As the construction of oil and gas pipelines continues to advance, the safety of pipelines has garnered increasing attention. Pipeline welds represent a crucial factor in ensuring the safe transportation of pipelines over the long term. Therefore, to guarantee the quality and safety of pipeline welding, it is necessary to inspect the welds of oil and gas pipelines. Currently, manual detection is the most common method for inspection. However, as the number of pipeline detection points continues to increase, manual detection has revealed issues such as low detection efficiency and the susceptibility of detection results to subjective judgments. To address these shortcomings, this study introduces machine vision technology to the detection and recognition of oil and gas pipeline welds, which holds significant guidance implications for the detection and recognition of oil and gas pipeline welds. © 2023 SPIE.

Microgrid (MG) plays a crucial role in developing the modern smart grid. A microgrid can be integrated with renewable energy sources as a practical way to guarantee consumers' supply security. Designing an appropriate protection mechanism is one of the key technical challenges in implementing a MG. The technique must operate in grid-following and grid-isolated modes while still achieving the fundamental protection needs of selectivity, reliability, and sensitivity. Traditional protection solutions are inappropriate for MG due to bidirectional current flow, small fault currents in the inverter interface MG, and variations in their operation methods. Due to the change in the operation method of the MG, the magnitude and direction of the fault current are also reversed, for which conventional overcurrent protection systems perform poorly. For the MG to operate reliably, the fault must be identified and fixed as soon as possible as it appears. This paper suggests a fault detection approach for AC MG using the Transient Monitoring Function Index (TMFI) in a grid-connected mode that detects the fault efficiently. To assess the effectiveness of the recommended methodology, a test IEEE seven-bus MG system is modeled in the Real-Time Digital Simulation (RTDS) framework, and the suggested strategy is evaluated. The interpretation was interpreted in the MATLAB environment. The simulation results confirm the accuracy of the suggested technique. © 2023 IEEE.

Quality assessment is an important part of ensuring the quality and long-term development of machine translation. There is still much room for research into the evaluation of machine translation from Chinese to Portuguese, and no specific evaluation metrics have yet been developed. This study uses the Delphi method and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to construct an index system of Chinese-Portuguese Machine Translation and analyzes the relative index weight. The system includes four first-level indicators and nine second-level indicators. The weight of primary indicators, from high to low, is "Accuracy, fidelity"(52.5%), "Readability"(22.9%), "Fluency"(16.8%), and "Acceptability & Usability"(7.8%). The secondary indicators with the highest weight of each primary indicator are "Correction", "Lexicon", "Readability", and "Utility". AHP was used to transform the qualitative problems in evaluating Chinese-Portuguese Machine Translation into the quantitative problem in order to provide a theoretical basis and practical guidance for the future manual evaluation of Chinese-Portuguese Machine Translation, and for the eventual modification of automatic machine translation evaluation methods. © 2023 IEEE.

The intermittent nature of renewable energy sources may require the integration of an increasing amount of battery energy storage systems (BESSs) in the electrical grid. A BESS can provide multiple services such as frequency regulation and backup. Simultaneously, internet-of-things (IoT) enabled technologies are increasingly being applied in the BESS domain. IoT integration is not supported by any specific regulations with respect to BESS design and operation, which can increase the vulnerability of utility-scale batteries to cyberattacks. Cyberattacks can compromise the ability of BESSs to provide an adequate and reliable response to the system's demand. This paper presents a machine-learning-based algorithm for cyberattack detection that can decrease the vulnerability of a BESS to cyber threats. It utilizes Adaptive Boosting to forecast the state of charge and detect potentially corrupted data. Moreover, this paper presents mathematical models of cyberattacks than can be applied against a BESS, providing frequency regulation. The benefits of applying the novel cyberattack detection algorithm are demonstrated in the example of the simulated dataset. The dataset is generated based on parameters of the largest grid-connected BESS in Denmark as well as real frequency data of the Nordic Region. © 2023 IEEE.

