SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) refers to the robot in the unknown environment through the sensor to detect the environment, and combined with its own movement to gradually build a map of the environment, and in this process to determine its own posture information, that is, positioning and map construction at the same time, is a more complex coupling problem. With the development of artificial intelligence and computer technology, there are a rich variety of solutions to the problem of simultaneous positioning and mapping of mobile robots. Firstly, the basic classification and principle of the existing SLAM scheme are introduced, and the laser SLAM is used as an example to detail the basic working framework of the system. Then, the mainstream laser and visual SLAM algorithms are described, and the current application and future development trend of SLAM are analyzed. © 2023 SPIE. All rights reserved.

With the general trend of informatization, the importance of handwritten Chinese characters is gradually being ignored. Due to the differences in the education levels and the writing habits of the public, problems such as confusion of stroke order, distorted fonts, and wrong postures for holding the pen always exist. Whether from the perspective of cultural inheritance or practicality, the learning of handwritten Chinese characters is an indispensable and important link in contemporary education. In this project, we hope that by introducing artificial intelligence and computer vision technology, we can monitor and guide students' writing ability from the two aspects of pen grip posture and stroke order detection. The VGG16 Model was utilized to implement the function of pen grip posture classification. For the recognition of stroke order, it is hoped that a single Chinese character can be recognized first through real-time pen writing trajectories, so as to further perform the stroke extraction. CRNN (Convolutional Recurrent Neural Network) + CTPN (Connectionist Text Proposal Network) were applied for Handwriting Chinese characters recognition. SiamRPN++ model was implemented to track the pen tip region in the writing video, and through pen ballpoint detection and pen up/down classification, to achieve stroke segmentation of a single character. While in the last algorithm, the strokes would be classified as horizontal, vertical, oblique upwards, and oblique downwards according to the absolute value of the slope, and a length threshold and finally achieve the correctness judgment. © 2023 IEEE.

Credit card theft is on the upswing as technology advances. Also, it may be appealing that as global communication advances, economic fraud is sharply rising. Millions of dollars are lost every day due to these frauds, according to records. master card fraud states to the somatic forfeiture of the master card or defeat of profound master card information. For detection, a variety of machine learning methods are frequently utilized. This study presents a few of the algorithms that will be used to catalogue connections as faithful or fraudulent credit cards. The study used a dataset for fraud detection. Sorting and searching were utilized for oversampling because the dataset was quite unbalanced. NFC technology is decisive for user re-authentication as integrates the Internet of Things for double transaction verification to reduce fraudulent transactions, Random Forest, Bayesian Network, and Multilayer Perception were the strategies adopted in the experiment, including feature selection and dataset division into training and test data. Results show that every technique is regularly and reliably used to spot master card fraud. © 2023 IEEE.

The conventional single-point diamond turning of tungsten carbide has low efficiency and serious tool wear. Therefore, in this paper, a self-designed in-situ laser-assisted turning device was used to machine tungsten carbide, and the effects of spindle speed and laser power on the machined surface quality were investigated in the machining. The experimental results show that the machined surface quality becomes better as the spindle speed increases, and the laser-assisted turning can improve the machined surface quality, but the excessive laser power will cause surface damage and tool wear. © 2023 SPIE.

To get the 3D coordinates and sizes of multi-scale obstacles, we propose an unsupervised and scalable late sensor fusion method using pseudo point clouds obtained from the stereo camera. In order to obtain high-quality depth maps and point clouds, we first perform various preprocessing and postprocessing on them, such as Speckle filter, probabilistic denoising, etc. Then we propose a multi-scale method for the problem of different ground heights and different scales of point cloud clustering. In addition, we also utilize an RGB monocular camera aligned with a stereo camera for late sensor fusion, which enables partially unlabeled point cloud obstacles to be assigned to a category. Our experimental results show that the proposed system achieves superior results on mobility scooters and electric wheelchairs without requiring a lot of computing resources and equipment costs. © 2023 IEEE.

Diseases like cancer which are life-threatening needs accurate diagnosing techniques at a very early stage. This research work is focused on identifying one such technique for identifying breast cancers at a very early stage. This work focuses on employing radiology images of breast mammograms using a transfer learning technique, which is a very powerful deep learning technique that has proven to produce excellent results on computer vision projects. As medical data are very sparse and difficult to obtain transfer learning technique is employed where the knowledge gained through a previous task could be transferred to a new task of a different domain. Breast mammogram images were taken from the publicly available Mini DDSM Dataset which consists of breast mammogram images in the Medio Lateral Oblique (MLO) and bilateral Cranio Caudal (CC) views of both thebreasts. Three experiments were performed on the dataset to demonstrate the effectiveness of the technique by choosing three pre-trained models VGG19, ResNet 50, and Xception and the results were compared. The overall performance of the pre-trained models was found to be elevated due to the deployment of a Logistic Regression (LR) classifier. VGG19 pre-trained model proved to produce the topmost result of 88% accuracy on both the training as well as on the validation datasets. The other two pretrained models exhibited a slightly lower performance of ResNet50 with 80% and Xception with 79% accuracy. © 2023 IEEE.

At present, the methods to realize real-Time transmission of ground information and data by remote fire command center and to plan the artillery path with minimum cost have their own advantages. In order to improve the combat ability of far-fire strike and joint operation, a heuristic search algorithm of far-fire, A* path planning algorithm, is proposed here. The Air Force acquired real-Time geographic information and data of the combat area through remote sensing technology, and then rasterized the acquired real-Time map and transmitted it to the ground remote fire command center. Firstly, the cost of each node is calculated by this function. Second, every point that can be reached after the function is evaluated, and then the search begins. When searching, always select the point around the current location with the lowest traffic cost to expand, and finally generate a path with the lowest traffic cost. This method can make full use of the advantages of joint operation and show excellent performance in solving the optimal path when the environment information is known. © 2023 IEEE.

Weld defects produced by welding will destroy the quality of products. The visual detection method of weld seam using artificial neural network has been applied in industry, but few researchers have established a method to measure the shape of weld seam. In this paper, a feasible scheme based on image processing and artificial neural network is proposed, which not only detects the location of weld defects, but also measures the geometric dimensions of welds. The effectiveness of the method was verified by testing on the self-built dataset and the average accuracy of the size measurement reached 95.9%. © 2023 IEEE.

To improve the prediction accuracy of water quality indexes such as BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) in wastewater treatment process, a novel soft sensor modeling method based on support vector machine (SVM) is designed. The Gaussian kernel function is configured for the proposed method, and the grid search method is combined with K-fold cross-validation to search the optimal values of Gamma and C parameters, thereby improving the prediction accuracy of the proposed model. Finally, the method is tested by using the production data of wastewater treatment. The experimental results show that the proposed model has high prediction accuracy, which provides an effective method for guiding practical production. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper presents the design, implementation and validation of a novel fitness mobile application called CalAid, aimed at promoting an active lifestyle, in the context of ever growing sedentarism in population of all ages. The application uses sensors present in most modern smartphones such as motion sensors, the 3-axial accelerometer, the gyroscope and the step counter in order to track energy expenditure and to obtain a more precise approximation of consumed calories. By using machine learning we can recognize the activities performed by the application client and, using metabolic equivalents, find the energy expenditure. © 2024 The Author(s).
