We present preliminary results demonstrating that Controlled Area Network bus (CAN-bus) signals can be transported over Optical Wireless Communication (OWC), in the near-infrared region (850 nm). The CAN-bus can not be directly transmitted in free-space and it needs to be adapted. Therefore, we developed a solution that allows the optical transmission of this standard transparently, with no need for modification of the protocol. The proposed system is based on analog components with no need for any kind of Digital Signal processing (DSP), it is realized only using Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) components and has sensitivity consistent with typical intra-spacecraft communication scenarios. This opens the way to move data networks based on CAN-bus from cable to wireless, thus improving integration time, cost-effectiveness, and volume occupancy. The intrinsic security of OWC makes the system robust to any sniffing/jamming attack.

The NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), or NISAR, is an Earth-observing dual-band radar mission being jointly developed by NASA and the Indian space Research Organization (ISRO). As a pathfinder for NASA's Earth System Observatory (ESO), NISAR will make global measurements of land surface changes from its near-polar 12-day repeating orbit, for integration into Earth system models. NISAR measurements will provide scientists with a means of understanding globally, spatially- and temporally-complex solid-earth, cryosphere and ecosystem phenomena, and provide societally-relevant data that will enable investments to protect human life and property. The radar payload system, consisting of a NASA-developed L-band SAR, an ISRO-developed S-band SAR, a deployable 12m radar antenna and a high-capacity data handling and instrument control system, has been fully integrated as a flight system and has undergone extensive testing, from 2020 through 2022. This testing has included acoustic and sine-vibration dynamics and launch-configuration thermal vacuum tests, as well as the first Mission Scenario Tests (MST's) of the payload flight hardware and software with flight-like commanding. Prior to the 2023 delivery of the radar payload to ISRO's U. R. Rao Satellite Centre (URSC), the radar payload will undergo a science configuration (sans radar antenna) thermal vacuum test and a final round of MSTs focusing on joint operation of the two radars and instrument controller fault protection testing. Once at URSC, the radar payload will undergo system integration to the ISRO satellite mainframe bus, and observatory-level testing in Bangalore. Other major systems are also being readied for delivery by ISRO: the satellite bus, ground stations, science data processing systems and mission operations including Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) Mark II launch from ISRO's Satish Dhawan space Centre (SDSC) launch complex. During its 6-year nominal mission, Euclid shall survey one third of the sky, enabling us to examine the spatial distributions of dark and luminous matter during the past 10 Gyr of cosmic history. The Euclid satellite was successfully launched on a spaceX Falcon 9 launcher from Cape Canaveral on 1 July 2023 and is fully operational in a halo orbit around the Second Sun-Earth Lagrange point. We present an overview of the expected and unexpected findings during the early phases of the mission, in the context of technological heritage and lessons learnt. The first months of the mission were dedicated to the commissioning of the spacecraft, telescope and instruments, followed by a phase to verify the scientific performance and to carry out the in-orbit calibrations. We report that the key enabling scientific elements, the 1.2-meter telescope and the two scientific instruments, a visual imager (VIS) and a near-infrared spectrometer and photometer (NISP), show an in-orbit performance in line with the expectations from ground tests. The scientific analysis of the observations from the Early Release Observations (ERO) program done before the start of the nominal mission showed sensitivities better than the prelaunch requirements. The nominal mission started in December 2023, and we allocated a 6-month early survey operations phase to closely monitor the performance of the sky survey. We conclude with an outlook of the activities for the remaining mission in the light of the in-orbit performance.

The process of finding data points, observations, or occurrences that differ from typical behaviour is known as anomaly detection. Time-series data analysis would aid in identifying the root cause of various trends or patterns that have emerged throughout time. This is crucial since the subsequent value in time-series data is dependent on the prior value’s input. Currently, we are detecting anomalies in time-series data with Facebook Prophet, an open-source library for forecasting in R or Python. Prophet is a method for forecasting time series data based on an additive model in which nonlinear trends are fitted with annual, weekly, and daily seasonality, as well as holiday impacts. To find anomalies, this study utilizes the Real Ad Exchange dataset, which displays online advertisement click-through rates, where the metrics are cost-per-click (CPC) and cost-per-thousand impressions (CPM). © 2023, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

