The digitalization is trending globally and automation and wireless connectivity are gaining ground and unprecedented. The major goal of automation is to reduce the human interaction to barest minimum. The implementation of smart homes with the utilization of IoT is aimed at bringing the home appliances into control remotely. Smart home is one of the major break-through in the area of automation. This work will x-ray different applications of IoT with special focus on smart homes using Blynk IoT framework. To achieve this, the NodeMCU development board which embedes the ESP8266 microcontroller is programmed to interact and communicate with the relay module and some sensors, utilizing the android app and Blynk platform as interfaces. The integration of these different systems precipitates a seamless control and monitor over appliances like lamps, socket outlet and so on. © 2023 IEEE.

automation systems are everywhere in the workplace, the house, or any sizable sector. Recent automation innovations are also being implemented by hotels and restaurants, which have robots that deliver meals and iPads for taking orders. Customers may easily choose the items using electronic menu cards, which resemble tablets. The presentation of this information will be sent to the restaurant's kitchen. The touch screen or display is primarily kept at the customer's end for different uses, including the menu display. This is coupled with an Arduino Uno to process and communicate the data via an R.F. transmitter to the consumer. The Arduino Uno is interfaced with an R.F. receiver and other parts to process the data received at the kitchen end. The monitor or any comparable display device shows the data. In this way, the old menu and order system is effectively replaced with a computerized one at the kitchen end. © 2023 IEEE.

The convergence of the automotive industry and the metaverse has led to the emergence of vehicular metaverses. The vehicular metaverses act as a bridge connecting the physical and virtual space to offer immersive metaverse experiences to Vehicular Metaverse Users (VMUs). However, the movement of vehicles and the limited service coverage of Roadside Units (RSUs) require the migration of Vehicle Twins (VTs) to ensure uninterrupted immersive experiences for VMUs. This migration process involves RSUs contributing resources to facilitate efficient VT migration. Moreover, a single RSU is insufficient for supporting large-scale VTs migration. To address these challenges, we propose a coalition game approach framework for reliable VT migration in vehicular metaverses. Firstly, we calculate the reputation values of RSUs. To calculate the reputation values of RSUs based on the subjective logic model, we incorporate a time attenuation factor to account for the freshness of their interactions with VMUs. Based on the reputation values of RSUs, we formulate a coalition game where RSU coalitions are formed to collectively provide bandwidth resources for reliable and large-scale VTs migration. Then, the selected RSU coalition can serve for several VTs migration at the same time. Numerical results demonstrate the reliability and effectiveness of the proposed schemes. © 2023 IEEE.

The facial age estimation is an important task for efficient human-robot interaction. A supervised similarity learning has not been widely adopted to a facial age estimation and is still a challenging task. In this paper, we propose a multi-scale similarity learning model which is able to jointly learn similarities between multi-level age features extracted from three different images: an input, a sample with same age named positive and a sample with contrary age named negative. The idea behind using the multi-level feature extraction is to make our feature similarity learning model robust to scale invariance of individual images. As is known, the quality of images in datasets for age estimation vary considerably and deep-learning based networks are often sensitive to image quality and resolution. On that account, we employ a multi-scale feature extraction structure to our model and prove its ability to extract reliable features for a similarity learning. Experimental results show that the proposed approach outperforms previous research and provides a new state-of-the-art age estimation accuracy of UTKFace and CACD benchmark datasets for age estimation. © 2023 ICROS.

This article studies the architecture and deployment of a digital twin system for intelligent substations. Firstly, the development status of smart grid digital twins was investigated and summarized from typical architectures, key technologies, and application directions. Then, based on modern information technology, we proposed the architecture and deployment method of the intelligent substation digital twin system. The proposed system consists of a data collection layer, a model driven layer, and a twin application layer, which respectively elaborate on the specific content and advantages, and supplement the complete deployment method of the system. The intelligent substation digital twin system effectively promotes the digitization and intelligence of substations, providing a new construction and management mode, and has potential application prospects in promoting equipment status perception, deterioration trend analysis, and fault handling in the power industry. © 2023 IEEE.

In order to effectively implement the national strategy of building a 'transportation powerhouse', improve the operation, maintenance and management efficiency of the subway depot. This paper designs an intelligent control system for subway depots. With digital twin technology as the core, BIM technology as the support, and BIMFACE platform as the carrier, the system has built an intelligent maintenance platform for the depot. In addition, this paper proposes for the first time a digital twin six-dimensional model based on digital twin technology that integrates data processing. The platform can be deployed in three ways: web, PC, and mobile. Taking a subway depot as an example, the study demonstrates that the digital twin model can be effectively applied to the actual management of the depot and improve the operational efficiency. © 2023 IEEE.

The proposed authentication and key exchange protocol for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)are based on a combination of elliptic curve cryptography, symmetric cryptography, and blockchain technology. The protocol, called Blockchain-based Lightweight Authentication and Key exchange Protocol, aims to provide secure and efficient communication between the UAV and the ground station while minimizing computational costs and reducing the risk of cyber attacks. The elliptic curve cryptography is used for key exchange, symmetric cryptography is used for message encryption and decryption, and blockchain technology is used to store and distribute the public keys. The proposed protocol is evaluated through simulations and equated with current protocols. The outcomes show that the protocol has lower computational overhead, better security, and is highly resistant to attacks due to the use of blockchain technology. This makes the proposed protocol a suitable solution for secure communication in UAV applications. The paper builds on previous work such as DroneSecand DroneSec - lite, which is also based on elliptic curve cryptography and symmetric cryptography, but with a focus on lightweight authentication and key exchange protocols for UAV systems with varying computational capabilities. © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper, we proposed E2DSNeRF, a new image-based method that is highly suitable for 3D reconstruction of wind turbines. Specifically, considering the smooth and textureless characteristics of wind turbine blades that can lead to blurring and ghosting, we use event cameras with high dynamic range and low latency instead of regular RGB-D cameras to capture images of wind turbines. Then, compared to the dozens of images required by the vanilla neural radiation field method NeRF, we used very sparse input views, which greatly reduced the burden of image acquisition and preprocessing. In addition, the use of deep supervision not only improves the rendering quality of sparse input views, but also eliminates blurring and ghosting caused by low textures on wind turbine blades. At the same time, in order to obtain a more accurate camera pose, we added necessary feature points to the background when collecting the wind turbine dataset to ensure that the camera pose obtained by COLMAP is sufficiently accurate. Due to sparse input views, our method has significantly improved training speed compared to NeRF. The experimental results demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of this method, which has lower cost and clearer reconstruction results compared to traditional methods. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.
