the paper presents the design criteria and the electrical characteristics of a terrestrial radio link antenna operating simultaneously, with dual linear polarization, at 2 and 11 GHz frequency bands. the antenna consists of a 4m parabolic reflector with a double grid shaped dichroic subreflector which is the most innovative component, theoretically designed and optimized by means of a reliable electromagnetic model. the performance are comparable withthe typical values of radio link antennas operating at single band. Both electrical and cost requirements have been considered in the choice of the candidate configuration.

Recent advances in monolithic design point out the need for accurate and repeatible "S" parameters measurements of three ports RF circuits such as dual gate FETs. this paper presents an automatic on wafer three ports system for frequencies up to 26.5 GHz consisting of a two ports Network Analyser and wafer probes, that is used to provide RF measurements of three ports devices and to extract the model of dual gate FETs. Rapid thermal processing of a small process square placed on a susceptor wafer of controlled emissivity is investigated. Under these conditions the process square is hotter than the susceptor wafer. Finite element modelling is compared with experimental data and used to predict the subsequently observed changes in process square temperature as its size and the condition of the susceptor wafer are changed.

the small-sized and light-weighted 10GHz band Phase Locked Oscillator(PLO) with superior characteristics, cost effectiveness and high productivity have been newly developed for satellite communication systems such as VSAT. the PLO is composed of three circuit modules, the small-sized 2.7GHz band VCO module, the x4 frequency multiple module and the PLL/Power suplly module. the output phase noise characteristics is evaluted in theoretically by simple noise model considering the phase noises generated in the divider, the phase-detector, the VCO and others. the measured phase noise of PLO is in good agreement withthe calculated. the characteristics of the PLO are -75dBc/Hz at 100Hz, -84dBc/Hz at 10KHz in the phase noise and less than ±2ppm(-40~+60°C) in the frequency stability. the volume is about 110cc and the weight is 185g.

Mass optimization studies are performed within the framework of the French ERATO space nuclear power program to investigate the suitability of thermoelectric converters for an LMFBR-derivative system. Results indicated that a PbTe converter in conjunction with conventional LMFBR, having a core exit temperature <907 K and cooled by NaK (78%), offers a competitive option. the total mass of the ERATO-TE system for a beginning-of-life nominal power of 25 kWe is 2600 kg. this mass is comparable to that of the reference system with a closed Brayton converter. In addition to the inherent reliability of TE converters, the radiator area (~ 110 m/sup 2/) and total mass of the ERATO-TE system represents 73 percent of the maximum radiator area compatible withthe ARIANE-V launcher, and about 50 percent of the launch capacity to high earth orbit, respectively.

the specific results obtained from a systematic optimization of low-voltage silicon power MOSFET technologies are discussed. the areas discussed include system impact, unit cell optimization, device and process modeling, fabrication technology development, and measured results. the device technologies optimized include 30 V, 50 V, and 100 V vertical power DMOSFETs with refractory silicide gate and contact metallizations. Devices withthe lowest specific on-resistance, the lowest specific input capacitance, and optimized switching performance have been fabricated with excellent wafer yield. these results represent the best high-frequency switching performance based on silicon material technology ever reported.< >

Two techniques for time-domain analysis, cycle-by-cycle simulation of switched linear circuits and state-space averaging, are discussed in the context of modeling computer power systems. these techniques are compared by studying the output voltage response of a single DC-to-DC power converter to a transient load. Measured data are used to validate the simulated results. Simulation CPU times are also presented along with a discussion on the pros and cons of each approach. Predicting the response to line and load transients of a much larger system composed of three paralleled DC-to-DC converters is studied using state-space averaged models implemented in SPICE.< >

A method for modeling permanent-magnet AC generator systems with electronically switched loads is presented. Continuous switching of the associated power electronics results in continuous change in the machine system topologies. the network modeling of such systems was done on an instantaneous basis in the time domain. In this approach, the effects of magnetic circuit nonlinearities and space harmonics due to stator slotting and rotor saliency were taken into account. this generalized method was used to predict the dynamic performance of a two-pole, 75 kVA, 208 V, 24000 rev/min permanent-magnet generator system, as well as to study the effects of electronic component failure and the effects of damping circuits on the system power.< >
