This paper addresses the challenges posed by faults in the complex systems of autonomous vehicles within vehicle platoons. It presents a state-space model tailored for vehicle platoons, incorporating an Unknown Input Observer (UIO) to estimate internal states for each vehicle. By monitoring discrepancies between measured and estimated states, the framework effectively detects faults affecting a vehicle's position, velocity, and acceleration, often stemming from malfunctions in its control and navigation components. The paper also introduces fault detection and identification UIOs to pinpoint faulty parameters and estimate associated fault inputs. To validate its effectiveness, the proposed method undergoes MATLAB simulations across diverse scenarios, confirming its capability to mitigate faults within the vehicle platoon. © 2023 IEEE.

In the era of automation, there has to be a way to improvise online assessment. This paper has demonstrated a methodology to enhance the online assessment with the help of an Eye Tracker. That has the ability to categorize the behavior of the participant with the state of the art proposed within the paper. Compared with the traditional assessment, here with the help of this model, an automated feedback sentence is returned along with the score. This adds an advantage to the assessor for fair score awarding. The model has utilized an open-source eye tracker tool to capture eye movements during the assessment. Thereafter a customized classification model is used to provide the relevant keywords, out of which the sentence will be generated using a Deep Learning model. © 2023 IEEE.

The article analyzes modern computing devices that perform multiplication operations. The main classes of multipliers built on the basis of both electronic and optical elements are considered. The main disadvantage of these devices, which negatively affects their performance, is the inability to carry out parallel calculations with them. In turn, this disadvantage is due to the fact that multiplication of the multi-bit binary number in general is carried out by calculating the partial products of the bits of the multipliers and their addition with the inevitable implementation of a corresponding, usually very large, number of transfers. The presence of a large number of transfers fundamentally does not allow solving the problem of increasing the speed of calculations. The developed optical binary digital-to-analog multiplier is devoid of this drawback. This optical digital-to-analog multiplier is implemented on the basis of optical splitters, optical couplers and optical banners with a well-developed technology for their manufacture today, which provides a minimum delay time of the optical signal (in the picosecond range). The functional diagram of the proposed optical digital-to-analog multiplier is shown and the principle of its operation is described. The possibility of increasing the speed of this optical digital-to-analog multiplier to the potential for optical information processing circuits is shown. © 2023 IEEE.

Mobile devices (MDs) cannot fully run all computation/delay-sensitive tasks due to their limited computing resources. Mobile edge computing (MEC) meets the demand by providing massive resources for MDs and offloading task partitions to MEC servers. However, task offloading also brings communication delay and energy consumption. Therefore, it is challenging to associate resource-constrained MDs with appropriate MEC servers to minimize power consumption. To address this problem, a constrained mixed integer nonlinear program is formulated to optimize the total energy consumption of the system including MDs and MEC servers. To solve this problem, this work designs an improved meta-heuristic optimization algorithm called Self-adaptive and Multi-population Differential Annealed Optimization (SMDAO). Experimental results demonstrate that compared with its two state-of-the-art peers, the proposed SMDAO yields the best solution with the smallest total energy consumption in the least time. © 2023 IEEE.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) is a well-established standard for an evaluation of vulnerability criticality of Information and Communication technology (ICT) infrastructure. An analysis was performed aimed at selected vulnerabilities, considering their base score, temporal score, reporting and exploit availability through time. Data obtained using publicly available sources, including National Vulnerability Database (NVD), ExploitDB and AttackerKB, reports and social media posts, were analyzed using a dedicated python application. Obtained results contribute to the basic research seeking to establish automated temporal score calculation that allows to assess the likelihood of exploitation for a given vulnerability. © 2023 University of Split, FESB.

In recent years, there has been an intense interest in extracting knowledge from Business Process (BP) execution data provided by Information System (IS). In this area, a set of Process Mining (PM) approaches has been developed. While such conventional PM approaches aim to extract hand-crafted features from the event log, the Deep Learning (DL) models are used to automatically extract the features from the input data. Whereas, the graph representation is the advanced and powerful input format for these DL models. This paper focuses on the pre-processing data representation stage as a starting step for the application of any Machine Learning (ML) technique (process discovery, anomaly detection, classification, recommendation, ldots etc.). This phase aim to represent the BP event-log data transitions as Behavior Graphs (BG). This BG constitutes the backbone of our perspective hierarchical DL framework's based feature extraction and which allows to learn the unified execution of the process hidden behind the event-log data trace's. © 2023 IEEE.

The ability of a computer to recognise and interpret handwritten input is referred to as "handwritten text recognition,"proving an intangible ability for artificial intelligence (AI). The documents could be in the form of a scanned handwritten text or a photograph of a handwritten note that has accuracy issues from the start of the handwriting recognition process. The major problem is the availability of a wide range of handwriting that may be good or bad. The computer needs to be trained with enough examples, but when it comes to accuracy, it becomes challenging due to characters with similar looks. Further, if the letters are all connected, it also makes it hard for a computer to recognise accurately. In the case of a photograph of handwriting, if the angle is changed, it would result in obscure characters that would be harder for a computer to recognise. There is a lot to learn for a computer, so artificial intelligence comes into play, which allows the computer to learn over time and adapt its output. The computer can recognise hastily scribbled text and normal handwritten letters, which greatly improves the accuracy and ability of the system. © 2023 IEEE.

Although deep neural networks perform well on many individual tasks, they suffer from catastrophic forgetting when learning new tasks continually. Recently, various continual learning methods have been proposed, and some approaches based on replaying memory data achieve promising performance. Maximally Interfered Retrieval is a strong replay-based baseline, however, exists class interference due to class imbalance and lacks the ability to generalize to the real class-incremental scenario. In this paper, aiming at these problems, we design Class cumulative Classifier to replace the shared output layer of the original network, which makes it closer to practical applications, and Class balanced Buffer to address the class imbalance of stored samples. In addition, we propose Retrospect strategy to further improve the accuracy. Experimental results on benchmark datasets show that our method outperforms several strong baselines and is more suitable for complex datasets with more classes. © 2023 Technical Committee on Control Theory, Chinese Association of automation.

The emergence of blockchain technology has revolutionized the financial landscape, giving rise to decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms that offer novel ways for individuals to participate in the financial ecosystem. One of the fundamental components of DeFi is the staking mechanism, which enables users to lock up their cryptocurrency assets to support network operations, secure the blockchain, and earn rewards in return. Staking in the context of DeFi involves participants, commonly referred to as "stakers,"contributing their tokens as collateral to validate transactions and secure the network. This mechanism enhances the security and decentralization of the blockchain while offering stakers an opportunity to earn passive income. The core mathematical equation governing the staking mechanism determines the stakers potential rewards and the parameters that influence them. At its core, the equation involves variables such as the staked amount, the total staked value in the network, the inflation rate of the native token, and the staking duration. By manipulating these variables, stakers can project their potential earnings and optimize their staking strategy accordingly. © 2023 IEEE.
