Prediction problems for complex systems have been of wide interest. Since the input features of such problems often contain both qualitative and quantitative variables, it is not possible to preprocess the features by conventional methods. Moreover, due to the complexity of the problem, using only a single model for prediction may lead to insufficient accuracy. In this paper, a prediction model for multiple feature-type problems based on an improved PSO-RBF neural network is designed, in which qualitative and quantitative features are processed separately. The qualitative features are first screened using information gain and then the quantitative features are downscaled using factor analysis. After processing the features, they are predicted using improved PSO-RBF neural network. The results show that the resulting optimal SSE is 77136 and the prediction accuracy is high. © 2023 IEEE.

The Abstract thinking is the capability to deal with relevant information for a given phase while temporarily disregarding the irrelevant details for the current step. Abstract thinking is required in a wide variety of disciplines. It is of special importance in engineering, where examining many topics at different detail levels is needed. However, the literature implies that the abstract thinking of beginning students is insufficient. In light of the above, the research aimed to assess the abstract thinking of beginning electrical engineering and computer science students. The study used closed and open-ended instruments, and involved 64 undergraduate students at the Technion - Israel Institute of technology. According to the findings, the average abstract thinking of the participants is moderate, with no significant difference between the two groups of students.

Business process automation has been gaining more and more space in the management of organizations, since it translates into a reduction in the execution time of routine tasks in an organization, freeing up employees for other more creative and interesting tasks. However, it is important to check what types of processes are eligible, benefits, and challenges in the adoption of RPA technology. Robotic Process automation (RPA) is a growing trend in business process restructuring, combined with digital transformation. This technology can be applied in various areas of business processes, and by organizations from any sector of activity. This work, through a literature review, aims to clarify the RPAs concept, the benefits found in this adoption, the main characteristics that the processes must have to be eligible, and the main barriers encountered for successful RPA adoption. In short, this preliminary literature review aims to contribute to the organizations clarification of RPA adoption. © 2023 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.

The widespread use of Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) highlights the need for autonomous docking, during which accurate pose estimation and navigation play a vital role. This paper proposes a multi-sensor fusion navigation framework based on the factor graph optimization method, integrating tightly-coupled visual information from the light array to provide high-accuracy and high-frequency relative pose estimations between AUV and its mobile dock at the terminal docking stage. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm outperforms PnP and achieves smaller RMSE in relative attitude and translation estimations. Furthermore, the experiments show that the proposed algorithm provides smoother estimation results and that it has the potential to be deployed in embedded applications. © 2023 IEEE.

Penetration testing is a method to assess the security within a network by performing or simulating a real-world cyber-attack on the network. It has been one of the best ways preferred by organizations to strengthen their network defenses against cyber threats. However, penetration testing proves that it has several drawbacks such as requiring a significant number of skills and time to perform. A survey made by The international Information System Security Certification Consortium also shows that the world is lacking cybersecurity workforces. To address this problem, this paper conducts research regarding the usage of machine learning to automate penetration testing activity. To start off, automated penetration testing tools will be created using machine learning algorithms, specifically reinforcement learning and deep reinforcement learning algorithms. The second step is to put the tools in a learning stage where it will be provided with the MITRE ATT&CK Framework. This framework will be the base for the attacks and exploitations used within the tools. The third step is to conduct a series of automated penetration testing over different target networks. The result will be then compared and analyzed with a manual penetration testing report to see how efficient and better it is compared to a manual penetration test. Lastly, the final data will then be collected for future developments and recommendations. © 2023 IEEE.

Since the declaration of the concept of technology, it has been mankinds' ultimate motive to make human work easier. There has to be minimum physical effort that humans have to put in in order to accomplish both daily and complex tasks. automation is one of the key concepts that has replaced the existing workforce with machinery. Smart home automation systems aim to bring the technology of automation to homes. It has replaced the concept of switches, circuit boards and brought the technology in the hands of the user in literal sense. The system can obtain commands and instructions from the user directly through voice automation systems and perform tasks like dimming the lights and turning on the fan with minimal to no physical effort at all. Smart home automation systems aim to bring the idea of automation to a comfortable workspace where people can control their surrounding devices from their mobile phones. In this paper, we have reviewed various different technologies which are used in order to accomplish a safe and fast network in which the devices can communicate with each other. There are various different ways of doing the same thing and this paper reviews multiple ways in which the smart home automation system can work to provide the best results with minimum constraints. © 2023 IEEE.

Numerous studies have been done on the effects of weather, human activity, and topography on wildfires, but systematic research into the relationship between wildfire characteristics and air pollution concentration is still lacking, particularly in light of China's site scale and recent comprehensive environmental pollution control. In order to show the wildfire-air pollutant properties interactions between 2019 and 2020, we employed a spatial interpolation technology to create a data sets of wildfire properties and pollutants that are spatially matched across China. Wildfires in China have decreased significantly due to air pollution, with a strong positive correlation between Fire Count (FC) and Carbon Monoxide (CO). However, in the northeastern and northern regions, the correlation is negative. Ozone (O3) impacts Fire Radiative Power (FRF) negatively, except in a few regions. As altitude increases, air pollution concentration affects wildfire properties. Identifying the connection between wildfire and air pollution properties is crucial for effective control. © 2023 IEEE.

With the rapid development of computer vision and natural language processing, there is an increasing demand for cross-modal retrieval (CMR) from users. The domestic operating system, openKylin, plays a key role in promoting domestic operating systems. It enriches the operating system functions with secure and trusted operation technology as the core. It is of great practical significance to integrate the field of computer vision into the domestic operating system. A graph retrieval method based on OpenKylin is proposed to enhance the functionality of searching graphs using text. This paper begins with a review of relevant domestic and international research on this technology. It then provides details on the design and implementation process, and concludes by demonstrating the final implementation results. The actual operational results demonstrate that the method is characterized by both high performance and high accuracy. © 2023 IEEE.

In the coming years, the demand for IoT devices connecting our homes, cities, and industries will grow significantly. We now inhabit a world where interconnected smart devices can be controlled through single commands, fostering an era of automation, particularly in smart homes. IoT is at the forefront of this transformation, with many of these devices relying on machine learning models to decode data and make accurate predictions. However, as the number of connected devices escalates, network congestion becomes a challenge. To address this, incorporating machine learning intelligence into edge devices is essential. Edge computing, which involves processing data closer to its source, reduces latency and enables faster analysis. Consequently, IoT data can be gathered and processed at the edge, reducing the reliance on cloud-based solutions. Yet, deploying machine learning models on small IoT microcontroller units presents memory and computation constraints. This paper introduces a deep learning model for driver engagement recognition in real-time video streams, alongside optimization techniques for deployment on edge devices like Nvidia Jetson. The goal is to facilitate the execution of machine learning models on compact, low-power integrated circuits, addressing this critical bottleneck. © 2023 IEEE.
