coefficient into the model. Finally, the immune algorithm is used to verify the optimized multi objective programming hierarchical coverage model. The experiments show that the proposed method can provide services for emergency demand points in time and efficiently.

Web design courses are too often focused on developing programming competences but do not take into account that the final product has to be designed to promote inclusiveness, accessibility, and usability issues. Detaching these topics from the course and relegating them to seminars or lectures where students adopt a passive attitude might not help to highlight enough the importance, they have in the design process. In this paper, we present a series of workshops organized as part of a teaching innovation project to make students aware of gender bias in web design through their own analysis. Participants are enrolled in different degrees to ensure a variety both in the demographics and in the points of view. They worked in groups to identify the user personas of three websites about kitchen robots, beers, and toys. The results have shown a growing concern in finding stereotypes and gender bias in the images and texts used. The discussion within groups has helped them in building a common critical conscience and awareness about this problem. Students found the activity interesting not only for the topic and the content but also for the format since cooperating with others and practicing with real examples was beneficial for promoting critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving. © 2021 ACM.

This study addresses the increasingly encountered challenge of data clustering. We present a comparative study to data clustering for cloud computing using Fuzzy C-MEANS and Adaptive Resonance Theory. To reduce variance and improve generalization ability, we used a resampling method based on 10-fold cross-validation. The typical initialization scheme is applied to improve the convergence speed of training and thus, reach the optimal solution. Experimental results on cloud computing datasets showed that the typical initialization-based Fuzzy Adaptive Resonance Theory model is effective and achieves improved accuracy for pattern recognition task compared to Fuzzy C-MEANS. Technology has turned things around in the microelectronics world and Integrated Circuit (IC) has been the driving force behind all these innovations. A lot of improvements have been made since the inception of the IC with the goal of improving performance of an IC. However, as the number of transistors on a chip increase with the goal of improving performance, it comes with a major drawback of more power dissipation. To address these challenges, this study investigates the energy efficiencies between two different types of adiabatic logic families, implemented with Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistor (MOSFET) and Fin Field Effect Transistor (FinFET) 32 nm technology node. LTSPICE (SPICE based analog electronic circuit simulator computer software) is used as the simulation tool to evaluate the power dissipation between both the Energy Charge Recovery logic (ECRL) and the Positive Feedback Adiabatic logic (PFAL). The results obtained revealed clearly that the Energy Charge Recovery logic (ECRL) Inverter and NAND gates dissipate more power than the PFAL Inverter and NAND gate using MOSFET transistor. On the other hand, the power dissipated for the ECRL NOR gate is less than the PFAL NOR gate. Furthermore, the experimental results demonstrate that for all gates configurations (Inverter, NOR and NAND), ECRL dissipate less power than the PFAL using the FinFET transistor.

Dialogue Systems are tools designed for various practical purposes concerning human-machine interaction. These systems should be built on ethical foundations because their behavior may heavily influence a user (think especially about children). The primary objective of this paper is to present the architecture and prototype implementation of a Multi Agent System (MAS) designed for ethical monitoring and evaluation of a dialogue system. A prototype application, for monitoring and evaluation of chatting agents' (human/artificial) ethical behavior in an online customer service chat point w.r.t their institution/company's codes of ethics and conduct, is developed and presented. We propose a method for generating explainable rule sets from tree-ensemble learners using Answer Set programming (ASP). To this end, we adopt a decompositional approach where the split structures of the base decision trees are exploited in the construction of rules, which in turn are assessed using pattern mining methods encoded in ASP to extract interesting rules. We show how user-defined constraints and preferences can be represented declaratively in ASP to allow for transparent and flexible rule set generation, and how rules can be used as explanations to help the user better understand the models. Experimental evaluation with real-world datasets and popular tree-ensemble algorithms demonstrates that our approach is applicable to a wide range of classification tasks. © A. Takemura & K. Technology can be empowering: It can lift the burden from tasks we find dreadful and help us excel in tasks we enjoy. Equally, a mismatch between the user interface (UI) and our skills can make us feel incompetent and reluctant towards the technology. With the trend to increase the level of automation in fields beyond traditional manufacturing, such as laboratories or small workshops, new technologies such as collaborative robots (cobots) are entering the workplace. The technology literacy levels of professionals in these fields may vary greatly depending on their age, gender, education and personal interests, creating a challenge in designing universal cobot Uts. In this qualitative study, we address the question of how introducing interaction skills and intelligence to cobots may inhibit or encourage users to use them in their work context. The interviews, performed with 15 individuals working in laboratory settings, gave rise to numerous themes relevant to the design of user-empowering cobot interfaces for individuals with varying technology literacy levels: As "programming may not be for a normal person", talking to a robot may not be for another. Incorporating the unique interests, fears, personal and domain experience of the end users can contribute to the design and development of cobot interfacesas diverse as their needs, thus maximizing the likelihood of successful integration across diverse work environments.

Computational Thinking (CT) allows us to solve complex problems by expressing it in a way that computers, humans, or both, can understand. CT is closely related to problem solving and critical thinking, which are actively used in STEM education. Research on CT has gained steady momentum recently, and many of the institutions around the world have adopted CT into their curriculum. This paper presents a literature review conducted to identify the interventions used to develop CT skills and the methods used to assess CT skills. The review explored various publications on CT and identified that curriculum-based interventions and workshops are the primary interventions used for introducing CT in the educational sector. During the analysis, we have also identified a handful of assessment tools used for measuring CT skills, but they are not standardized assessment tools. Hence, we plan to analyze the existing assessment methods and propose a new sophisticated tool for evaluating CT skills as our future work.

Research papers are a tremendous source of cutting edge knowledge. Writing a good research paper requires proper planning and structuring of paper, which often comes from experience. Planning and structuring the research paper is tedious for novice researchers due to the lack of a process that could assist novice researchers in planning and structuring their paper. We conducted workshops on writing research papers based on a generic framework to understand the mindset and problems faced by novice design researchers. workshops provided us with helpful insights about how and what novice researchers think while writing research papers. We came up with a concept of using mindmaps that allows novice researchers to plan and structure the content of the research paper before writing the paper. It was observed that it reduced stress and anxiety around organizing the contents of a paper while writing it and researchers could focus more on the language of the paper while writing it. This directly increases the quality of a paper in terms of its language and narration. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

In natural systems, many species are able to coordinate their individual intelligences to perform complex tasks. Swarm Intelligence also denotes the concept of distributed intelligence which relies on the coordination between a massive number of individual intelligences. In this paper, we develop a logical approach to consider distributed intelligence. Our proposal is based on a pedestrian safety issue. So, we extend the bases of a distributed non-monotonic theory to model the "vehicle-pedestrian" interaction system. This extension concerns the preliminary approach proposed in our previous work. Non-monotonic reasoning processes for distributed intelligent logic agents strongly contribute to the development of Pedestrian Collision Warning Systems. These systems benefit greatly from the efficiency of pedestrian detection which has reached a high level thanks to several technologies. We demonstrate the validity of our construction and we specify the knowledge representation of driver-pedestrian interaction in the context of the proposed theory. (C) 2021 The Authors.
