With the rapid development of IoT applications, how to process large and continuous data streams in real time for IoT applications has become a challenge in recent years. This paper presents a model to predict the Maximum Sustainable Throughput (MST) of data streaming applications at the edge, and then proposes GACP, a constraint programming-base operator placement strategy to maximize MST using the genetic algorithm. We evaluated the proposed operator placement strategy in terms of MST, the number of edge servers in usage, and the percentage of communications within edge servers. Experimental results show that compared with the existing heuristic algorithms, the proposed GACP strategy can achieve better MST, which is 2–5 times higher than existing algorithms. © 2023, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Existing satellite constellations typically lack on-orbit processing capabilities, and on-orbit data backhaul face to reliability and effiency challenges. Tiansuan constellation is with the capability of providing satellite edge computing services, which can support complex data coding transmission methods. To effectively support effective data backhaul for existing satellite constellations, we propose a reliable data transmission service in Tiansuan constellation. The service adopts the adaptive coding transmission strategy to adjust the optimal size of the encoded data packet according to real-time satellite network conditions. An adaptive encoding transmission approach is proposed to reduce end-to-end delay. Experimental results based on the ground simulation platform demonstrate that the proposed method can effectively reduce end-to-end delay and improve effective data transmission rate. © 2023 IEEE.

The accurate profile of learners on the online platform based on data analysis refers to the comparison of users with certain behavioral characteristics and existing in the database and not discovered, and then determine the potential interests and concerns of the group based on this information, and recommend specific groups or products for them to meet the needs of users. Accurate profiling based on data analysis refers to the comparison of users with certain behavioral characteristics that do not exist or have not been discovered in the database to determine the potential interests and concerns of this group, which can provide a basis for recommending specific groups of people and products. First of all, this paper studies the data analysis technology, mainly expounds the data preprocessing, data visualization, behavior image processing and xAPI research, of which xAPI is a standard for collecting and storing data, mainly referring to data preprocessing and mining, statistical analysis, etc. Secondly, the characteristic analysis of the online learning platform is carried out, and finally the accurate portrait of online learners based on xAPI is constructed. © 2023 IEEE.

Aiming at the problem of difficult accurate differentiation between public transportation and private cars in current research, a station matching algorithm based on mobile phone signaling data is proposed to address issues such as low frequency and unstable collection frequency of mobile phone signaling data, and low positioning accuracy. The algorithm utilizes the average speed between neighboring base stations that the user's phone is connected to during travel to infer the traffic status of a road segment. By comparing the average speed of the road segment with the median average speed of the entire trajectory, the algorithm determines whether the road segment contains important traffic nodes, such as bus stops or intersections, and calculates the station density of the entire trajectory to further verify the results predicted by the existing classification model. Experimental results show that the algorithm can significantly improve the identification accuracy of buses and private cars. Compared with using machine classification methods alone, the accuracy has increased by 11%, reaching 94%, which can provide strong support for the collection and analysis of traffic information. © 2023 SPIE. The housing provident fund system has provided tremendous assistance in helping provident fund users take out loans for home purchase services since its inception. Currently, as digitalization and information technology continue to strengthen, the country emphasizes the need to use digital technology (e.g., big data, artificial intelligence, etc.) extensively in government management services and to drive innovation in housing fund management, service, and supervision. Profile and recommendation technologies were mostly used in the field of financial technology, such as e-commerce platforms and commercial banks, but we innovatively apply the big data profile and artificial intelligence recommendation methods in the provident fund. We propose a multi-dimensional profile model based on the big data from the Housing Provident Fund Center and establish a housing profile labeling system to help the center in digital management better. At the same time, based on the two-tower neural network collaborative filtering algorithm, we built a housing recommendation model based on the past purchase transaction history, which can be used to improve the digital service level of the center. After experiments, our model is much more accurate than the compared traditional collaborative filtering algorithms. Through our study, the Housing Provident Center can enhance digital management techniques, improve service level, and promote intelligent government construction.

Cloud storage service enables users not only to save their local data storage costs but also to access their outsourced data at any time and anywhere. Traditionally, a data owner outsources the encrypted data to the cloud server and then checks its integrity with the help of cloud auditing strategies. Obviously, in such a manner, only confidentiality and integrity are considered following the above two independent steps. Furthermore, it becomes an issue that the data owner may want to share their outsourced data with some authorized data receivers and convince them that the data are from and the same as the data owner's. To solve this issue, absorbing the advantage of the certificateless cryptosystem, we propose an efficient certificateless proxy re-signcryption (CLPRSC) for data access control in cloud computing. Moreover, the CLPRSC possesses ciphertext verifiable, convertible, and designated re-signcryptable properties with the highest efficiency among the achievable signcryption with proxy re-encryption schemes, which may be of independent interest. © 2024 SPIE.

Neural networks and other advanced image processing algorithms excel in a wide variety of computer vision and imaging applications, but their high performance also comes at a high computational cost and their success is sometimes limited. Here, we explore hybrid optical-digital strategies to computational imaging that outsource parts of the algorithm into the optical domain. Using such a co-design of optics and image processing, we can learn application-domain-specific cameras using modern artificial intelligence techniques or compute parts of a convolutional neural network in optics. Optical computing happens at the speed of light and without any memory or power requirements, thereby opening new directions for intelligent imaging systems. © 2023 SPIE.

A significant challenge for today's companies and organizations that rely on technology is detecting events in their ever-increasing complexity. The present paper discusses the various event extraction algorithms in the intelligent IoT (Internet of Things) system. The various detection problems in IoT systems have been addressed with different approaches. A systematic representation of IoT event detection models is presented in this survey as rule-based, semantic, simulation, and machine-learning based-models. This paper emphasizes the benefits of using appropriate IoT features for change detection using an event extraction approach. The main directions of current research in event detection methods are defined for single and sequenced events. © 2023 IEEE.

High-energy large-scale particle colliders produce data at high speed in the order of 1 terabytes per second in nuclear physics and petabytes per second in high energy physics. Developing real-time data compression algorithms to reduce such data at high throughput to fit permanent storage has drawn increasing attention. Specifically, at the newly constructed sPHENIX experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC), a time projection chamber is used as the main tracking detector, which records particle trajectories in a volume of three-dimensional (3D) cylinder. The resulting data are usually very sparse with occupancy around . Such sparsity presents a challenge to conventional learning-free lossy compression algorithms, such as SZ, ZFP, and MGARD. The 3D convolutional neural network (CNN)-based approach, Bicephalous Convolutional Autoencoder (BCAE), outperforms traditional methods both in compression rate and reconstruction accuracy. BCAE can also utilize the computation power of graphical processing units suitable for deployment in a modern heterogeneous high-performance computing environment. This work introduces two BCAE variants: BCAE++ and BCAE-2D. BCAE++ achieves a better compression ratio and a better reconstruction accuracy measured in mean absolute error compared with BCAE. BCAE-2D treats the radial direction as the channel dimension of an image, resulting in a 3 × speedup in compression throughput. In addition, we demonstrate an unbalanced autoencoder with a larger decoder can improve reconstruction accuracy without significantly sacrificing throughput. Lastly, we observe both the BCAE++ and BCAE-2D can benefit more from using half-precision mode in throughput ( increase) without loss in reconstruction accuracy.
