A major portion of a power system's total performance and energy loss is attributable to voltage profiles and power losses in electrical distribution networks (DNs). Enhancing voltage profiles and lowering network losses can result in a more efficient power grid. In the literature, reactive power support has been used with a number of devices to improve DN performance. Some examples are shunt capacitor banks, distribution static compensators (DSTATCOM), and universal power quality condensers (UPQC). A solid-state transformer (SST) that can be built to support the grid has recently attracted a lot of attention. In particular, the SST is being looked at as a possible replacement for the more common fundamental frequency transformer. This paper suggests using the SST's stage-I reactive power support (SI-RPS) function to reduce radial DN losses and improve the voltage profile of the network. With the competing goals of reducing network losses and improving the voltage profile, a planning strategy is given for putting SST installations in the right places and at the right sizes. The simulation results verified the viability and rationale of the suggested model and algorithm for the 69-bus rdN. The outcomes of a number of different situations are detailed in this work. The code for solving the mixed-integer non-linear programming model was developed in MATLAB R2020a. Increasing SST deployment demonstrated an improvement in the voltage profile of the network, along with cutting down on losses significantly. © 2023 IEEE.

The proper identification of tissue types during endoscopy may greatly affect both the patient's care and the treatment options that are made, making the categorization of endoscopic bladder tissue a crucial responsibility in the field of urology. Combining handmade characteristics with deep features is the innovative strategy that is presented in this study to improve the accuracy of bladder tissue categorization. To extract handmade characteristics from endoscopic images, the proposed technique makes use of textural feature extraction and the Bag-of-Visual-Word (BoVW) paradigm. This research proposes a hybrid convolutional neural network (CNN) model as a means of further enhancing classification performance. This model takes handcrafted features in addition to CNN-based features as input. This hybrid model is intended to make use of the complementing qualities that both kinds of features possess to provide a depiction of bladder tissue that is more accurate and distinct. During the experimental assessment, the proposed hybrid CNN model is evaluated in comparison to fundamental machine learning approaches as well as alternative deep learning architectures. The findings show that the suggested model can achieve an amazing accuracy rate of 95%, which is higher than the performance of other techniques. This accomplishment demonstrates the ability to integrate handmade cues with deep features for endoscopic bladder tissue categorization. This work has major implications for increasing diagnosis accuracy and the outcomes for patients. © 2023 IEEE.

In India, cervical cancer is the second highest type of cancer in women after breast cancer. Due to few nonspecific symptoms in early stages routine screening by Pap smear of targeted population can be very useful for the early diagnosis of cervical cancer. So, in this paper, a detailed exploration of Recurrent Neural Networks (RNNs) for the classification of cervical cancer cell images. Through meticulous evaluation of learning dynamics, we offer insights into the model’s learning capability, generalization, and potential interventions to optimize performance. The results demonstrate the model’s exemplary accuracy is 97.14% with 100 epochs, highlighting its potential as a robust tool for biomedical image analysis. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

The emergence of the Internet of Energy (IoE) has paved the way for decentralized energy trading, which involves the exchange of energy among prosumers (both producers and consumers) in a peer-to-peer (P2P) fashion. Smart energy meters, which can measure the energy consumption and production of prosumers, play a critical role in IoE-based energy trading. However, the lack of trust and transparency among prosumers and energy traders is a major barrier to the widespread adoption of P2P energy trading. In this context, Ethereum smart contracts can provide a solution by enabling transparent and secure execution of energy trading agreements among prosumers. This paper proposes an energy trading system that leverages Ethereum smart contracts and smart energy meters to enable P2P energy trading in the IoE. This work describes the architecture of the system and the implementation details of the smart contracts used for energy trading. This paper has presented a case pseudo code for an efficient and secure approach to trade energy based on Ethereum. It moved most of the processing and storage off-chain (in opposition to several existing solutions) to minimize the cost of using Blockchain, in terms of gas paid to process and store data related to smart. This was done while keeping the trading process as secure as when all processing and storage are performed on-chain. It also made use of stable coins to overcome the exchange rate instability of cryptocurrencies. © 2023 IEEE.

