Research on optimizing the last-mile delivery system mostly encompasses a single delivery model. the model is conceived as follows: goods from warehouses located on the outskirts of cities are delivered by commercial delivery vehicles to micro-depots located on the outskirts of city centers or historical cores, from where distribution is carried out either by smaller delivery vehicles or environmentally friendly vehicles, such as small electric vans and/or electric cargo bicycles/tricycles. In the process of selecting the optimal model, various criteria are considered. the aim of the paper is to provide an overview of research in the field of last-mile delivery modeling, with guidelines for future research. the focus is on researching hybrid delivery network models in urban areas, and identifying additional elements that can contribute to greater efficiency in the last-mile delivery system, alongside reviewing existing network optimization criteria. the paper is structured so that the introductory section outlines the purpose of the research. A review of existing research with a critical analysis constitutes the central part of the paper. In conclusion, guidelines for future research in the optimization of hybrid last-mile distribution networks are provided.

Combining clean alternative fuel, hybrid electric propulsion, and advanced real-time optimal control provides a very promising approach to clean energy transition and decarbonization. However, a hybrid electric ship's flexible electrified propulsion system is a complex mechatronic systemthat demands systemoptimization and real-time optimal control to reach its full potential. Accurate prediction of needed propulsion power is required to develop the integrated propulsion system design and control solutions. this study introduces an advanced propulsion power prediction method and an integrated model-based design and optimization approach for the design and control optimizations of the vessel propulsion system. After introducing the engine performance models of a methanol-fueled engine based on literature data, a case study of a representative tour boat is conducted to design and assess the balanced performance and emissions of the methanol-fueled hybrid electric marine vessel. Combining clean methanol fuel, hybrid electric propulsion, and optimal real-time control effectively reduces the overall carbon dioxide equivalent emissions from the vessel.

Generation expansion planning is the problem of determining the optimal type of energy technologies to be installed, time, and construction location. this problem becomes even more complicated within the context of electricity markets, including their volatilities and shocks. this work addresses the problem of optimal generation expansion planning, considering the market operation through introducing unit commitment constraints. It considers the penetration of distributed energy resources into the system, including energy storage systems and demand response programs. the methodological framework is based on linear programming techniques and has been tested in an illustrative power system under various assumptions regarding CO2 emissions limits as well as CO2 and natural gas fuel prices. the results highlight that renewable power units are installed in all cases, while non-renewable power units are installed only if they are low-carbon (biomass and nuclear) or they are equipped with a CCS technology (hard coal and natural gas).

the future electricity system is expected to include a higher share of production from renewable energy sources. this will lead to increased price volatility and thus a higher demand for short-term balancing by hydropower systems, which will have to operate closer to their maximum flexibility limits. In order to perform an investment analysis it is thus important to model physical characteristics and limitations of hydropower systems as close to reality as possible. A simulator based on medium- and short-term hydropower modelling is used to carry out an investment analysis for a Norwegian hydropower producer. the results demonstrate how detailed modelling can provide new insight into the implications of short-term effects in pumped storage hydropower investment decisions.

the relentless evolution of communication technologies has spurred sustained interest in 6G (6th Generation) full-duplex wireless communication systems, positioning these systems as integral components of future networks. the primary challenge lies in optimizing algorithms to enhance system performance and spectrum efficiency. this study focuses specifically on the application of the Scaled Conjugate Gradient (SCG) algorithm in the domain of digital self-interference cancellation, aiming to achieve performance optimization in full-duplex wireless systems. through an in-depth exploration of the principles and characteristics of the SCG algorithm, we apply it to critical aspects such as signal processing, interference cancellation, and more, withthe goal of optimizing the overall system performance. through experiments, we evaluate the effectiveness of the SCG algorithm and conduct comparative analyses with other optimization algorithms. the experimental results demonstrate that the lower complexity of the SCG algorithm effectively addresses the issue of self-interference signal cancellation under high transmit power conditions, resolving nonlinear problems introduced by components such as power amplifiers. Importantly, the SCG algorithm outperforms other digital cancellation methods in this context.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a rapidly integrated technology, significantly contributing to advancements like 6G. However, its swift adoption raises considerable security concerns. Large Language Models (LLMs) pose risks such as spear phishing, code injections, and remote code execution. Conventional threat modeling, used in secure software development, faces challenges when applied to AI systems, as existing methodologies are designed for traditional software. Furthermore, AI-specific threat modeling research is sparse and lacks approaches providing practical support or automation. thus, this demo paper presents threatFinderAI, an asset-centric threat modeling and risk assessment framework. threatFinderAI fulfills seven steps aligned with AI system design and transforms AI threat and control knowledge bases into a queryable knowledge graph for automated asset identification and threat elicitation. It also proposes business impact analysis and expert estimates for AI threat impact quantification. In the demonstration, threatFinderAI is illustrated by securing a customer care application relying on LLMs. through this, it is demonstrated how the proposed framework can he used to identify relevant threats and practical countermeasures and communicate strategic risk.

In this study, we focus on exploring the potential interference to neighboring-frequency NB-IoT systems caused by the evolution from LTE to 5G NR systems in the 900 MHz band. In particular, the study focuses on the base station and terminal transmissions of the 900MHz 5G NR system and analyzes their potential interference impact on the indoor and outdoor terminals of the neighboring-band NB-IoT system as well as on the base station reception. In the future 900MHz 5G system, the base station is expected to have a transmit parameter of 4*60 W. We meticulously list the key base station and terminal parameters required to perform system analysis and interference calculation based on the 3GPP standard. In this thesis, we have thoroughly explored the specific mechanism of neighbor frequency interference through a comprehensive approach of experiments, simulations and reference standards, and based on which we have proposed effective optimization strategies. these strategies aim to reduce the interference of the 5G NR system to the neighboring frequency NB-IoT system, thus ensuring that the two systems can coexist harmoniously in the same frequency band. the results will provide theoretical support and practical guidance for the smooth transition from LTE to 5G NR in the 900 MHz band, which is of great significance for realizing a more efficient and stable communication network.