With the development of digital transmission and transformation systems, digital substations have become a prevalent trend in the electric power industry. However, the presence of many electrical components in substation environments with varying textures poses challenges for the reconstruction of a digital three-dimensional model and robot operation. To deal with that problem, this paper introduces the rich line features present in substation environments into the front-end feature tracking of 3D reconstruction in order to improve the accuracy of the 3D reconstruction. The optimized LSD algorithm is utilized for extracting line features in weak texture scenes. Additionally, a line segment merging algorithm is proposed to reduce the rate of mismatched line features and avoid redundancy through the combination of similar or repeated line segments. Finally, the paper presents a novel line feature matching method based on geometric constraints during the stage of online feature matching, which has the ability to improve matching accuracy while decreasing matching time. The experimental results demonstrate that the front-end visual odometer's optimization method proposed in this paper can offer better feature extraction and matching initial values compared to traditional methods for nonlinear optimization of the back-end of 3D reconstruction and loopback detection. © 2023 SPIE.

Monitoring the physical, chemical, biological, and radiological properties of water is the process of figuring out whether it is suitable for a certain usage. Monitoring water quality strives to guarantee that water is fit for diverse applications, including drinking, recreation, and irrigation, as well as that it complies with environmental requirements. The conductivity, oxygen, TDS, turbidity, temperature, BOD, COD, pH and the presence of other pollutants like heavy metals, pesticides, and pathogens are among the parameters that are commonly examined during water quality monitoring. Monitoring water quality is crucial since it can have a negative impact on ecosystems, economy, and human health. Authorities can detect potential sources of contamination through monitoring and take the necessary action to safeguard the environment and the general people. Monitoring the quality of our water supply is essential to ensure its security. In this project, we suggest developing and deploying a LoRa-based system for monitoring water quality, which would allow for real-time monitoring of variables including pH, TDS, and temperature. The LoRa-based Water Monitoring Mote and the LoRa Gateway Mote are the two nodes that make up the system. © 2023 IEEE.

To focus on the problem of low detection rate of metal particles on the inner surface of GIS equipment, an improved Faster RCNN GIS equipment inner surface metal particle target detection network is *** residual network is introduced as the feature extraction network based on the feature of small metal particles on the inner surface, and the feature pyramid network and receptive field block are combined with the residual network,three feature extraction networks, VGG16, ResNet50,ResNet50+RFB-FPN, are used to experimentally compare 2000 metal particle *** results show that the accuracy and recall of ResNet50+RFB-FPN feature extraction network are 97.3% and 83.4%, which are improved compared with both VGG16 network and ResNet50 network. It is concluded that the improved Faster RCNN-based metal particle identification on the inner surface of GIS equipment can meet the requirements of detection accuracy and speed. © 2023 The Authors.

The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics into healthcare has been gaining momentum over the years. However, there is a gap in the understanding and awareness of dental practitioners regarding the use of AI and robotics in dental practice and oral healthcare. This study aimed to evaluate the awareness and understanding of dental practitioners regarding the application of AI and robotics in oral care management. The study was conducted using a self-directed questionnaire on 350 dental professionals aged between 20 to 55 years. The study found that the majority of respondents (59.1%) believed that AI would significantly enhance both dental and healthcare. Additionally, 54.9% of respondents predicted that AI would eventually replace dentists and medical professionals. A significant percentage of respondents (63.6%) agreed that AI could be utilized for 3-D implant placement and scheduling. The findings of this study have several implications for dental practice and education. The study highlights the need for dental practitioners to keep up with technological advancements in AI and robotics to provide the best care for their patients. The findings suggest that policymakers should consider the integration of AI and robotics into the healthcare system to improve oral health outcomes. Further research is needed to evaluate the effectiveness of AI and robotics in dental practice and oral healthcare. © 2023 IEEE.
