This paper presents an extension of a hybrid method for modelling Fuzzy cognitive Maps (FCMs), which combines human expert knowledge with existing recorded information and historical data. The proposed approach at first step extracts information from any type of dataset, extracts useful information and transforms it into knowledge in a form suitable to stracture a FCM. The proposed approach is still dependent on experts' knowledge but it support them by providing the information and supportive data inferred from the dataset. Moreover, the approach highlights, through a supportive numerical example, that experts' knowledge and information from the dataset cannot be considered separately, since their combined use compensates possible errors in knowledge. In particular, it can be used to model a complex Decision Support Systems, and it also allows to identify the accuracy of the considered models.

The huge amount of data collected everyday for different purposes by a multitude of smart devices enables the delivery of added-value services to end-users by means of smart applications. Among them, the applications devoted to optimizing the energy consumption through smart power grids are gaining more and more attention due to their impact on both the environment and the costs for the users. The design and evaluation of Smart Energy systems is very complex due to the heterogeneity of involved devices and technologies, and to the high variability of energy production and consumption profiles. In this regard, in this paper we propose a model-based methodology for the evaluation of Smart Energy systems, which merges system modeling and cognitive computing techniques to obtain a representation of the systems' behavior that takes into account a data-driven characterization of the workload and of the overall context. Such a representation allows to estimate properties of interest in different operative conditions, and can be profitably used to make design choices and to tune the application behavior during operation based on collected data. In order to demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposal, we present an example Smart Energy system modeled by means of the Stochastic Activity Network (SAN) formalism, and we show how it is possible to perform several analyses on the system configuration by means of model simulations.

The concept of complex Event Processing (CEP) is excessively utilized to detect bearable knowledge from the implicit data flow. CEP has stood out as a consolidating scope for the application of scientific knowledge that needs processing and linking raw sensory data. In this paper, we offer an innovative method of CEP in order to reach a mature level of processing patterns or events depending on the cognitive computing. The cognitive Knowledge-based Event (CKE) model is an event processing and identification approach with cognitive aptness. There is a mounting necessity for methodologies to provide an interactive response for data and events stream around us at the time that CEP approach has scarcity in some scopes. We integrate cognitive reasoning with CEP and put forward the concept of classification by our proposed model and we test this method on the multidimensional Big data set captured during thirteen years of the Cassini-Huygens space exploratory project. There is a pivotal necessity to develop an identification and training method for all scales in any functional systems that include a part of cognitive reasoning and learning process.

With the development of information technology, network technology, Internet technology, cloud computing technology and so on are more and more widely used in various industries. The traditional industrial automation hierarchy structure is complex and the integration degree is not high. It can not meet the development needs of informationization and intelligence, and is limited by the site infrastructure. Therefore, this paper designs a remote online acquisition and monitoring system architecture for intelligent workshop based on OpenStack private cloud computing, which completes the functions of data acquisition, online monitoring, database management and real-time control. In addition, this paper also considers the characteristics of the system architecture, such as filing, disaster tolerance and security. Using OPC UA protocol and Modbus RTU protocol to complete data acquisition, data interaction between the bottom of the factory and the bottom of the enterprise. At the same time, cloud computing data center centralized storage and management of the collected data, which provides great convenience for the follow-up analysis of large data in the workshop, and has a certain practical value.

Many tasks of complex data relation mining in social networks, bioinformatics and cognitive radios usually involve a process of enumerating maximal bicliques from a relationship graph which is generally represented by relation matrix. Currently most of researchers focus on the enumerating maximal bicliques from a large static graph which keep unchanged through the process of enumeration in big data mining But in most situations, the graph will be dynamically changed since either vertices or edges of the graph will be removed or updated to reflect corresponding change in a real world. Therefore, it is impossible to employ those traditional techniques for static graphs to dynamically changed graph mining. For this reason, we propose an efficient algorithm to enumerate maximal bicliques in a dynamically changed graph. In this paper we assume that the edges of the graph will be dynamically reduced. For this scenario, our algorithm need not to repeat the enumeration on the whole graph, but only to iteratively search the new maximal bicliques based on the result before the graph is changed. In paper, we show the rightness of our methods and perform simulations which demonstrate high efficiency.

