The occurrence of a single line to ground (SLG) fault including high impedance faults (HIFs) in different grounding systems results in a fault current with low magnitude. This causes difficulties for the existing protection unit to detect the fault and identify the faulty feeder. To overcome, this manuscript aims for a new fault detection approach based on the sliding window-based recursive matrix pencil method (RMPM). The proposed method begins with the reconstruction of the fault signal using RMPM and then computes the transient error by subtracting the reconstructed fault signal from the original signal. This transient error is used as a fault detection index (FDI) which is also used to classify the faulty feeder. Results show the effectiveness of the addressed method, obtained by simulating different worst scenarios (fault and non-fault). © 2023 ieee.

Intraoperative Cone-Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) facilitates intraoperative navigation for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery (MISS). However, high-attenuation metal implants used in MISS often cause metal artifacts in the reconstructed CBCT images. current algorithms do not consider the cross-view information in the projection-domain for metal artifact reduction (MAR). Inaccurate projection-domain inpainting results in CBCT MAR lead to tissue blurring and secondary artifacts, significantly compromising the accuracy of CBCT-guided MISS and increasing surgical risks. To address the above challenge, in this paper, we propose a novel unsupervised cross-view prior inpainting network for CBCT Metal Artifact Reduction named NEAT-Net. Firstly, a cross-view prior multi-scale inpainting module is constructed to learn the inter-view complementary information. Secondly, a hybrid feature attention module is proposed to adaptively fuse cross-view features. In addition, an unsupervised training approach is proposed to directly learn from metal-affected data. Extensive experiments are conducted to verify the effectiveness of our algorithm on a real clinical dataset. © 2024 ieee.

In general, electric motors that use the energy from the batteries are combined with IC engines to power hybrid electric vehicles. In this study, a pure hybrid electric car with no emissions is explored. Solar PV is coupled with electric motors and energy storage components. Solar energy, which is ubiquitous and abundant in nature, can be a fantastic replacement for traditional resources. The use of this technology will lessen the environmental pollution. Three parameters, including load demand, battery SOC, and solar power, are taken into account while allocating electricity. © 2023 ieee.

In polishing, force-controlled performance is affected by manipulator dynamics, end-effector dynamics, and workpiece uncertainty. This paper proposes a new force-controlled method by utilizing multi-force sensors for robotic polishing applications. One of the force sensors is installed between the endpoint of the manipulator and the fixed platform of the end-effector to realize the dynamic decoupling. The other one is added at the back of the workpiece to realize force tracking. The experimental results indicate that the proposed method's contact force response speed and overshoot are both better than those of the conventional force-controlled method. © 2024 ieee.

Microfluidics has been applied in various fields by enabling precise control and manipulation of fluids at the microscale, thereby fostering the development of innovative lab-on-a-chip devices. This paper introduces a novel approach by integrating magnetic miniature robots with traditional microfluidic chips. These robots function as programmable devices capable of real-time, on-demand regulation within microfluidic systems. They excel in tasks such as reliable particle sorting, effective flow rate modulation, and precise flow direction control. They are achieved through the manipulation using external magnetic fields. The findings suggest using miniature magnetic robots as versatile tools to significantly enhance the functionality, precision, and adaptability of microfluidic systems. This research underscores the potential of magnetic miniature robots for advanced applications in microfluidics, paving the way for the development of increasingly complex and versatile microfluidic devices. © 2024 ieee.

This paper focuses on the application of AutomationML (AML) and Open Platform Communications Unified Architecture (OPC UA) in robot interoperability, aiming to promote the intelligence and interoperability of production systems in the era of Industry 4.0. By analyzing the current challenges of industrial robot interoperability, especially in terms of data standardization, a robot system architecture is proposed to improve the compatibility and information exchange efficiency between different types of robots. Research methods include system architecture design, integration of AML and OPCUA methods, and their empirical application in real-world manufacturing environments. The results confirm the feasibility and practicability of the method in the application of industrial robots, and give different devices higher interoperability and flexible response ability. It provides a theoretical basis and practical guidance for the development of intelligent manufacturing systems in the future, and has important practical significance and application value in improving the level of industrial digitalization and intelligence. © 2024 ieee.

In this study, based on the COAWST (Coupled Ocean-Atmosphere-Wave-Sediment Transport) model and the GRU (Gated Recurrent Unit) algorithm, a short-term forecasting model named as COAWST-GRU for current speed profiles was developed. The model used the GRU algorithm and optimization strategy to make an error correction to the forecasted current speed from the COAWST's outputs, in order to obtain more accurate in-situ current speed forecasts. According to the comparison of the model's prediction results in Cangnan offshore wind farm with the submerged buoy observation data, the COAWST-GRU model significantly improved the accuracy of the current prediction, and the mean error was reduced by about 67% when compared to the original COAWST model. In the vertical direction, the model realized an overall correction of the error in all depth layers, which had a high potential for application in marine engineering construction. © 2024 ieee.

Research in platform ecosystem development has gained considerable attention in the last decade, building on technology and digital platforms, open, trusted, innovative engagement. Digital platforms are now considered everywhere and have become widely adopted in the business world as an economic community supported by a foundation of interacting organizations and individuals. This paper aims to identify the key concepts in the platform ecosystem development and further establish the study's future directions. This includes defining the key players and components arising when facilitators attempt to build a platform ecosystem. Hence, a systematic review was conducted to confirm current practice, identify variations in reports and further inform areas for the future research study. The study results focused on the conceptual, empirical, and practical structure of the available evidence in the literature. We understand the critical requirements before an ecosystem can emerge or evolve and provide long-term success for businesses in today's circular economy through this research.

With the widespread popularity of intelligent connected vehicles, the demand for software updates of Electronic Control Units (ECUs) is becoming increasingly frequent. However, as the functionality of software update packages becomes more enriched, the time required for Over-The-Air (OTA) update also lengthens accordingly, and the security of update packages particularly important in this process. Aiming at the problems existing in the current OTA update of vehicle, this paper proposes an OTA system solution based on Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) hybrid encryption and decryption technology and Ethernet transmission. Through validation, this OTA system not only significantly reduces the time for OTA updates but also ensures the security of update packages, thereby meeting the growing update demands and security standards. © 2024 ieee.

The forestry sector has been identified as a key potential contributor to growth and employment in the Southern African development Community (SADC). However, existing industrial policy is based on a high-level approach that can misdirect intervention related to the sector by overlooking potential only pointed out by more detailed analysis. This study applies developed tools for effective and nuanced policy making. The Input-Output Product Space (IOPS) method framework was employed to determine forestry sector policy targets on a product category level across 10 SADC countries. Out of 38 product categories, the six top-performing categories were: wood wool and wood flour;filter blocks, slabs and plates of paper pulp;glazed paper;plans and drawings on paper;paper, paperboard coated with kaolin or organic substances;and transfers (decalcomanias). The IOPS analysis proved to be useful as a quantitative starting point for policy discussions, being more detailed than current policy documents. In-depth market research and further qualitative analysis should follow the application of the IOPS framework for effective policy-making.
