The diversion of Mississippi River water through the Bonnet Carré Spillway (BCS) into Lake Pontchartrain and its subsequent eastward propagation, has triggered harmful ecosystem impacts to the Mississippi Sound and adjacent waters [1]-[4]. A previous study has shown that the BCS flow may reach as far as Mobile Bay [5]. The Main Pass, which serves as a prominent channel for Mobile Bay allows the water exchange process between the bay and the inner shelf of Mississippi Bight. Examining the water circulation system through this inlet is important to gain more understanding of the interactions of BCS operation with the ecosystem function in Mobile Bay. For this purpose, a 400 m resolution, 24-layer Coupled Ocean Atmosphere Wave Sediment Transport (COAWST)-based circulation model of the MS Sound/Bight region (msbCOAWST), which resolves the complex estuarine/inner shelf exchanges that are prevalent throughout the region, is employed. Specifically designed bathymetry for the studies in the Gulf of Mexico is used as model input along with atmospheric and river forcing. Furthermore, lateral forcing is employed from the regional Gulf of Mexico application of the Navy Coastal Ocean Model (NCOM). Model solutions show a consistent result with the water level and temperature observation from NOAA Stations. The impact of BCS openings to Main Pass exchange system is investigated through the parameter of salt and volume transport. Twin experiment is designed to include both BCS and river forcing and river forcing alone into the hydrodynamic model. In general, the volume transport pattern in the Main Pass shows an association with the meridional wind (north-south wind) and river discharge pattern. Net water volume export from Mobile Bay through Main Pass is observed, however, the estuarine circulation return flow at depth through Main Pass acts to accumulate salt content inside Mobile Bay. When we attempt to describe an ecommerce data, we usually visualize it in the form of name value pairs. Every item is identified and defined by a set of specifications that it gets associated with. When a key gets its specifications, it gets attributes to get compared with. A recommendation system can always look for similar specifications before making one. The data of a person or a place is limitedly seen as a name value pair. Sites like Wikipedia address a few characteristics of a personality in associative pairs and others mostly as textual description. Through this research, we propose a model to build a name-value pair for the people and place data. We design a model which first captures all the basic data of different eminent personalities and observes through the common pool of specifications. After having a common set of specifications, data is crawled and parsed from Wikipedia to complete the missing entries. Thus forms a PD-Box, box data visualization for people and place data. This data set representation can be used in processing engines to compare and evaluate recommendations to combine people and place with every other entity data. The results presented appear to be promising to combine this model with processing and search engines. The model uncovers and unwraps hidden meaningful data about people and place which can be an insightful direction for research and data structuring.

Immersive Analytics(IA), has been broadly used as an emerging technology in fields including Flow Field, Network visualization, Volume visualization, etc. The interaction methods are categorized into handle device and non-contact gestures, etc. In non-contact gestures, the peculiar attributes of the domain data and the subjective factors of the developers cause some variation in gesture actions across data domains. Through our investigation, we believe that there exist generic features of gesture actions across domains, including rotate and move gestures bound by interaction paradigms. Therefore, we proposed a generic model of non-contact gesture interaction to ensure data domain independence; we anticipate that the model can be efficiently adapted to multiple types of data domains in IA. We presented a gesture comfort evaluation model with micro-expressions to develop a gesture action set, introduced a gesture interaction design based on WYTIWYG (What You Touch Is What You Get) concept, defined a generic gesture interaction mechanism to prevent functional dependency, and implemented a non-contact generic gesture action paradigm for immersive environments. Subsequently, we recruited 30 participants to evaluate the three cases and recorded their micro-expressions. Finally, the micro-expressions were analyzed and a questionnaire survey was performed; the outcomes of the micro-expressions assessment were further cross-validated with the gesture evaluation model to confirm the validity of the proposed general model.

Our work explores the use of extended reality (XR) to improve scientific discovery with numerical weather/climate models that inform Earth science digital twins, specifically the NASA Goddard Earth Observing System (GEOS) global atmospheric model. The overall project is named the visualization And Lagrangian dynamics Immersive eXtended Reality Toolkit (VALIXR), which has two main areas of focus: (1) enhancing the understanding of and interaction with model output data through advanced visualizations in the XR environment, and (2) the integration of Lagrangian dynamics into the GEOS model, which allows a natural, feature-specific analysis of Earth science phenomena as opposed to traditional, fixed-point Eulerian dynamics. Here, we report initial work on these focus areas.

Neuromorphic vision sensors (event cameras) are inherently suitable for spiking neural networks (SNNs) and provide novel neuromorphic vision data for this biomimetic model. Due to the spatiotemporal characteristics, novel data augmentations are required to process the unconventional visual signals of these cameras. In this paper, we propose a novel Event Spatio Temporal Fragments (ESTF) augmentation method. It preserves the continuity of neuromorphic data by drifting or inverting fragments of the spatiotemporal event stream to simulate the disturbance of brightness variations, leading to more robust spiking neural networks. Extensive experiments are performed on prevailing neuromorphic datasets. It turns out that ESTF provides substantial improvements over pure geometric transformations and outperforms other event data augmentation methods. It is worth noting that the SNNs with ESTF achieve the state-of-the-art accuracy of 83.9% on the CIFAR10-DVS dataset.

