this study explored using fitness tracker data to improve patient health monitoring. Patient health data comes from various sources, including medical records and wearable devices. this study aimed to develop medical record software that analyzes fitness tracker data. this would allow data collection for further analysis (like cluster analysis) and potentially improve the accuracy and features of medical monitoring. We focused on using linear regression to analyze and predict heart rate based on fitness tracker data (Very Active Distance, Fairly Active Minutes, Calories). An information system was developed to perform this analysis. Training and validation were conducted using real fitness tracker data. the study confirmed that linear regression effectively predicts heart rate based on fitness tracker parameters. We compared the model's accuracy with and without data aggregation to determine the optimal conditions for using linear regression with fitness data. Statistical analysis (Student's t-test) confirmed the adequacy of the model (t = 1.31, critical value = 2.62). this study demonstrates that linear regression, applied through the developed software, is a valuable tool for personalized monitoring and optimization of physical activity using fitness tracker data. Linear regression may not be ideal for all situations, especially with complex non-linear relationships. Other machine learning methods might be needed in those cases. © 2023 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

this paper presents a novel CAD toolbox based on Matlab-Spectre co-simulation for the automated design and optimization of ultra-low power CMOS voltage references. the combination of a technology evaluation and a VR designer tool extracts the relevant parameters of all available MOS transistors with minimal effort and generates the optimized circuit significantly reducing the design time. In addition, the proposed toolbox is useful to evaluate the available low-power reference voltages and the achievable performance in each technology node.

this paper presents the results of research on the influence of asymmetric and nonlinear load on the operating mode of a low-power turbine generator, which simulation takes into account automatic excitation and rotor speed controllers. the results of computer and physical modeling show the occurrence of the following negative effects: a noticeable negative-sequence current appears;the generator begins to generate higher harmonics into the network;the amplitude of the forced oscillations of the excitation current increases;additional mechanical vibrations of the rotor arise, which can lead to the accelerated wear and loss of stability. To ensure the operation of low-power generators with asymmetry and harmonic distortions, it is necessary to limit their load. As a criterion, the maximum current difference in the phases can be used, which should not exceed 12% of the rated current. In addition, it is required to use special means to protect generators: DC links;harmonic filters;negative-sequence protection of generators;automatics for limiting the excitation current.

In the knife defect detection system, accurately determining focal distance at high speed is crucial for obtaining clear images, necessitating further algorithm optimization. We introduce an innovative autofocus mechanism, ST-VGG, leveraging an optimized deep-learning model based on the VGG16 architecture. this model enhances convolutional layers, employs global average pooling to mitigate overfitting, and integrates the Inception architecture for multi-scale feature fusion without additional computational load. By using depthwise separable convolutions, ST-VGG effectively reduces parameter complexity, making it an ideal solution for mobile devices and embedded real-time detection. this innovative approach converts autofocus tasks into regression problems, enhancing prediction accuracy compared to leading lightweight architectures such as TVGG, TSwinT, and TViT, as well as classic models like LeNet and AlexNet. Additionally, the ST-VGG model demonstrates remarkable potential in knife defect detection systems by effectively addressing the speed bottleneck in the autofocus process. It achieves notable results on public datasets, reducing verification loss by up to 2% and achieving image inference speeds of just 1.4 milliseconds. this performance sets a new standard for efficient, real-time knife defect detection systems, promising cost-effective innovations in industrial automation testing.

An integrated energy system consisted of PV panels, EV (electric vehicle), BES (battery energy storage), and a HP (heat pump) coupled with thermal storage tanks (TES) has been studied. the research aimed to minimize the total energy costs by scheduling the optimal power consumption of each device as response to two external signals as part of a demand response program. One of the signals corresponded to a selling electricity price tariff or feed-in tariff (FIT) to account for the ability of the system to sell energy towards the grid. On the other hand, the second signal corresponded to the buying electricity price tariff to account for the system's energy consumption from the grid. this control scheme allowed to determine the optimal energy consumption of the HP and its flexibility potential to shift its load towards times of low electricity prices. It was concluded that the proposed integrated system will produce a 50 % total energy cost reduction while the operation of the HP for one week in winter will reduce the gas consumption in 53 m(3) in a traditional Dutch house.

