Recent breakthroughs in geometric deep learning (DL) and the availability of large computer-aided design (CAD) datasets have advanced the research on learning CAD modeling processes and relating them to real objects. In this context, 3D reverse engineering of CAD models from 3D scans is considered to be one of the most sought-after goals for the CAD industry. However, recent efforts continue to make multiple simplifying assumptions and applications in real-world settings remain limited. The SHARP Challenge 2023 aims at pushing the research a step closer to the real-world scenario of CAD reverse engineering through dedicated datasets and tracks. In this paper, we define the proposed SHARP 2023 tracks, describe the provided datasets, and propose a set of baseline methods along with suitable evaluation metrics to assess the performance track solutions. All proposed datasets(1) along with useful routines and the evaluation metrics(2) are publicly available.

Abstract thinking is required in a wide variety of disciplines. It is of special importance in engineering, where examining many topics at different detail levels is needed. However, the literature implies that the abstract thinking of beginning students is insufficient. In light of the above, the research aimed to assess the abstract thinking of beginning electrical engineering and computer science students. The study used closed and open-ended instruments, and involved 64 undergraduate students at the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology. According to the findings, the average abstract thinking of the participants is moderate, with no significant difference between the two groups of students.

The lesson unit consists of two lessons applied by flipped learning style, in which students first watch on-demand video lectures to acquire basic knowledge of network theory and technology, then they do hands-on activities using some web tools that we developed to consolidate the knowledge. The questionnaire results after the CS0 course where the lesson design was applied suggested that the hands-on activity was effective in improving the understanding of network and security.

The current distance teaching method is mainly to complete the explanation of basic knowledge by recording course video, students' autonomous learning or with the help of remote communication function. It is difficult for students to fully mobilize their enthusiasm, resulting in poor teaching effect. In order to alleviate the problems of inapplicability and poor teaching effect when the current distance teaching method is applied to welding processing course, this research designs a distance teachingmethod of welding processing course for mobile learning platform. According to the characteristics of mobile learning platform, the communication path of distance teaching of welding processing course is determined. Then formulate the 5E Teaching Mode and design the teaching process of the course distance teaching platform. Finally, collaborative filtering algorithm and firefly algorithm are used to recommend personalized mobile learning resources for students and generate course learning paths. The experiment shows that after applying this method, the average score of students is improved by about 9.2%, and their learning enthusiasm is significantly enhanced.