With the development of the communication and radar systems, the demand for precisely processing broadband signal has become urgent. The basic functions of filtering and digitizing are often needed together in many applications such as antialiasing and interference suppression in digital receivers. To break the bottleneck of the traditional methods, a recently-proposed simultaneous photonic filtering and digitizing system[1] can achieve analog pre-filtering and digitizing at the same time, and its equivalent system response can be tuned by shaping the optical sampling pulses. However, limited by the dilemma between the precision and duration of the shaped pulses, the bandwidth of the signal processing are constraint. The design rules to achieve precise signal procession are analysed. An optical shaping scheme based on the interference and frequency-to-time mapping is utilized in the system[2], as shown in Fig. 1(a). The response of the OF is $G(\omega)$ , and the tunable delay difference between interference arms is $\tau$ . The dispersive value of the SMF is $\Phi_{v}$ . We introduce a novel grid-independent model for learning partial differential equations (PDEs) from noisy and partial observations on irregular spatiotemporal grids. We propose a space-time continuous latent neural PDE model with an efficient probabilistic framework and a novel encoder design for improved data efficiency and grid independence. The latent state dynamics are governed by a PDE model that combines the collocation method and the method of lines. We employ amortized variational inference for approximate posterior estimation and utilize a multiple shooting technique for enhanced training speed and stability. Our model demonstrates state-of-the-art performance on complex synthetic and real-world datasets, overcoming limitations of previous approaches and effectively handling partially-observed data. The proposed model outperforms recent methods, showing its potential to advance data-driven PDE modeling and enabling robust, grid-independent modeling of complex partially-observed dynamic processes.

System-on-a-chip (SoC) devices promise lighter, smaller, cheaper, more capable and more reliable space electronic systems. This paper describes the focal plane interface electronics - digital (FPIE-D) Xilinx Zynq-based data acquisition, cloud-screening, compression, storage and downlink computing system developed by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), Alpha data, Correct Designs and Mercury Systems for the NASA Earth Surface Mineral Dust Source Investigation (EMIT) instrument. EMIT is an imaging spectrometer that acquires 1280 cross-track by 328 band images at 216 images/sec. Following launch (14 July 2022), EMIT has been installed outside the International space Station (ISS) and is collecting data from science targets in arid dust source regions of the Earth. EMIT will be used to study the mineral dust cycle which has multiple impacts on the Earth System. The science objective of EMIT is to close the gap in our understanding of mineral dust heating and cooling impact on the Earth now and in the future by determining the surface mineralogy of mineral dust sources. The EMIT FPIE-D board design is based on a standard Alpha data COTS Zynq7100 board in an XMC form factor. The FPIE-D Alpha data hardware and components, including a Mercury Systems 440 GByte RH3440 Solid-State data Recorder (SSDR), fit into a 280mm×170mm×40mm assembly. The FPIE-D peak power usage is 40 W. The computing element is a Xilinx Zynq Z7100 which includes a Kintex-7 FPGA and dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 Processor [7]–[9]. The COTS board was re-spun to make it suitable for space (replacing components with space grade equivalents) and to add features needed for the mission. The FPIE-D board is designed to be very flexible, and not specific to EMIT mission. The FPIE-D assembly with its Zynq SoC controls the other assemblies on the EMIT instrument. In light of recent advancements in Internet of Multimedia Things (IoMT) and 5G technology, both the variety and quantity of data have been rapidly increasing. Consequently, handling zero-shot cross-modal retrieval (ZSCMR) of unlabeled multi-modal data has emerged as a prominent research topic. Early models utilized generative adversarial networks and class embeddings to assist in building a common feature space. However, this approach resulted in a loss of reliability in the feature distributions of individual modalities. In this paper, we propose a method called Ranking on Heterogeneous Manifold (RHM) to address the aforementioned issue. Our model comprises three feature extractors, each dedicated to extracting features from text, images and multimodal data. Subsequently, the relationship structures derived from these feature extractors are employed to construct a heterogeneous manifold. A diffusion process is then conducted on this heterogeneous manifold, ultimately yielding the final ranking scores. Comprehensive experiments demonstrate that the proposed modal has the capability to acquire more effective knowledge representation, thus enhancing the effectiveness of ZSCMR.

In the last decade an impressive technological progress has been made towards the miniaturization process. Nowadays, structures with nanometric size are produced and integrated in different devices and applications, exploiting new light-matter interaction phenomena happening at this scale. One interesting material in nanotechnology is silicon. Nonlinear silicon photonic devices can emit light, modulate signals electro-optically and process data at speeds higher than electronic chips, and they are highly compatible with CMOS technology at low cost.
