This paper introduces a 3D soft carbon electrode array, fabricated through a one-step laser-induced process integrating a water-dissolvable polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) mask. This approach achieves precise conical microstructures and robust conductive channels using hybrid MWCNT@PDMS conductive paste. The soft carbon electrode sites with a 3D conical microstructure are designed to enhance proximity to neural tissue, thereby enhancing electrocorticogram (ECoG) signal quality and enabling effective neural stimulation. The electrode array demonstrates remarkable stretchability (25% over 1,000 cycles without failure) and stability (equivalent to 66 days in vivo). Compared to conventional materials, our electrodes exhibit superior electrochemical properties, including lower impedance (9.7 kΩ at 1 kHz) and higher signal-to-noise ratio (SNR, 61.7 dB). Thus, this one-step process is a cost-effective, scalable solution for recording and modulating central or peripheral neural tissues. © 2025 IEEE.

This work is intended to present a nested Photonic Crystal Fiber (PCF) for OAM mode propagation. The proposed PCF comprises of a dense flint SF6 and a very light flint LLF1. The finite-element method (FEM) is used for the modal analysis to obtain propagating HE/EH modes. The proposed fiber has shown flat dispersion during the propagation of multiple orbital angular momentum (OAM) modes. Furthermore, the designed PCF’s nonlinearity (gamma) and confinement loss (CL) are calculated to prove the practical feasibility of the design. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Railway master data is crucial for ensuring consistency and accuracy across information systems. As railway informatization progresses, the types and volumes of data have rapidly increased, making traditional master data management methods increasingly inadequate. On the other hand, the railway industry has high demands for data processing speed and security. Therefore, effectively managing high-value data that is reused across different business domains is key to improving the efficiency and safety of railway systems. This study proposes a new master data management technology by combining advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain technology to address the pain points in railway master data management. Experiments show that applying this framework can intelligently identify and classify complex business data, effectively supporting dynamic updates and intelligent governance of master data. © Beijing Paike Culture Commu. In this paper, the solar-powered grid-connected electric vehicle charger is proposed in which charger is supported with synchronizing switching control in which the automatic disconnection is done without any disturbance and a DC link voltage regulation strategy is also used. This paper presents the hybrid model of PV/battery storage systems (BESS), and its smoothening control method for this DC converters with bidirectional current-control strategies is used to reduce the fluctuations in power. Two DC-DC converters are used;one is connected at PV side for obtaining the regulated boost voltage from PV, and another is bidirectional DC converter across BSSS to maintain the load bus voltage as well as to perform the charging and discharging operation of BSSS with fluctuating PV output. In designing of DC converter, tuning of L and C are the key feature. In this study, we propose a digital watermarking scheme with quick response (QR) codes for authenticating image fidelity. We hide an image hash value in a QR code as a watermark and then embed the watermark using our robust digital watermarking scheme. The proposed scheme takes advantage of QR codes for error correction. Using a QR code as a watermark can decrease the error rate after watermark extraction from an attacked image. To protect the content of images, we perform the perceptual hash algorithm for evaluation. The values of the perceptual hash algorithm can be stored in QR codes. Therefore, perceptual hash values are secured, even when the watermarked image has been damaged. Using perceptual hash values, we can determine the difference between the attacked and original images. A construction safety report is crucial for reducing the accident rate in this complex and dangerous working area. With deep learning-based computer vision applications, many computer vision techniques, such as object detection, image segmentation, and semantic segmentation, are utilized for recognizing hazards. However, there is a lack of research on identifying hazards from a natural language processing and computer vision perspective. Visual question answering (VQA) and the segmentation model can fill the gap in this challenge. VQA is a vision and language model that can infer safety violated rules based on the input image. In addition, segmentation models can be applied to automated segmenting objects that are relevant to the violated rules. From that, an end-to-end automatic safety report system is developed. In this research, we proposed a novel approach that combines VQA and the segmentation model in a construction safety report system. First, the large "scenario-questions" with 200,000 images and 16 questions are created based on a public segmentation dataset. Then the vision-and-language transformer model is trained and validated. Next, the segmentation model is utilized for postprocessing to explain the reason for hazard inference and increase baseline model accuracy. As a result, both the VQA and segmentation models showed robustness in validation accuracy and can be considered as a robust approach for safety management and monitoring in construction sites. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

In several applications where exact computation is not essential, approximate computing is a developing paradigm for sacrificing computing accuracy to save energy and simplify design complexity. This brief presents a low-power, low-area approximate multiplier with a new compressor design. The proposed multiplier handles the component that is least crucial as a fixed compensating term. The second half features a carefully considered hardware–accuracy trade-off that is tremendously powerful. Efficiency is provided. The proposed multiplier is simulated using CADENCE with 18 nm FinFET technology. Compared to the current approximation designs, the proposed design 1 significantly reduces transistor count by 2.05% and power on average by 1.9%, and the proposed design 2 significantly reduces power on average by 3.9% and transistor count by 9.51%. As a result, these designs can be an efficient replacement for exact multipliers in real-world applications that are error-tolerant. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

For sensitive images, e.g., military and medical images, traditional digital image watermarking methods are insufficient to realize effective protection. The original image is distorted due to traditional digital image watermarking methods embedding a watermark into it. We suggest a method for generating a zero-watermark image that is robust and uses discrete wavelet transform and singular value decomposition techniques. The Arnold transform is used in the zero-watermark generation and verification phases to enhance the security of the proposed method. The feature image of the original image is extracted after normalization and then frequency transformed. Various attacks were evaluated to determine the robustness of the proposed method, and the experimental results indicate that it exhibits good robustness against most attacks. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

In recent decades, the concept of sustainability has taken on a key role in the agendas of political decision-makers, businesses, and society. Brands have incorporated attributes associated with the concept of sustainability, making it essential to understand how these attributes are perceived and how they influence purchasing decisions. Young consumers tend to be well informed about social and environmental aspects and are more sensitive than previous generations to environmental issues. Although Gen Z’s purchasing intentions are influenced by the sustainable practices of organizations, their preferences are not fully understood. Recent studies have shown that the sustainability component associated with the brand influences Gen Z’s purchase intentions, and that social and economic aspects are at the root of this, emphasizing the importance of corporate social responsibility and transparent brand communication in terms of sustainability. Understanding how the sustainability component of brands influences the purchasing decisions of young consumers is fundamental for defining future branding strategies. The aim of this paper is to describe the state of the art of the relationship between the sustainability component of the brand and the purchase intention of Gen Z, based on the literature. This study presents the meticulous construction of a robust experimental system framework based on a hybrid blockchain network, designed to meet the experimental needs of federated learning research. The framework leverages TensorFlow Federated (TFF) to facilitate the optimization and substitution of federated learning aggregation algorithms and the development of reputation and contribution systems. The hybrid blockchain network architecture within this framework combines the advantages of public and private blockchains, capable of processing public transactions and managing private data. An innovative data encryption and access control mechanism has been implemented, ensuring data privacy and security. Performance optimizations, including the acceleration of block production speed and database query optimization, have been carried out to enhance system efficiency. This article provides a comprehensive deployment of the framework and an analysis of its components, offering a foundation for further research. With the evolution of federated learning and blockchain technology, the proposed experimental system framework is expected to have broader application prospects and research value.
