A topological relationship is a key factor in the spatial data processing. Aiming at the problem of topological similarity measurement when the dimension of spatial objects changes in the process of map generalization, this paper proposes a topological similarity measurement method based on the global topological concept neighborhood graph. Firstly, all the topological relationships that can be described by the nine intersection model are abstracted, generalized, and classified, and the classified point/point, point/line, point/polygon, line/line, line/polygon, and polygon/polygon local topological concept neighborhood graphs are established. Then, according to the map generalization rules, the mapping between different types of topological concept neighborhood graphs is established, and the global topological concept neighborhood graph is obtained, Finally, the similarity of the topological relationship between different morphological objects is measured. The experimental results show that the proposed method can better meet the topological similarity measurement when the shape of spatial objects changes. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Predictive Maintenance (PdM) aims to detect forthcoming failures in machinery to reduce costs associated with defective products and equipment inactivity. Remaining Useful Life (RUL) estimation is the most common approach in PdM: in this formalization, forecast or regression models aim at predicting the time/process iterations left before machinery loses its operation ability or a failure happens. In the RUL literature, Deep Learning (DL) algorithms are typically the preferred choice because they achieve high performance and can automatically handle the feature extraction phase. Usually, developed DL architectures are application or equipment specific;thus, there is no clear way to select, design, or implement such architectures. However, the research usually does not justify the choice of one architecture over another that may potentially work for the same problem. In addition, many of the reviewed papers do not investigate the computational complexity of these techniques, which is a critical aspect of real-time applications. In this work, we compare the most widely used deep learning architectures for performing RUL estimation in four datasets: two public datasets known in the PdM research community and two confidential industrial datasets. Moreover, we release a library called CeRULEo, to support the research within this field, speeding up the development of RUL models and providing a complete pre-processing pipeline for dataset handling.

We discuss the design and implementation of compact IQ modulators and modulator arrays to be monolithically integrated in the GaAs/AlGaAs material system. Considerations are presented for the design of GaAs traveling-wave electro-optic modulator arrays for space data-link applications. Central to the modulator design is a low loss folded optical configuration giving direct, straight-line RF access at one end of the device, with all fiber-optical ports at the opposite end. This configuration is a critical enabler for the close-packed monolithic modulator arrays needed for multi-channel applications. It also leads to much more compact packaging, improved fiber handling and contributes to high modulation bandwidths with low ripple by eliminating directional change in the RF feed arrangements. Typically, the folded devices are half the length of conventional format modulators and a modest array of devices (e.g. x4) can be accommodated in a package of similar dimensions to a single modulator. Design considerations for arrays of independently addressed MZ modulators (each with its own input fiber) are discussed. Both single MZ and monolithic dual-parallel (IQ) modulators have been assessed up to 70GHz, with bandwidths of 40-50GHz achieved with a low-frequency VS below 3V. A novel integrated RF termination, of especial benefit to a compact array configuration, is demonstrated with return loss better than 12dB to 70GHz. © 2023 SPIE. All rights reserved.

The X-Ray Imaging and Spectroscopy Mission (XRISM) is an international X-ray observatory developed by Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and National Aeronautics and space Administration (NASA) in collaboration with european space Agency (ESA), successfully launched in September 2023. Since the early stage of the project, the XRISM science operations team (SOT) was organized independently of the spacecraft bus system and mission instrument development teams, having prepared for the in-orbit science operations to maximize the scientific outputs. During about half year for the initial operation phase after launch, operations for the mission instruments were started, and the quick-look and the pipeline processes were carried out by SOT in order to check the functions of the instruments. After transition to the nominal operation phase, we started the target observations in the performance verification phase, whose short and long-term observation plans are considered by SOT, including planning the target of opportunity observations. The information on the observation modes of the mission instruments and the status of the data processing is maintained collectively in database synchronized between JAXA and NASA. We also performed the performance verification and optimization activities which provide the well-calibrated data, appropriate tools, and analysis methods for the users and established a help desk that supports the XRISM data analysis. The publicly solicited observation for the guest observer will be started from August or September 2024. These daily science operations are being carried out by dedicated scientists belonging to JAXA in collaboration with the other SOT members, the mission operations team and the instrument teams. This paper will introduce the ground system for the XRISM science operations and report on the activities of the SOT from the launch to today and plans for future science operations.

Spatial modes provide a potential dimension to boost the capacity of free-space optical (FSO) communication systems. Various modal basis sets can be used. For a given aperture size, complete orthogonal modal basis sets can provide higher capacity compared to incomplete modal basis sets, but are more sensitive to FSO channel impairments, such as atmospheric turbulence. In this invited paper, we review our recent progress in using advanced digital signal processing algorithms for the implementation of high-capacity mode-division multiplexed FSO communication systems when employing complete modal basis sets. Besides turbulence, the relatively high inter-mode crosstalk from a commercial multiplexer/demultiplexer has been taken into account. By employing adaptive loading at the transmitter side and/or advanced multiple-input multiple-output detection algorithms at the receiver side, record-high single-wavelength transmission data rates and spectral efficiency have been achieved over both turbulence-free and turbulent FSO links, where all key devices are commercially available. © 2023 IEEE.

