Hierarchical Federated Edge Learning (HFEL) is a promising and efficient framework, providing privacy preservation, which aims to address the issue of limited resources and network congestion by utilizing the available resources in the edge network. This paper proposes a new scheme, HFEL-Q, based on HFEL to address the high energy consumption problem of FL training, as well as the inherent communication and user heterogeneity problems. To improve training performance, a utility function is designed based on users' learning quality and training time to efficiently select the user group with the highest utility. Additionally, a frequency determination method is employed to optimize idle time and reduce energy consumption during training. Finally, the performance of HFEL-Q is evaluated on two real datasets to demonstrate its superiority over state-of-the-art baselines in terms of training rate, accuracy, and energy savings. © 2024 SPIE.

Software quality assurance is a crucial process that ensures software products meet specified requirements and quality standards. Achieving an exhaustive test coverage is essential for quality assurance, particularly in complex and dynamic Process-Aware Information Systems (PAIS) built upon the Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN). Manual testing in such systems is challenging due to many execution paths, dependencies, and external interfaces. This paper proposes a model-based testing strategy that uses BPMN models and build specifications as input to generate a Robotic Process automation (RPA) script that automates a comprehensive User Acceptance Test procedure. Leveraging on Robotic Process automation (RPA) to automate user interactions allows for reducing the need for testers to manually input PAIS-related information when handling user forms. In modern wireless communication systems, the nonlinear region of power amplifiers severely affects communication quality. Digital predistorters have become vitally important at the front end of power amplifiers to counteract this nonlinear distortion and improve communication quality. We introduce a variable step-size LMS algorithm founded on the absolute inverse hyperbolic tangent to identify system parameters for the indirect learning structure of a predistortion model. We also compared the performance in terms of convergence time and output signal quality among the least mean square (LMS) algorithm, variable step-size least mean square (VSSLMS), and other algorithms. In the experiments, we utilized a predistortion model with a 64-QAM signal and memory polynomial. Experimental results showed that, compared to the conventional LMS and VSSLMS, the improved AHTVSSLMS algorithm significantly enhances the convergence, tracking performance, ability to suppress spectral spreading, and linearization effect in predistortion identification. © 2023 IEEE.

A new fiber was designed and synthesized by using 2, 5-dihydroxyterephthalic acid instead of terephthalic acid as monomer in the structure of Polyp-phenyl dioxazole (PBO) fiber and introducing homophenic acid as the third monomer. The fiber has a network structure due to the introduction of homophenic acid as the third monomer, and the introduction of two hydroxyl groups on the p-benzene group, which effectively improves the compressive strength of the fiber. This work includes synthesis route, characterization of intermediates by NMR spectroscopy and infrared testing of prepolymers. On the basis of maintaining the excellent properties of PBO fiber, the fiber can effectively increase the compressive properties of PBO fiber and further expand the application prospect of PBO fiber. © 2023 SPIE.

This paper addresses the intelligent detection problem of distinguishability between actuator faults and false data injection attacks (FDIAs) in cyber-physical direct current microgrids (DC mGs). The dual-observer detector comprising the unknown input observers (UIOs) and the Luenberger observer (LO), is developed to address the challenging issue of detecting mixed faults and attacks in a traceable manner. Specifically, the UIO incorporates the neighboring state augmentation and fault/noise coupling information, thus enabling detective capabilities for FDIAs. Conversely, the LO integrates the neighboring state error and local output collections, thus focusing only on fault detection. Additionally, residual-based detection metrics for distinguishing attacks and faults are devised by using residual decomposition and root mean square-based residual evaluation. Simulation results are conducted in cyber-physical DC mGs to validate the effectiveness of the proposed dual-observer-based intelligent distinguishable detection algorithm. © 2023 IEEE.

Modern financial systems, despite their inherent complexity and resiliency, face formidable challenges in terms of openness, efficiency, and security. Among these are significant transparency gaps and impending security vulnerabilities, highlighting the imperative need for innovative solutions in today's financial transactions. This paper unveils a meticulously developed financial distribution system rooted in a consortium blockchain, harnessing the complete spectrum of Hyperledger Besu's complex features. At the core of the system is the smart contract, which is more than a transactional instrument;it is a custom-tailored solution designed to enhance transactional processes, maintain data integrity, facilitate rapid execution and ensure strict regulatory compliance in the dynamic financial distribution environment. The exhaustive analysis illuminates the indispensable role of consortium blockchain, highlighting their unrivaled potential for delivering a tightly regulated, industry-specific environment. In terms of throughput and latency metrics, Hyperledger Besu outperforms conventional blockchain frameworks, according to rigorous testing and empirical analysis. These results conclusively demonstrate Hyperledger Besu's capability of navigating high-frequency financial transactions with reduced computational strain, firmly establishing it as the preeminent platform for developing cutting-edge financial applications. This exhaustive study not only highlights the transformative potential of Hyperledger Besu in modernizing legacy financial infrastructures but also establishes a rigorous benchmark for the academic and industrial communities. © 2023 IEEE.

In navigation and deep-sea exploration, the long baseline system with the utmost accuracy in hydroacoustic positioning technology has been widely utilized. Currently, the most widely used long baseline positioning systems internationally operate between 8 and 30 kHz with a maximum distance of 10 kilometers. With the rapid growth of deep-sea exploration, traditional underwater long baseline positioning systems are progressively unable to meet the requirements of deep-sea exploration. Therefore, this paper proposes a long baseline system with a acoustic ranger at its core, a 25-kilometer operational range, and a low and medium frequency. © 2023 IEEE.

In order to improve the performance of traditional SOM model, an adaptive SOM neural network algorithm is proposed. By introducing the error square sum solution formula, the clustering error of the model sub-data set is calculated by using the method of cutting the data set, and the change trend of the clustering error is quickly obtained. Then the learning rate of the SOM network is adaptively adjusted according to this, and the convergence speed is accelerated on the basis of ensuring that the network is fully trained, thereby improving the performance of the SOM network. © 2023 SPIE.

Cryptographic functions with low differential uniformity have wide applications in cryptography and cyber security. In this paper, we further investigate c-differential uniformity proposed by Ellingsen et al. (IEEE Transactions on Information Theory. 2020, 66(9): 5781-5789). Specifically, two classes of power functions with low (1)-differential uniformity over finite fields with odd characteristic are obtained. In addition, a class of permutation polynomials and P1N or AP1N functions over F3n are proposed. These functions with low c-differential uniformity are utilized to resist against c-differential attacks in cyberspace from those with the usual low differential uniformity. © 2023 IEEE.