Wireless sensor networks (WSN) function in ISM (Industrial Scientific and Medical) band undergoes unlimited interference problem due to overcrowded sensor nodes and also, it consumes large amount of energy to transmit data. To make an effective use of the spectrum more efficiently cognitive Radio technology is integrated to Wireless Sensor Networks. The so-called cognitive radio and wireless sensor networks together form a new terminology known as cognitive radio sensor networks, thereby utilizes the spectrum more efficiently by accessing licensed channels. However, in order to support cognitive radio (CR) such as channel discovery, switching and accessing licensed channel in wireless sensor networks makes the task more complex since CRSN utilizes more energy. In pursuance of a solution to the existing, this work has devised a new mechanism by effectively accessing the channel in CRSNs, to improve the energy utilization. Based on the cognitive radio functions and capability, this work has further investigated that when the nodes should shift the channel i.e. from licensed band to ISM band for improving the energy efficiency, in accordance with the packet drop measure of the license-free channel. This work has proposed the effective channel accessing and switching mechanism for data transmission within a cluster and outside cluster in CRSN. The simulation results of the proposed algorithms show that reduction of energy utilization in CRSNs. © 2018 ieee.

Enterprise Architecture (EA) description frameworks embody a "worldview" which is used by architects to conceptualize the enterprise and its elements. This "worldview" manifests itself in the choice of language constructs and in modeling rules and guidelines, and, whether explicitly or not, reflects some foundational ontological choices. This paper reflects on the practical consequences of some of these choices. We focus on the capability-related elements in EA defense frameworks (DoDAF, MODAF and NAF). In particular, we analyse the support for modeling capabilities in these frameworks from the prism of a fundamental distinction in formal ontology: two-category vs. four-category ontology. By analyzing the current choices in these frameworks and identifying some adverse consequences, we are able to suggest well-founded recommendations for improvements.

data acquisition system is a key instrument to convert analog signals to digital signals in geophysics. To match high resolution sensors in seismometers systems, high resolution analog-digital conversion (ADC) is deployed in data acquisition system. Classical high resolution ADC models are based on architecture of Σ-Δ oversampling or pipeline ADC architecture separately. Those ADC architectures have following problems: increase power consumption, reduce linearity of modulators, depend on design of complex circuit, and the resolution is not easily regulated. To solve those problems and promote resolution of ADC, a novel architecture design is presented, which design principle is based on mathematical formulations combined advantages both previous pipeline and oversampling ADC architecture. A simple and mathematical combined ADC analysis model is presented. Using this model, this paper analyzes theoretically the various sources of noise of the adverse effects of the whole ADC architecture. Based on an assessment of noise simulation algorithm, an amended theoretical model is proposed. The results represent that noises level of integrator and subtractor in first level of combined model determine the whole performance. By controlling the noise level from these two components to less than 10 -7 V/√Hz, the resolution of whole data acquisition system can achieve reservation resolution of 150 dB.

cognitive assistants bring new opportunities to strengthen the coupling of data, information and knowledge aiming to collective intelligence. This technology can boost decision making on complex issues, such as Sustainability and Bioeconomy on agricultural production systems. However, the design of collaborative systems that explore cognitive assistants is an open research question. This challenge deals with meaning interpretation and involves semantic formal models to represent, in a systemic view, knowledge related to the structures, competencies, responsibilities, policies, and culture of a production system. In this paper, we propose a design framework for the development of solutions based on cognitive assistant technology. This framework contributes to a novel view of the design process by integrating a method for modeling complex system with formal semantic models, collective intelligent systems, and cognitive assistant development technologies. A scenario in a sugarcane production system illustrates the proposed framework. © 2018 ieee.

Deep learning has been applied to learn and classify brain disease using volumetric MRI scans with an accuracy approaching or even exceeding that of a human expert. This is typically done by applying convolutional neural networks to slices of a 3D brain image volume. Each slice of the brain volume, however, represents only a small cross-sectional area of the cortical layer. On the other hand, convolutional neural networks are less well developed for 3D volumes. Therefore we sought to apply deep networks to the 2D cortical surface, for the purpose of classifying Alzheimer's disease (AD). AD is known to affect the thickness and geometry of the cortical surface of the brain. Although the cortical surface has a complex geometry, here we present a novel data processing method to feed the information of an entire cortical surface into existing deep networks for more accurate early disease detection. A brain 3D MRI volume is registered and its cortical surface is flattened to a 2D plane. The flattened distributions of the thickness, curvature and surface area are combined into an RBG image which can be readily fed to existing deep networks. In this paper, the ADNI dataset of brain MRI scans are used and flattened cortical images are applied to different deep networks including ResNet and Inception. Two pre-clinical stages of AD are considered;stable mild cognitive impairment (MCIs) and converting mild cognitive impairment (MCIc). Experiments show that using flattened cortical images consistently leads to higher accuracy compared to using brain slices with the same network architecture. Specifically, the highest accuracy of 81% is achieved by Inception with flattened cortical images, as compared to 68% by the same network on brain slices and 75.9% accuracy by the best method in the literature which also used a deep network on brain slices. Our results indicate that flattened cortical images can be used to learn and classify AD with high accuracy.