Digital displays are often used to visualize timesensitive, safety-critical data for aviation, automobile, medical, nuclear, and other applications. Such displays represent a potentially dangerous point of failure, because even partial failure or obstruction of such a display (e.g., failure or obstruction of the left-hand side) may result in some or all safety-critical data becoming unreadable. Here, a novel automatic method for dynamically detecting and overcoming certain types of display obstructions or failures is presented. Our method works by displaying machine-readable codes on the display, using a camera to determine any regions in which the codes are not readable (i.e., non-functioning or obstructed regions of the display), and shifting / scaling the visualization to ensure that all safety-critical data is presented only in the functioning, visible regions of the display.

Sun and shade are two sides of the same coin. In this work we explore the use of the built-in light sensor in mobile devices to collect lux readings and extrapolate the presence or absence of shade along routes in communities. This work presents an end-to-end system for gathering lux readings, transferring the data to a cloud database, and detecting shaded regions. Detected shaded regions are visualized as a shade map to provide insightful to improve the coverage and distribution of shade.

Real-time telemetry-based, 3D situational-awareness visualizations for deep space and earth-orbiting missions have proven to be vital during all mission phases from project formulation, mission development, design, verification, through post-launch operations. These visualizations play key roles in sending flight system health and status to engineers and communicating mission goals to stakeholders and the public. This real-time telemetry-based visualization technology has been used for many previous NASA/JPL missions including Mars 2020, Mars science Laboratory (MSL), Low-Density Supersonic Decelerator (LDSD), NASA's Soil Moisture Active Passive (SMAP), Galileo, and many NASA/JPL robotic systems research and development projects. Despite the number of missions that use these visualizations to carry out mission operations, there currently exists no multi-project environment. The current development model of building new and unique telemetry visualization software systems for each new mission is extremely cost-ineffective. In this paper, we, from JPL's Mission Control Systems Section, introduce Theia, our multi-project space mission telemetry-based visualization system which we offer as a low-cost, easily configurable, multi-project system inspired by our recent work on the Entry, Descent, and Landing (EDL) sequence for the Mars 2020 Perseverance Rover mission. The Theia telemetry visualization system is an end-to-end solution that listens to a real-time telemetry or simulation data source, processes, packages, and streams that data through secure WebSockets to multiple simultaneously connected web browser clients executing our TheiaJS 3D visualization engine. TheiaJS presents the data to the user through an interactive 3D interface, extendable as required by individual missions. We describe Theia's complete system design and architecture, the construction and rendering of a flight-system Digital Twin, and the data pipeline needed to accurately and continuously update

Spatia1 data volumes have grown exponentially alongside the proliferation of sensing equipment and networked observational devices. In this study, we describe our framework aQua for performing visualizations and exploration of spatiotemporally evolving phenomena at scale. We validate our ideas in the context of data from the National Hydrology database (NHD) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to support longitudinal analysis (53 years of data) for the vast majority of water bodies in the United States. Our methodology addresses issues relating to preserving interactivity, effective analysis, GPU accelerated visualizations, dynamic query generation, and scaling. We consider optimizations and refinements at the server-side, client-side, and how information exchange occurs between the client and server-side. We report both quantitative and qualitative assessments of several aspects of our tool to demonstrate its suitability. Finally, our methodology is broadly applicable to domains where visualization-driven explorations of spatiotemporally evolving phenomena are needed.

Blockchain technology has attracted significant industry, academic, and governmental attention since its emerged in 2008. Blockchain use cases are now being explored by traditional, transaction-oriented businesses in the finance, insurance, logistics and healthcare sectors to name a few. This has expanded further with the widespread use of Internet of Things (IoT) devices. Massive amounts of data are generated by IoT devices and are recorded in the blockchain. While blockchain provides many advantages, such as immutability and transparency, its serialized nature makes impossible to read in a single query. Multiple requests are required even for simple tasks, such as displaying an account's transaction history. This further leads to the difficulty in understanding the data in the blockchain. In this paper, we address the problem of smart contract visualization in a real-time manner. To this end, we design a visualization dashboard for smart contracts. A visual aid for massive amounts of data helps users understand the blockchain's overall activities, uncover operational risks and provide critical intelligence by visualising unusual activities and connections. Such insights may enable the user to investigate and predict any anomalies or reveal any network vulnerabilities. Cattle farm selected as a use case because the voluminous data can be acquired from IoT sensors on the farm cattle. Our dashboard has been proven to help visualize the life cycle of animals, the distribution of activities and time factor analysis. This visualization can give a user a better perspective of the token functions and results as well as animal management issues.
