This paper explores the optimization of similarity retrieval systems through the fine-tuning of embeddings using advanced loss functions, focusing on the Stanford Cars dataset. By employing Triplet Loss with hard and semi-hard negative sampling, alongside the ArcFace loss, we significantly enhance retrieval accuracy, demonstrated by increased Retrieval R-Precision. Our methodology includes robust preprocessing and data augmentation, utilizing a ResNet-based architecture to extract high-level image features. An efficient retrieval pipeline is established through the Hierarchical Navigable Small World (HNSW) algorithm, ensuring real-time performance. The results indicate substantial improvements in capturing fine-grained visual similarities, with potential applications across autonomous vehicles, retail, and beyond. Future work will involve extending the approach to diverse datasets, exploring advanced architectures, and optimizing for real-time efficiency.

The exponential growth of the Internet of Things (IoT) has introduced significant challenges in managing scalability, availability, and efficiency. With billions of interconnected devices generating vast amounts of data, traditional frameworks struggle to handle the complex requirements of modern IoT applications. Addressing these challenges is crucial to fully leverage the potential of IoT in various domains, including smart homes, healthcare, and industrial automation. This paper proposes a novel framework for integrating IoT applications with cloud environments to achieve scalability and high availability. The framework is structured into four layers: the device layer leverages Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) as a low overhead communication protocol;the edge gateway layer aggregates data using lightweight Kubernetes; the ingestion and cloud infrastructure layer employs Kafka and Apache Spark for ingesting data and data transformation; and the data processing and analytics layer utilizes the cloud infrastructure layer to send the data to databases for data visualization. By leveraging cloud environments, this solution enhances scalability, availability, and overall system robustness. This paper also explores the challenges involved in implementing such an architecture, and provides insights into future advancements in IoT cloud integration.

Phishing poses a critical cyber security threat. Although machine learning-based detection methods have achieved notable success, visual similarity-based detection techniques still face the core challenge of complex visual feature extraction processes. This work innovatively introduces CLIP-series large models as image encoders. our approach achieves efficient phishing detection without requiring additional training. Experimental results demonstrate that our model achieves a classification-related accuracy rate of 91.21% on the visualPhish dataset, significantly outperforming traditional models (more than 35% improvement). In phishing detection tasks, it attains a peak performance of 83%, surpassing the current state-of-the-art visualPhishNet by 2%.

visual Emotion Recognition (VER) aims to identify emotions from visual content and has garnered significant attention in recent years due to its wide-ranging applications. Although deep learning-based methods have shown success in VER, they require extensive labeled data, which is costly. Unsupervised Domain Adaptation (UDA) methods can reduce reliance on annotated data by transferring models trained on labeled datasets to unlabeled data. However, these methods assume that the source and target domains share the same label space. In practice, this assumption is often violated due to the inherent ambiguity and subjectivity in emotion labeling. To address this limitation, we propose a novel prompt learning paradigm for open-vocabulary visual emotion UDA, termed Domain-specific Ensemble Prompting (DSEP). DSEP leverages psychological emotion models to unify emotion labels into a common space in an ensemble manner, enhancing the open-vocabulary capabilities of UDA. It then combines ensemble label prompts with domain-specific content prompts to achieve open-vocabulary UDA. To our knowledge, we are the first to explore open-vocabulary adaptation for VER. Extensive experiments demonstrate that DSEP consistently outperforms state-of-the-art methods across four public benchmarks.

Planning land use changes requires input from experts across several domains with diverse expertise. Currently available tools were not designed for analysing the required ecosystem services before and after land use changes, or for analysing tradeoffs. Our study is motivated by the need for better tools designed for expert analysts and location knowledgable stakeholders to analyse data relating to land use planning, such as ecosystem services data. The effectiveness of an immersive VR visualization system (Immersive ESS visualizer) for analysing and visualizing ecosystem services data, is evaluated and compared to existing methods of analysis, paper maps and a 2D screen. Although VR presented some difficulties, the benefits of spatially arranging maps, inspecting fine details, navigation by zooming, and inspection of hillshades provided sufficient advantages to make VR an effective tool for ecosystem services analysis. Participants using Immersive ESS visualizer arranged handheld maps into 3D layouts, which would not be possible with paper or on the 2D screen. Our research demonstrates that geospatial analysis can be supported by comparative visualization in VR.

Cricket fans throughout the world avidly follow the Indian Premier League (IPL), a competition of great fame. The IPL data is examined in this using Exploratory data Analysis (EDA) approaches to find hidden trends, patterns, and insights. Key findings are summarized in EDA, a critical stage of data processing that is frequently complemented with visual aids. Through EDA, the goal is to investigate several factors, including team performance, player data, match results, and venue effects. data transformation, cleaning, and visualization will all be part of producing insightful findings. Win percentages, player averages, and run distributions are examples of key performance indicators (KPIs) that will be looked at. The analysis's findings will give teams, athletes, and supporters important new information.

The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) was designed the enhance the livelihood of rural households all across India, providing opportunities for wage employment. In recent years the program has faced a lot of challenges in terms of providing 100 days of employment to all the rural households. There has been a decline in wage employment opportunities beyond the year 2020-2021, due to ineffective management practices. In order to dive deeper into the issue, the researcher performs data-driven analysis of the MGNREGA scheme utilizing the open-source data available in the MGNREGA official website, focusing on the years 2014 to 2024, exploring the contributing factors for the decline in the scheme's effectiveness. The researcher uncovers hidden valuable insights and visually represented them, by performing Exploratory data Analysis on the data obtained. The data and insights generated are visually represented by employing various python libraries in Jupyter Notebook, identifying trends, correlations among variables and patterns, as well as shedding light on the scheme's performance and area of improvement. By performing in depth analysis and visualization of the data, the researcher aims to provide valuable insights on the effectiveness and challenges faced by the MGNREGA scheme, ensuring effective implementation of the scheme. Ensuring the improvement in the economic wellbeing and livelihoods of the rural communities across India, the insights gained from the visual representation of the data, allows the policy makers to take well informed decisions, ultimately ensuring the scheme's success. © 2025 IEEE.

This paper introduces a fine-grained video tag classification algorithm that integrates knowledge graphs to identify specific TV series. A multimodal pretraining model extracts visual and textual features, feeding them into a multitask prediction model to classify type, genre, and entity tags. A similarity task enhances feature compactness, while an entity correction model refines predictions using co-occurrence data from knowledge graphs. Using a knowledge graph built from the data of Douban, a leading platform in China, the model achieved a 3.70% improvement in Top-1 accuracy for type tags, 3.35% for genre tags, and 16.57% for entity tags. The global-local attention model further increased entity tag accuracy from 38.7% to 45.6%. This approach boosts classification accuracy and provides insights for handling limited data.

This paper addresses the challenge of adapting large vision models, such as CLIP, to domain shifts in image classification tasks. While these models, pre-trained on vast datasets like LAION 2B, offer powerful visual representations, they may struggle when applied to domains significantly different from their training data, such as industrial applications. We introduce TADA, a Text-Aided Domain Adaptation method that adapts the visual representations of these models to new domains without requiring target domain images. TADA leverages verbal descriptions of the domain shift to capture the differences between the pre-training and target domains. Our method integrates seamlessly with fine-tuning strategies, including prompt learning methods. We demonstrate TADA’s effectiveness in improving the performance of large vision models on domain-shifted data, achieving state-of-the-art results on benchmarks like DomainNet.
