there are many Web-based applications such as XML content-based Filtering system etc. over the Internet. XML messages stream in and filter engine decide which users have potential interest based on their known requirements. However, when we process thousands of XPaths against fast XML streams, the limited main memory requirements become the bottleneck for the filter engine. We noticed that the uncertain factors in XPath expressions might lead to exponential complexity in search space. thus, this paper proposes a novel method for XML filtering to solve the computational problem. We define a novel binary operation "product" of automata to diminish the uncertain factors thus reducing the search space. then, we give the construction algorithms for DTD automaton and automaton product respectively. Finally, we analyze the complexity of the optimizing process and also validate the method in our experimental system.

Design space exploration of multiprocessors on chip requires both automatic performance analysis techniques and efficient multiprocessors configuration performance evaluation. Prohibitive simulation time of single multiprocessor configuration makes large design space exploration impossible without massive use of computing resources and still implementation issues are not tackled. this paper proposes a new performance evaluation methodology for multiprocessors on chip which conduct a multiobjective design space exploration through emulation. the proposed approach is validated on a 4 way multiprocessor on chip design space exploration where a 6 order of magnitude improvement have been achieved over cycle accurate simulation

Since IP-SAN allows us to reduce initial costs and management costs of storage by using IP networks, iSCSI, common protocol in IP-SAN, is becoming more important. Although one of the key issues for iSCSI is a security measure to access remote storage over IP networks, this is not necessarily established yet. iSCSI can employ IPsec that offers a function of strong encryption. However, the IPsec encryption processing degrades throughput of storage access and increases its CPU load. In addition, it is difficult to execute encryption processing efficiently, because IPsec layer is located in a lower-level. In this paper, we implemented a middleware system of executing encryption processing in the upper-layer for the communication using iSCSI securely and effectively. Moreover, we simulated the idea of optimization of encryption processing and evaluated its performance by running parallel processes in a long-latency network. As a result, optimization method of encryption processing is more efficient than that of IPsec in a long-latency network

the design and development process of complex systems require an adequate methodology and efficient instrumental support in order to early detect and correct anomalies in the functional and non-functional properties of the solution. In this article, an unified experimentation framework (UEF) providing experimentation facilities at both design and development stages is introduced. this UEF provides a mean to achieve experiment in both simulation mode with UML2 models of the designed protocol and emulation mode using real protocol implementation. A practical use case of the experimentation framework is illustrated in the context of satellite environment.

Cellular automaton (CA) has been shown to be capable of generating complex and random patterns out of simple rules. there has been constant efforts of applying CA to develop ciphers, but the attempts have not been successful. this paper describes how repeated application of simple CA transforms may be used to achieve confusion and diffusion, needed in block ciphers. the components have been evaluated for their robustness against conventional cryptanalysis and the results have been found to be comparable to standards. Finally, the parts are assembled in an unconventional way to construct a self-invertible CA based round, which is resistant against linear and differential cryptanalysis and yet can be efficiently implemented

Protein identification is one of the major task of Proteomics researchers. Protein identification could be resumed by searching the best match between an experimental mass spectrum and proteins from a database. Nevertheless this approach can not be used to identify new proteins or protein variants. In this paper an evolutionary approach is proposed to discover new proteins or protein variants thanks a "de novo sequencing" method. this approach has been experimented on a specific grid called Grid5000 with simulated spectra and also real spectra.

Multipath routing scheme for load balancing consists in two steps: selection of multiple candidate paths and splitting the traffic among selected paths. New traffic splitting scheme is proposed using prospect of the effective repartition and three hybrid multipath algorithms are organized by combining each step of LDM (load distribution over MPLS network) and WDP (widest disjoint path) selected among the existing schemes, and proposed new traffic splitting algorithm. For performance estimation, we have simulated some existing routing algorithms using ns-2 and have compared their results with three hybrids' results in terms of maximum link utilization ratio. the results show that three hybrid algorithms, especially LBWDP with our new traffic splitting scheme, surpasses the others as the number of demands grows.

Intelligent video surveillance (IVS) systems are based on the recent development of so called embedded smart cameras. Delivering a good service quality in IVS usually results in a higher level of computing activity and therefore in increased power consumption. this paper presents PoQoS, a novel approach that aims in maximizing the service quality (i.e., the number of IVS-services and their QoS) while minimizing the system's power consumption. PoQoS enables power-aware reconfiguration of services and hardware resources in distributed logical clusters of embedded smart cameras. In order to find optimal camera configurations during operation, PoQoS integrates PoSeGA, an online genetic multi-criterion optimization algorithm. A configuration manager properly selects among optimized camera configurations and consequently initializes intra-camera or intra-cluster power-aware reconfiguration with respect to application- and situation-specific context. the evaluation of PoQoS on the PoQoCam, a power-efficient embedded smart camera platform, shows the feasibility of the presented approach.

In this paper we present the design and implementation of a Time Management Converter (TiMaC) for HLA based simulation systems. TiMaC is a layer interposed in between the federate and the underlying RTI in order to map the conservative Time Management interface onto the optimistic one. In this way, TiMaC transparently supports optimistic execution for federates originally designed for the conservative approach, which is achieved without the need for developing any ad-hoc RTI system. TiMaC relies on a recently proposed software architecture for transparent treatment of checkpointing/recovery of the federate state, namely Magic State Manager (MASM), and implements a set of additional facilities required to support all the tasks associated with the mapping of conservative onto optimistic Time Management interfaces. the implementation has been tailored to the Georgia Tech B-RTI package, although the underlying design principles would allow it to be integrated with any RTI system. We also report an experimental study demonstrating the viability and effectiveness of our proposal in allowing conservative federates to be supported with highly increased run-time effectiveness in general contexts for what concerns the features of the underlying computing systems (e.g. LAN vsWAN based systems.

In this paper, we study the problem of data gathering in multi-hop wireless sensor networks. To tackle the high degree of channel contention and high probability of packet collision induced by bursty traffic, we introduce a novel model based on random channel access scheme for data gathering. In our model, both data delivery reliability and latency are considered, and our goal is to tune the attempt probability for each sensor node so that the data gathering duration can be minimized on condition that each link in the data gathering tree can provide guaranteed per-hop packet delivery reliability. We formulate this problem as an optimization problem and propose a distributed heuristic algorithm which exploits only two hop neighbors information to solve it for tree networks. We evaluate the algorithm and the model by simulations, and results show that our algorithm has low computational complexity and our model can provide a good trade-off between reliability and latency for data gathering