As traditional linear models have proved to be ineffective in perspective of the stagnant decision-making and inefficient data federation, the pathway onwards a european data sovereignty dictates for a sustainable and circular economy across diverse market sectors. In this scope, the EU-funded OASEES project has identified the need for a novel, inclusive and disruptive approach regarding the cloud to edge continuum and swarm programmability and also supporting multi-tenant, interoperable, secure and trustworthy deployments. In the present paper we discuss actual challenges for the management and orchestration of edge infrastructure and services to exploit the potential of edge processing. Then we discuss the concept and fundamental features of the OASEES approach together with technology challenges that are to be covered by the intended system development. We also discuss, in brief, a set of several vertical edge applications with significant market impact.

Ground motion and deformation are phenomena that occur globally on both large and small scales. In general, they can be classified into naturally-induced and human-based ground movements. Land subsidence can be related to both seismic/tectonic activities or natural flooding and ground water fluctuations, as well as man-made drivers like socio-economic development factors (urbanisation and population growth), including high-rise and heavy building complexes and increasing amounts of ground water extraction. Due to climate change effects like accelerated sea level rise and extreme weather events, the potential impacts of surface subsidence are being amplified significantly. For many years, InSAR analysis techniques have been identified and recognised as a mature and reliable remote sensing method offering coverage of large areas and the measurement of movements in the range of millimetres. In recent years, research and development in the Earth observation component of the european Union's Copernicus space Programme has addressed SAR technologies and applications, thereby providing continuous progress and achievement that has resulted in operational services based on peer-reviewed feasibility and scientific robustness. The intention of this paper is to present examples of the potential of an operational InSAR Persistent Scatterer (PS) approach, thereby encouraging and promoting the added value for potential down-stream application for detecting silent risks of imperceptible ground motion in urban regions. © 2023 ACRS. Online teaching is a common teaching form at present. In the process of using the online auxiliary teaching system for accounting majors, there is a defect that the memory occupies a large space. In order to solve the above problems, an online auxiliary teaching system for accounting majors based on mobile terminals is designed. Hardware part: The power supply design adopts the form of independent power supply in blocks, and configures the externalmemory interface of C6722B;the software part: builds a database of students' classroom behavior, migrates behavior attribute data, and uses the online teaching platform as a carrier to obtain the teaching objectives of accounting majors. The mobile terminal optimizes the data transmission function of the online auxiliary teaching system. Experimental results: The memory footprint of the online auxiliary teaching system for accounting majors designed this time and the other two online auxiliary teaching systems for accounting majors are: 357.42M, 484.96M, and 486.99M respectively. The online auxiliary teaching system for accounting majors is more suitable for use.

This study utilizes "Al-Wardat’s method for analysing binary and multiple stellar systems" to estimate a set of parameters for the binary system Hip70868. The method compares the system’s observational magnitudes, color indices, and spectral energy distribution (SED) and synthetic SEDs generated through atmospheric modeling of each component. Feedback-adjusted parameters and an iterative approach were employed to achieve the best fit between observational (including the latest measurements of Gaia, release DR3) and synthetic spectral energy distributions. The findings were completed using the distance of 71.89 pc given by Hipparcos 2007’s new reduction. The individual components’ parameters for the system were derived afterward. The parameters obtained for the individual components are as follows: Component A has an effective temperature (Teff) of 6072 ± 50 K, a surface gravity (log ga) of 4.50 ± 0.05, and a radius (Ra) of 1.40 ± 0.07 Ro. Component B has a (Teff) of 5887 ± 50 K, a (log gb) of 4.40 ± 0.05, and a radius (Rb) of 1.326 ± 0.07 Ro. The spectral types of the components were found to be F9 IV and G1 IV, respectively. The findings from this analysis were utilized to accurately position the two system components on the Hertzsprung-Russell (H-R) diagram and the evolutionary tracks. The analysis shows that the components have transitioned from the main sequence to the sub-giant stage of their evolution. © The Author(s) 2025.

To address the challenges of low accuracy and high computational time in 3D point cloud registration, various point cloud registration algorithms have been proposed in recent years. Among these, the gray wolf optimization (GWO) algorithm has gained significant attention for its effectiveness in handling complex optimization problems. However, traditional GWO has limitations in terms of search efficiency and susceptibility to local optima. Therefore, this paper presents an improved point cloud registration method based on the GWO algorithm. The proposed method incorporates Logistic-Tent(L-T) chaotic mapping for population initialization to achieve a more uniform distribution within the search space. Additionally, a nonlinear control parameter strategy is introduced to balance the algorithm's local and global search capabilities. Furthermore, elite backward learning is integrated to enhance the quality of the algorithm's solutions. Finally, the Iterative Closest Points (ICP) algorithm is employed for fine registration. The registration experiments conducted on collected automotive body panel point cloud datasets validate the effectiveness and practicality of the improved algorithm, as demonstrated through comparative analysis with other algorithms. © The Institution of Engineering & Technology 2023.