In the digital data protection, the field of text steganography through image encryption has garnered significant attention. As an essential endeavour, the development of secure and robust methods for digital image watermarking, steganography, and image concealment stands as a crucial response to the need for safeguarding sensitive information while preserving data integrity and quality. The proposed method, named LWT-DCT-SVD, presents an innovative approach by leveraging a cover image and a secret key in conjunction with embedding techniques. This process culminates in the creation of a stego image, enabling the secure concealment of text within it. To unveil the concealed information, an extraction technique is employed, making use of the stego key in combination with the embedding method. This extraction process seamlessly reveals the original secret text, guaranteeing a secure and reliable means of transferring and retrieving confidential information. To gauge its effectiveness, the proposed method is rigorously compared with existing techniques such as DGV, OMP, and FE. Numerical validation highlights its strength, with a high PSNR value of 80.7656 signifying image quality preservation and a low MSE of 0.1780, reinforcing its data security attributes. © 2023 IEEE.

With the remarkable improvement of the Internet, there has been an important flow in technologies like cloud and fog computing. Moreover, it is important to identify the associated issues related to resource allocation and deployment in these technologies. Despite the rapid development of cloud computing (CC), several limitations persist due to inherent features like unreliable delays, limited mobility, and limited support. Fog computing (FC), on the other hand, includes taking the central CC resources nearby to the network edge. It aims to overcome the limitations faced by CC by providing a more distributed method compared to its centralized behavior. The disparities between compute-intensive uses and resource-constrained devices challenge the complete system's performance. Task scheduling (TS) is important in identifying logical inconsistencies in fog technology. With the proliferation of the IoT, efficiently allocating resources to clients upon request becomes a highly challenging task in fog technology. Different authors survey several methods, which are analyzed in brief. Lastly, a study is made by comparing the demerits of each technique, and recommendations are defined for improved TS and RA in fog. In this article, some heuristic and metaheuristic methods are studied, and the hyper-heuristic scheduling (HHS) method is defined to explore the best distribution with minimum execution time. The implemented technique has enhancements in energy, execution time, etc. © 2023 IEEE.

In this study, a novel LLC converter-based battery charger for EVs is presented. With this structure, the major switches may be switched at zero voltage over the whole charging profile. The suggested charger offers a flexible output voltage range suitable for the battery system. Additionally, storage battery-to-battery charging enables the sharing of charge between two batteries if one battery becomes stranded far from a charging station, hence maintaining high-efficiency undercharging. Various types of vehicle-to-vehicle chargers have been examined by researchers. A major drawback of conventional chargers is the inefficiency caused by the several power conversion steps they use. The study describes a DC source to a battery charger that operates independently from the vehicle. In this paper, an attempt has been made to share the power more accurately among two parallel inverters using a droop-based decentralized control scheme. One of the key problems in exact power-sharing using reverse droop controller (P-V/Q-f) is line impedance mismatch. It initiates several issues regarding frequency and voltage deviation, circulating current, PCC voltage instability, etc. To cater to such problems a modified virtual impedance control loop is added to the existing P-V/Q-f control loop. The reverse droop control scheme is used on a system of two DGs with the same line impedances and different line impedances. Equal power sharing is achieved with a system having the same line impedance, whereas the existing reverse droop controller fails in a mismatched line impedance condition. Hence, the failure of the existing controller is compensated by the inclusion of an additional virtual impedance-based control loop. A block diagram model has been constructed in MATLAB/SIMULINK domain. The simulation results show that the proposed controller can accurately share the active and reactive power keeping the system frequency and PCC voltage within the prescribed limit for a load transient condition. © 2023 IEEE.

The images that were obtained when the camera was submerged in water are an useful source of data that can be used to explore hydrothermal vents that are located on the ocean floor and to acquire a better knowledge of the marine life that lives there. Low contrast, colour distortion, and an unpleasant overall visual appearance are three of the most fundamental obstacles that an underwater photograph must overcome. These problems were caused by the dispersion and refraction of light, which occurred as beams of light went from a less scarce substance to a more dense one. When light is dispersed, the difference in intensity between the colours in the scene is diminished. Not only does the existence of dispersion in the water add to the impact that water has on underwater photography, but the presence of living organisms in the water also contributes to this effect. The research is needed to overcome the challenges of underwater photography, such as light dispersion and color distortion, in order to facilitate accurate exploration of hydrothermal vents and marine life on the ocean floor. The main problem addressed in the paper is the degradation of underwater images due to issues like low contrast and color distortion caused by light dispersion. The paper proposes a solution by introducing an innovative combination of adaptive retinal mechanism and bilateral filter, effectively enhancing image quality by mitigating these challenges. This paper implementation processes a picture by making use of an adaptive retinal mechanism in combination with a bilateral filter for the aim of smoothing. This is done in order to get the desired effect. The MSE and PSNR metrics have both witnessed significant improvements in their quality in recent years. © 2023 IEEE.