A nonlinear dynamic weight improved particle swarm optimization algorithm is proposed to address the difficulty of manually tuning the parameters of proportional integral differential (PID) in the self navigation model heading control system and the poor performance of the parameters obtained through tuning optimization. this algorithm is applied to the tuning process of PID parameters in the self navigation model heading control system. Taking the heading control of self navigation model as the research object, the mathematical model of the heading control system of self navigation model is firstly established, and an improved particle swarm optimization method is adopted to process the inertia weight with nonlinear dynamic decline, improve the search performance and optimization efficiency, and make up for the shortcomings of the traditional particle swarm optimization method. Finally, simulation comparison and analysis are carried out through Matlab/Simulink. the experimental results show that after using the improved particle swarm optimization method for parameter tuning, the self navigation model has better dynamic performance, shorter adjustment time, and also eliminates the difficulty of manual tuning, reducing the time for parameter tuning. According to the application of the ship's manipulation index in the mathematical model in the second order, use the Matlab and Simulink software to implement the response model to simulate the ship's rotation trajectory and the heading angle, and compare with the ship model rotation test data. © 2023 IEEE.

Floating offshore wind turbine designs can be further optimized if the controller and remaining systems are designed together, known as control co-design. To effectively perform control co-design, modeling tools predicting the influence of the control systems on the response of a system must be validated. this article presents an experimental validation that utilizes a scale model of a semisubmersible platform for an offshore wind turbine that is fitted with adjustable tuned mass dampers. these dampers can be tuned to attenuate either the hull-pitch resonance or the tower-bending resonance. the data from the experiment are used to validate state-of- the-art modeling tools. It is shown that the models capture the overall effects of the tuned mass dampers;however, some models overpredict the reduction in platform pitch motion when the dampers are tuned to the pitch resonance. the relative reduction in the tower-base bending moment is more consistently captured by the models when the dampers are tuned to the tower-bending resonance. However, there are significant differences in the absolute level of tower-base bending moment between the models and the experiment. Much of the differences observed are a consequence of the challenge with accurately predicting the baseline platform resonance motion and the tower-bending moment, which should be addressed in future modeling efforts.

this paper proposes a shape sensitivity analysis for the transient eddy current system. the continuum shape sensitivity of the transient eddy current system is derived by using the material derivative concept and the adjoint variable technique. In the continuum shape sensitivity analysis, the state variable equation is an initial-value problem to be solved forward in time. In contrast, the adjoint variable equation is a terminal-value problem, which is solved backward in time. With the state and adjoint variables, the design velocity of the shape sensitivity formula is evaluated and coupled with the level set equation to represent the deforming geometry. A numerical example having the known solution is tested to show the feasibility of the derived sensitivity formula.

the optimization of electrical circuits is a difficult and time-consuming process performed by experts, but also increasingly by sophisticated algorithms. In this paper, a reinforcement learning (RL) approach is adapted to optimize an LLC converter at multiple operation points corresponding to different, high-efficient output powers at different frequencies. During a training period, the RL agents extracts a problem specific optimization strategy enabling optimizations for any objective and boundary condition within a pre-defined range. the results show, that the trained RL agent is able to solve new optimization problems on this LLC system within 50 tuning steps for two operation points with efficiencies greater than 90%. therefore, this AI technique provides the potential to augment expert-driven design processes with data-driven strategy extraction in the field of power electronics and beyond.

Addressing the challenges associated with the single maximum power point tracking (MPPT) control strategy for photovoltaics, which often struggles to rapidly and accurately track the global maximum power point (GMPP) of the photovoltaic array in complex external environments, leading to significant power oscillations, we propose a photovoltaic compound MPPT control method grounded in power prediction (PF-IAFSA-IP&O). this innovative approach utilizes an enhanced photovoltaic current sorting kinematic projectile model to establish a photovoltaic power prediction model. the model is then solved using an improved adaptive artificial fish swarm algorithm (IAFSA), enabling the photovoltaic array to swiftly operate at the maximum power point. Furthermore, to mitigate prediction model errors, the adaptive perturb and observe (IP&O) algorithm is employed for local search, ensuring more precise optimization. Simulation results demonstrate that our proposed MPPT control strategy offers significant improvements compared to traditional methods, effectively reducing power oscillations during the maximum power tracking process. © the Institution of Engineering & Technology 2024.
